Wow, it's been almost 8 hours & there's been nothing on the 2.5/ 4.5 eq page,
except the 3.6 in Arkansas!

earthquake.usgs.gov...

Every fault can't be stuck! Building up to a good sized one?
Or a volley of smaller ones?

Wonder which it will be & where?
Any guesses???

Japindistan!
I'm not familiar with that area!!!

I have to learn how to do a screen shot.
They snuck the one in India in, after the one in Japan!

I posted right before the one in Japan.
20:58:28 East Timor Region
4:55:20 Honshu, Japan.

With just the 3.6 in Arkansas in that time frame.

was reading Geonets blog entry on this Series, doesn't say much more than what I said.

They have a MTS on it, and its different again to both USGS and GFZ's

whats the point of these?, they can't agree on magnitude or location let alone the MTS

it remains a mystery

This is an area that is always worth watching.....This is a subduction area rumored to have unleashed 9.0's in the past. And multiple confirmed 8's.

I used to have a better map of the history and mechanics of this area, but I can't find it. So I will link this one!

Indeed it is an area worthy watching although I hope nothing will happen I mean no Earth(q)(wake) with mag higher than 5.8 will take place this week although even an 5.8 can be very destructive given the past history.

I used to have a better map of the history and mechanics of this area, but I can't find it. So I will link this one!
Oh and thank you for the link, very useful to see a trace of the past history.

must have been before 314AD then.
based on data from the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering, Building Research Institute’s version of Utsu’s research Catalog of Damaging Earthquakes in the World (Through 2001) PC Edition and the USGS Centennial List 1900-2002, cross referenced with NOAA, NEIC, Geofon and EMSC there are only 2 mag 8's in that area, and they are probably suspect at 8.0, quite likely were 7.9 or something because of the magnitude types (Unk) and (M) both which mean "not sure what type".or "unconfirmed"

locations can be viewed on this map as well as all the other mag 8's 314-2012,

Talking about 8's, I may add Santa Cruz, been waiting for confirmation of the Mw which has been at 7.9Mw on USGS Centroid Moment Solution since 6 February 2013 6:30:32 p.m., but the Details page still says "8.0 M-type=(unknown type)" .Can't use that in this day and age, 50-100 years ago maybe.
But it was shown as 8.0Ms anyway on Harvards GCMT all along so just meets the criteria.

    Hey muzzy!

I can not find the article that I read but they were not only talking about a 9.0, but also were throwing around a 10 or an 11.0
    .......Hehehehehehe.

Oh......! I found the article. Scroll down past the map.

I reckon an 11.0 would split this globe we live on plumb in half

Is this one following behind the 2.5 this morning? Will leave that to the experts...

The 3.5 was felt as it was shallow.

Midwestcity - I would not say shaking, more like a drop fault type of earthquake. Short and noisy. EMSC Oklahoma City Area, Oklahoma Feb 27 19:51 PM 3.5 9 MAP I Felt It INFO Tinker AFB - Sitting in my office, I felt a sudden jolt. Walls shook, etc. The whole building felt it. Some even went outside to see if something had hit the building. Tinker AFB. - It was almost like one quick shake! The only thing I know to compare it to, is incoming mortar fire 29th & Westminster - Very scary feeling , felt as if someone ran a dump truck into the house near MWC hospital - house and walls shook, no damage noted. believe it was closer/stronger than prior shakes felt by us. edmond - sounded like shelves collapsing somewhere in the house; rattled the 55 gallon fish tank - See more at: earthquake-report.com...

In another thread there was some debate as to where the plate stress would be distributed after the Santa Cruz swarm.

I think puterman said that that plate would show activity first in S. America, and then move on up to the west coast of N. america.

Hopefully this is just an isolated shaking of sorts
