In 1911 Malmesbury Lodge No. 3156 in London opened a hospital called Masonic Hospital and Nursing Home. In 1933 King George enhanced the hospital by assisting it's construction on a larger site. It then became known by two names, King George V Hospital, and the Royal Masonic Hospital. After the NHS was established it remained an independent hospital and later became a nursing school. Graduates are awarded that belt buckle that can be worn with their uniform that distinguishes them as a sort of .. "elite" nurse if you will. Freemasons could not afford the upkeep of the hospital so it closed, though King George Hospital is still there as it's funded by the Government. Nurses who graduated from the hospital still wear the prestigious belt buckle, and naturally the Queen would only have been treated by the best of the best, and they wear this buckle.



Oh.. by the way, the Nurse is also wearing another Masonic item that I didn't see anyone point out. The silver pin below her neck is called a "Permanent Steward’s Jewel" which is given to donors of the hospital (when it existed).

I don´t know if I would trust a nurse wearing a masonic symbol and a pentagram on her belt. But hey, maybe it´s just me.

Well.. in this case, that buckle means it's an experienced well educated nurse. Your bigotry shouldn't get in the way of your health.

What is the big deal about Freemasonry? It has already been established to an acceptable degree that there is nothing nefarious about Freemasonry, and it is no secret that many powerful people are members of the fraternity. This has been the case for hundreds of years. And the pentagram...The thing that some fail to take into account is that different symbols have been used by different groups throughout history, but often times those symbols overlap. There are only so many symbols that are eye-pleasing in the first place.

Picking out the specific meaning of a symbol is usually difficult considering there are usually a few different meanings, and sometimes no meaning at all. Symbols often serve decorative purposes, but with royalty I too would figure that there is thought put into symbolism. Another aspect of using symbols today for certain families and groups is based on symbols used by their ancestors. There are just different possibilities, and personally I doubt there is anything nefarious about them. The odds of this are relatively low imo. It is not impossible though, but I do not see how this is going to be proven anytime soon.
