No you just have national pride.... We've seen it here in the US... Why do you need cameras at every street corners? Why are people getting arrested over twitter.. for disagreeing with the government...

yeah I agree with this... the UK has had their rights eroded for a long time we need to stop it before it happens here

The U.K. in many respects seems it resembles China more than the U.S. (or what is left of it), though the U.S. is fast getting sucked into the same Orwellian Big Brother 'save' us from everything mentality. One more all seeing camera, one more body scanner, one more email illegally read, one more citizen voice asking questions stifled, perhaps soon one more citizen microchipped and surveiled 24/7 cradle to grave and we'll all be 'safe' and happy,

How free can you claim you are if you feel you need a gun to keep you safe?

Feeling like you have to kill people in order to live is NO freedom.. You are right... GUN nuts are saying that the ability to kill someone if they want to is what MAKES them free.. hmmmm..

To bad, it's our right to carry arms. I obey the law and pay taxes. I wont be punished because criminals are breaking the law. How about the government target Criminals and not the Law abiding citizen.

All these gun regulations only work if you um, you know, follow the law.

Don't even toss canada in with britain. Canada is nowhere near gun free, it is very similar to the US. Large liberal cities, guns are all but banned, lots of crime rampant. Out here in the country, more guns than people, no real crime to speak of. No police force in my town at all, would be a waste of money, and all they would be doing is harassing teens and handing out stupid fines.

On the OP, if you want armed guards protecting your children, then get guns, get training, and homeschool. That is what I did when I was a legal guardian.

I didn't lump them together, you need to go up one more person in that reply to find THAT person.

I would just like to say, regarding the original topic of this thread:

It IS effective to have armed guards at schools.

My children's school district has their own POLICE FORCE (sworn Texas Peace Officers).

On campus, on patrol, and everything in between.

Deterrent, fast response, yep, it works.

You have already shot yourself in the foot with your plea of "I obey the law" when you said you are ready to revolt if your feel slighted.

Great idea it should have been introduced years ago.
They have guardhouses at commercial sites , so why not schools?
A levy or tax of a small amount could fund two guards per school, a guard house and the installation of cameras and perimeter alarms.
The technology is there...just needs money, something that no one likes giving up.

Awesome.

Why not add a couple of Watch Towers and then you can change the name from School to P.O.W. Camp.

It is also effective to remove all guns from a society.

The question becomes, are you more or less likely to be shot when guns are banned?

Good on the NRA. I'm becoming member next week as well as getting my concealed and carry.

Cheap insurance.

Please stop making arguments you dont have any clue about. Revolt is necessary, our fore fathers were even considered " terrorist " and traitors. Damn, your ignorance is overwhelming and i dont mean that as an insult, but it's like you are missing out on reality.

If a state revolts for reasons i believe in, id be joining them.

I have not broken any laws and i dont plan to, unless of course, a state succeeds or revolts for reasons i believe in. However, i promise you, the government wont be removing the 2nd amendment. So there is really no worries.

It's just, for example, people like you. If America is to dangerous for you, get out or revolt. You dont have a choice because your argument is falling on deaf ears ... if you can even call your argument an argument. It's more of a rant that turned into trolling.

And the right wing gun worshipping nuts continue their quest to transform this great nation into a 3rd world country where we need armed guards in our freaking schools.

Instead of imposing stricter regulations on who can buy high powered rifles, their solution is to transform our schools into a maximum security fortress. Congratulations on stripping our children of safe places to learn.

Thank you for proving my point. You will only break laws when you feel slighted. This is what I have stated.

Yeah, now you are just trolling because your ignorance has already been shown. It's all you have left. Have a nice day, you aren't even remotely worth talking to. Youre like talking to a 15 year old. You have opinions that make no sense.

So, may i advise you leave it at that? You are seriously pulling me, and you off topic.

I don't really agree with the NRA on this one. The cost to taxpayers would be a good chunk of change. Most police forces are already short staffed. Taking another officer of the streets would make their jobs even more difficult. Not to mention all of the abusive/power hungry cops that could end up being the one to gaurd the children. I can imagine the stories we would hear then. It wasn't long ago that a state trooper tased a young boy for refusing to wash his patrol car. The simplest solution would be to do away with the useless gunfree zones and allow teachers and administrators to apply for concealed carry permits. They can go through all the same hoops that everyone else does to prove they are responsible enough to be trusted with a concealed weapon, and that in itself would be a deterrent. No coward is going to storm into a school knowing he/she could run into a teacher that is fully trained and proficient with the firearm they carry. Just for the sake of honesty, I would trust a teacher with a gun around my children before I would trust a cop with a gun around my children.
One last thing to add, here where i live the school district has its own police force. They are armed and have access to ar-15 rifles. I don't trust them either. They once shot a custodian that was hard of hearing. As for their response time, I have seen first hand how slow they are. Once they get their they usually just call the regular city police and wait for them in their car. Teachers are on the front line, let them have the tools they need to be effective.

Gun Free Zone = A maniacs playground.

A single armed security guard could have prevented this!

In this world we will always have nut jobs and the best option is to be prepared by having guards at schools and other "soft targets"! We guard banks, but not our children! At least once a week a kid is taken and tortured to death by some nut job. How many kids must die before we accept that we must guard against such attacks? Even if the kid had not been able to get guns he could have done just as much damage or more using other means. Thank God he didn't walk in with a homemade flame thrower or similar. Thank God he didn't take his time and level the place with explosives etc... What if "What if" he had just walked in and started kicking down doors and tossed homemade grenades/pipe bombs in?

There is only one way to stop a person bent on killing others and himself, and this by direct confrontation. The only answer is to guard the children!

Common sense seems to be missing in Americas politics. Instead of meaninful change we will instead be surrendering our guns to a goverment which has killed thousands of children in Iraq etc.. If you trust a system which is for sale to the party willing to spend the most to always have your best interests at heart, then you are a fool! I wonder how many Jews trusted that Germany would always have their best interests at heart?

To sit and pretend that a gun ban is to safe guard children is complete nonsense! It is to further a tyranical agenda!

If we abandon the law which our country was founded on then we invite another Hitler to power etc... Elections can be bought in America friend, but at the end of the day none can trespass to far because American citizens constitute the largest armed force on the planet! Would you really like to see a helpless American public? I know that I would not want to see that!

A well armed American public has kept tyranny at bay for 200+ years! It is not time to open the door to tyranical goverment!

The real America does not have a voice, when we vote for a president it a choice between two persons who have been pre selected by corrupt systems. We do however maintain a balance of power by purchasing and keeping all the arms we can get a hold of! It is a silent trust, and it most certainly does keep tyranny in check.

I base my opinions in the realm of statistics and empirical fact.

You speak from emotion and conjecture.

I will let others judge the merits of our arguments and I will continue to challenge your statements.

Why?

Because this is a discussion board. If you don't like THAT, why not revolt?

Why don't we give guns to kids? You never know when that guard will flip out.
