So here I am sitting watching the news, I see a young boy talking about how he “saw and heard” the bullets of a gun man. The headline below this innocent child’s face reads “27 people killed in Connecticut shooting, 18 children”.

I am not to beat about the bush hear but as a British guy looking in on this I am shocked, there have been more of these type of mass shootings this year than I can count. Every month I am seeing some state governor passing on his heartfelt condolences to the families of the dead.

How about this instead America rather than having your leaders “apologise” to all the dead families how about you do this? Get out of the Wild West and the 18th century and BAN THE GUN!!! You are not cowboys anymore, you are not John Rambo the British are not about to invade you.

For the “guns don’t kill people, people do”, stop hiding behind an old cliché, if you lot bothered with proper gun control I would not be watching this disturbing story.

To be clear, I am not saying ban all guns or ban the gun overnight, what I am saying is that you lot need to grow up and some proper gun regulation. You need gun reform, it’s very simple, none of you gun enthusiasts needs 40 guns with 1200 rounds of ammunition.

Stop hiding behind that ancient bit of paper, your constitution, you all need to grow a set and sort out your gun problem before you have anoter 18 dead kids, who knows next time it could be one of yours, I pray it is not and i pray for the families of those affected

There are two sides of a coin. If you just view "the other side" as your name suggests.....then you'll only see the evil people wielding the guns, not the responsible ones who never use them, unless protecting their wives or children.....or even to just keep a rogue government from kicking in their door and doing what they want. This has happened in every megalomaniac government before....and AMERICA is no different! Guns are no more dangerous than a car or a hammer.....it is the person that holds each of these that is the danger. It is the mind that we are at war with.... not the gun.

Taking away the guns from Americans, leaves them defenseless against the very people you speak of and a government who has proven to be a nightmare to the world. If a nightmare to the world...what would they do to us, as Americans, if we had no way to protect ourselves? Like in 1776? No much worse now! I hate to be rude, but there are 3 scenarios when it comes to you and your post...you are either ignorant, suicidal....or working for the government and trying to convince people here (along with the others....and by number) to willingly hand in their guns. This is suicidal for us. The criminals care not about your laws!

Thus in the end....innocent, law abiding Americans are left without protection by following a law that you want passed....and the criminals will do what they have always done...traffic guns and kill. Only now Amerians who are obeying the law will be sheep ready for a "literal" slaughter.

Your ideas are worthless and moot!

You will never get it done!

You see American's learn from this evil government. It's all illusion. Make them THINK they have all your guns.....and when they kick in your door.....just another American lie.

Congratulations, your children have learned well. The government can take the weapons...but let's face it, you will only get the weapons of Granny, Grandpa...stupid Red's and Blues....but the rest of us......you're gonna have to contend with. Your arrogance, entitles you the thought that you have mesmerized all American's and hypnotized us with the sway of your pecuniary charms, however, now that the well is dry...we awaken quickly. Your lies have been enumerated, discussed, pondered in secret and informants have leaked your missions.

America will be remain all that she was...only this time she will learn from her mistakes and history will never be suppressed again.

It won't be as easy as you think. It will take more than media lies and propaganda, which everyone is fully aware of now......to take our weapons.

It will take more than media stage show of the CIA killing children every other day, using technologies like Multiple Micro Electrode Array Technology and '___' to "terrify us" into submitting....Americans will NEVER SUBMIT to fear tactics!. If one does...then they are no true American,.......they are just someone with dirt from our country on their shoes an no more!

They may take their leave...along with you and your cancerous ideas, which are no stranger to the men who died in 1775-1778!

By the way, the CONSTITUTION is not an ancient piece of paper (as you say, and who cares what you say?)...it is a foundation of an EMPIRE, which without would fall like all empires before have fallen using your mentality. Every building needs a foundation to stand....and yet you suggest that we chip away at the the foundation of the very Empire that made us even greater that your UK ever was.........until we were hijacked! Someone may be a little jealous that America became a star...and the UK has always been know as a murderer of history. This is why all should know that it is the UK.....THAT HAS HIJACKED AMERICA FROM THE INSIDE, via Skull and Bones, and all other hidden venues that were so well funded from the UK, that we all know so well at ATS.

The constitution is antiquated, yes...however it has lasted 200 years until your kind started messing with the ideas and trying to convince people in America that...tyranny and abandoning that which has always worked....is not worth having, simply because of age.

Antiquity is to be revered and respected,. especially when it has worked for 200 years,...it's not to be destroyed and replaced with tyranny, as you are suggesting, with an inferior corporate idea (whatever), simply because it's a new FAD of the day. Only your shoppers, or those weak enough to be hypnotized by your gluttonous wares, will think this is a good idea.

I suspect you are nothing more that a government "whipping boy", who doesn't know the difference between reality, and what he has been programmed to think. No more that a robot, who is willing to sell his soul, even at the future expense of his own children, wife or extended families. Selfishness is indeed rewarded.

There is an eternal, spiritual place reserved for you and your kind.

It is coming and quickening.

You'll be able to get guns anywhere in the world for 500 years after iron is being manufactured. Maybe we as a species should stop making guns. There are enough to get any job done right already. Banning them outrIght is useless though. The problem is that our society has fallen into chaos. Perhaps we should consider that our communities are incapable of protecting us anymore from those elements, and that we should take responsibility for protecting our families. In the past it was an individual's responsibility to protect his family. Nothing has changed but our attitude about it.

At the very least it is a local issue and should not be dealt with on a national front, like it is being done here, now. It is not in the nations interest or ability to come into your small town and decide for you what is the best way for your family to stay safe, nor should it be.

It is a shame that we put the spotlight on something like this, all the bickering and national publicity just feeds into the problem.

Something like 4 times higher than your closeest rival to the claim

"Gun deaths"?

You are concatenating two separate issues. Which concerns you more - guns? Or deaths?

Why does no one ever bitch and whine about "crowbar deaths", "claw hammer deaths", "knife deaths", etc? Why are those deaths somehow preferable to evil "gun deaths"? Should not the issue be death, by whatever means brutish louts choose to deliver it?

If you want to play with statistics, at least be honest enough not to try skewing the results in favor of your argument. If you're going to compare violence, compare it to violence...

Criminals don't obey the law, so how is slapping more gun control laws going to stop them? It won't. Banning guns will simply keep citizens DEFENSELESS AGAINST SAID CRIMINALS. In most public places, like schools, guns are ALREADY banned and prohibited, yet that didn't stop them, did it?

Let me preface this comment by saying that I staunchly opposed any sort of ban on weapons prior to this incident.

While I still am not 100% convinced of what I am about to say, I believe the question needs to be asked:

Why do we need to have assault weapons capable of killing 10s, 100s, etc. amount of people within a few seconds? While I understand the argument that we can't completely stop insane people from killing people, it also should not be as easy as it is for someone to indiscriminately kill 20 children. I don't think the 2nd Amendment needs to be abolished, but why should assault rifles be allowed anymore? They don't serve a purpose for hunting- they are intended to kill. Drugs, cars, other things that can kill people are not designed to be intrinsically dangerous- unlike the assault rifle or other guns. I think it is time to ban assault weapons that can kill masses of people in seconds.

Full disclaimer: I know very little about guns, other than that my father is in the US Navy and I will soon be inheriting a pistol of his.

An armed population is a population protected from a tyranical government.

People die and are injured much more in vehicle crashes...why don't you try and ban those and leave the people's protection alone.

How exactly is owning a gun protecting yourself against the government? I mean really!? If they wanted to, they could bomb your whole house, and blow your ass, gun or no gun in your closet or under your bed. Protecting yourself from the government these days has almost nothing to do with guns, and everything to do with real freedoms. The second amendment thing is the biggest croc I've ever heard.

Yes, sorry- as you can see my knowledge of guns is quite low which I admit, but essentially any semi-automatic capable of X amount of rounds per minute.

This tragedy was done without the use of "assault weapons" there sparky. And, CT does have an assoult weapons ban in place already. I guess knowing something about the topic you are trying to promote (the banning mentality) would be pretty helpful before opening your mouth, but, that's just my opinion.

Next....

Guns are purely for killing, if a crowbar or clawhammer kills someone it has been misused.

When guns were banned in Washington, in the 10 years after they were banned the murder rate dropped compared to the 10 years before it. The only statistically significant change was the amount of gun deaths, knives, baseball bats, crowbars didnt go up.
To say people would just find another weapon is based on assumption whereas people who say deaths would go down have some evidence to back it up.

Your right, death is death however its delivered but guns make it that much more easy

This "ancient bit of paper" is still relatively young compared to your Magna Carta. Go ahead, burn yours first...
My advice to all non-U.S. citizens is to mind your own damn business. Its not your place to lecture us. The fact is guns are here in the U.S. and not going away anytime ever. We are guaranteed the right, and I emphasize the word right - ownership is not a privellage. They are an integral part of our history and helped shape our nation. The best part of this is that you now think I am some angry, undereducated gun-toting nut. I don't own any guns. I believe in the preservation of my right to own guns if I choose. I'll even go one further for you. Of all the people in the U.S., I am in the demographic that really has experienced the results of gun violence as a family member of a murder victim. I don't blame the gun, the gun maker or even the laws that were on the books at the time. I blame the person who made the choice to point a barrel at my 12 year old sister and pull the trigger.

You know what? These people were born and raised in this country, and they understand our culture. They know that there are many THOUSANDS of responsible gun owners all across this country.
I think it's sick that you try to use these suffering families as props to further your personal agenda/opinion.
You have no business putting words into their mouths, or attaching your own ideas to "what they are feeling".
You don't know what they think or feel.
I'd be willing to bet that some of the parents of these children own guns themselves.
Banning guns won't solve the problem. This is a societal problem, with mental health implications.

The Royal Family sucks away millions of Pounds each year to be supported, fed and protected. That money could feed a lot of people. Why don't you just get rid of the monarchy? Or the BBC? Or your football teams?
Why are you killing people with all of your deep-fried foods?
See how silly this sounds? These things ( including the horrible food ) are a part of your culture.
It's part of the fabric of your society. ( I'm assuming you're a Brit like the OP...you came off that way to me ).

America is what it is....and we're not going to change course just because a couple of psychopaths decided to act out with violence.
I'm kind of sick of these armchair analysts from other countries throwing this BS out without any real understanding of the issues involved. There's been a lot of that around here today.

If this supposed International Community, Or NWO really cared about the world...they would first disarm themselves and then the rest of the world so that there would be NO more guns or nukes, or these unheard of technological feats, that we will soon be introduced to. It would start with themselves!

A leader must first be able to do what he demands of his troops, otherwise he is a hypocrite!

Will the NWO lead by example?

You decide..... as history is the best predictor, of future events.

I admit my knowledge of guns is lacking, but again, I ask...Why should it be legal to own a gun that can kill 20 people in just a few seconds? I also am against completely banning guns, but at the very least, further regulation appears necessary. If new laws were imposed, they might not be able to stop what just happened in CT, but they may be able to stop a future crime. No law will ever be able to wipe out the human factor, but again, why should it be so easy to get these weapons?

You or I could not purchase a M-1 Abrams tank with a working canon or with ammunition. My understanding is that the shooter used a few pistols and a semi-automatic.

I would like to hear something new from you all. So what CAN be done about people being killed by guns?

What is your idea?

Man has been killing each other since the dawn of time with better weapons each time.

Not that long ago in Cheyenne, Wyoming, another deranged person slashed the throat of his father's girlfriends and went the local community college and killed his father with a bow. There have been several stories over the past year about people with swords robbing and running amuck, yet we have heard no calls to ban swords or bows. It is not the tool, it is the people. Guns are the current choice, but a group of men with box cutters managed to kill 3,000 people on 9-11-yet you can buy a box cutter anywhere. You will never get all the guns if you ban them and only the criminals will be armed. You think where every you are now, that you are safe? You are not. Tomorrow you could be face down in the street drifting towards darkness, wondering if I could have defended myself, would I still be alive?

Want something new? There seems to be a lot of broken people walking around and why is that? I do not believe bulling is the answer, I believe it is a lot more than that.

Bow Murder

Sword Attack

Sword Robbery

Yes I have been arguing my right to bear arms all day. There are so many threads. And this is an important subject to me. As it should be for all Americans. This is our Constitution.

We don't need to entirely ban the gun, but much more regulations is needed.

- A regular citizen has no need for an an assault rifle. What purpose does owning one serve?
- Private dealers can sell guns at a gun show without doing a background check.
- Guns are easily purchased online - even at walmart.com!

Guns are too easily available to anyone, mental health issues or not.

Assault Rifles are automatics which require a mountain of paperwork to acquire. There are Private sellers at gun shows selling firearms, that is still legal. I recommend to my customers to use a FFL to make the transfer. Yes you can buy firearms online, but they must ship to FFL dealer to complete the NICS check or what other requirements that are required in the state in which the transfer is to take place.

Every person who buys a weapon from a FFL must undergo a Check if you fail the check or there is a side issue like you are straw buyer or under the influence or anything, the dealer is not required to sell you a weapon-even if you happen to pass the NICS check. Until the BATFE gets the medical records in the NICS database then these "mental" people will be missed. I agree that the system needs to streamlined for both the dealer and for the public.

Yes it should, it's a very good reason to make guns more difficult and expensive to own, which will decrease the supply and make it harder for young people to buy them.

Since I was a gun owner prior to the Crime Bill of 1994 also known as the AWB 94...it did just that made a firearm that cost $289 prior to the ban cost more than $900 eight years in. Everything was high priced and I was an average hard working person, only those who made more money than I, could afford those weapons, so again only the wealthy and a person of means could afford those and of course the criminals. This is the same logic that was used on Class III weapons, and yes they are prohibitively expensive today. Yet, if you have the money you can buy one and so can those same criminals. No, the whole thing is nothing but a band aide. It will not matter how expensive or how long sentences are, when the insane are intent with killing themselves. These problems did not begin on there own. If you manage to ban all the guns, the criminals will still have them and those intent on murder will find another way.
