A child growing up in America witnesses 16,000 murders and 200,000
acts of violence by the time he or she reaches the ripe old age of 18.
And throughout it all, too many in our national media … their corporate
owners … and their stockholders … act as silent enablers, if not
complicit co-conspirators. Rather than face their own moral failings,
the media demonize lawful gun owners, amplify their cries for more
laws and fill the national debate

And this is what I'm refering to. The NRA stated something different than what the MSM is stating.

They should have been guarding the schools 20 years ago. Why they have not been guarding America's future is beyond me.

Every PARENT in America needs to DEMAND IMMEDIATELY that there children's schools allow properly trained and armed staff in schools to eliminate any further threats. PROTEST, make PHONE CALLS, YELL, SCREAM, just do WHATEVER until your children's school officials HEAR YOU and start ensuring our children's SECURITY!!!

There are some real DEVILS on this planet who never stop planning "events" to help sway public opinion to ACCEPT their NEFARIOUS GOALS!! Goals that will have us in a WORST situation then EVER once they are finally finished and achieve their goal..

Having properly trained ARMED staff in schools WILL STOP THESE DEVILS and their PLANNED EVENTS from continuing!!!!!!

Yeah, suicide by cop NEVER happens. And let's assume that everyone IS armed. One nutjob starts firing and then EVERY nut job with a gun joins in. How do you tell the good guys from the bad guys? How do you know who to shoot and who to trust? How do the cops know? You don't.

Good!! If it's good enough for the Presidents daughters it's good enough for my kids. As long as they are properly trained then i'm all for it.

I say its better than arming teachers, it takes away more of the liability and makes for a better policy. Armed trained guards, 2 per average middle school would def be the way to go. Furthermore, you wouldnt have to worry about all kinds of guns laying around the school and teachers not being prop trained or more advanced. Plus teachers might shoot someone if they suck. Also, a pissed off kid might somehow get ahold of a gun that a teacher has.. Armed guards , best way , there really is no better idea.

Im ok with that..but im a cop...and wouldnt mind the overtime...however...that is going to cost us a fortune....and in illinois we can't afford a thing. This is gonna sound awful but is the cost/benefit worth it....how often do we have school shootings? Maybe metal detectors would be a cheaper deterrent? If you just have security and its not armed..thats a total waste....Idk we are talking probably billions of dollars to have cops in school.

To me the best way to prevent this stuff....is to seek out these people pre game....every time this stuff happens we look back and see a list of things they were up to...mental illness should be taken more seriously...prisons shouldnt be cutting peoples sentences short for violent crimes.....

Im still shocked that the fact more people die from drunk driving or drug use...hell even heart disease etc...and no one brings that up. I know its awful to have kids murdered...nothing could be worse....but no matter what if a shooter or killer wants to take a life it is almost impossible to stop and prevent at least some loss. Its just life.

As a gun owner and member of the NRA, I'm ashamed of some of my fellow gun owners for their name calling and hyperbole in this thread. No wonder we are sometimes labeled "gun nuts"

Everyone is entitled to their opinion even if you disagree with it; without the name calling. Show some class!

And NRA plan to arm teachers? That just stupid. Your saying the solution to gun problems is more guns!

UK, France, Germany, Canada ect dont arm teachers and guess what! We dont have school massacres every other month! Last one in UK was in the 1990's. O and we are all free Democrays too(Americas not the only free country ) and we survive with gun restrictions.

Sheesh if I had to imigrate to America I would choose canada over gun happy USA every time.
Infact 2 years ago I got offerd a high paid job in Montana (would of got green card) and I turned it down as USA not on my places of where I want to live.

I think the NRA is not there to protect the 2nd amendment.
I think it there to hurt it.

1st The NRA is calling for trained professionals to guard our children, and they are offering to train them as a free service to American schools.
2nd and more importantly, this should not be a national or even state government issue, these types of decisions should be handled at the local level, because only they know what level of protection they can afford and need.

This is a ridiculous discussion. We already have armed officers in nearly every middle school and high school of any size, they are called "resource officers". The only debate involves expanding this to elementary schools. Of course, we should, there is no sane argument against it.

In my home state of Louisiana there is an armed cop in every school. It is very possible. It was established before the crazies started shooting up school. It is a good idea. It prevents fights and theft. Also never hear of a school shootings happening on campus much here.

Why can't the teachers be given training on firearms? I say if the Teacher wants to carry a gun at work (or anyone really) then they should have to provide paperwork showing that they did have training to use that firearm. A copy of that documentation could be kept at the workplace.

There is no reason why this couldn't be done, and if the teachers are carrying it in a concealed fashion then the students wouldn't even know that a teacher has it on them.
