I don't think i could say # bricks... haha... honestly something will happen.. mass suicides like jones town come to mind, I will be extremely sad to hear of it and I hope none of my friends consider that option at anytime..but just from 3 pages of responses here.. I can definitely see people trying to force bad things to happen.

I asked the op in the other thread what he would happen to his mom and him if his event didn't happen on the 21st I didn't get an answer so I am alittle worried for him and his mom because it seems they are really invested in this event.

As am I, and my own character flaw is I turn worry into anger, and sometimes it comes across like that on a silly message board.

If nothing happens,then I guess we'll all be here on ATS talking about whatever.In my town I am concerned about the crazies crawling out of the woodwork and harming others or themselves.I hope everything turns out fine and dandy.Plus it'll be my bro's bday and he always got the short end of the stick on gifts due to Christmas,he would be disappointed once again if TSHTF- haha.

That vid really brought it home, what frame of mind some fragile people will be in, if nothing happens. Just hammering in *I told you so* can actually cause the very things we are concerned about. It was a powerful message to me. I do hope more people watch it. Thank You for doing so....

I don't know.. that OP was so aggressive and rude it's hard to judge what will happen. I don't know that he'll take it so well and of course the mom with 12 years of hope and dedication in.. the fact is those are not the only 2 people on the planet and we all need to make sure we can come together and support those through a despair we can't imagine.. I don't know.. we can only pray and hopefully help when our time comes.. sure alot of ppl will be ok and say oh well.. my contact said they had to push it to may 2013 or whatever.. but there will be more than a few who will be extremely distraught.

Crazies coming out of the woodwork is what I am most afraid of to be honest. Vegas is a big tourist town. So not only do I have to worry about the nuts wanting to make something happen who live here( and there must be a few, if you live in Vegas you know what I am talking about) but I also have to worry about tourists who feel like making a point against sin city as target number 1 for them.

I don't understand why anyone would want to kill themselves. Even if by a one in a billion chance something big does happen, wouldn't you want to watch it and experience it instead of copping out ahead of time. Anyone can die, living is the challenge. Suicide is not an option, noone should commit suicide over this day.

Look at the 39 who dies in heavens gate... And perhaps they commit suicide at the end of the day or the next. I hope not. But the closer it comes, the bigger it gets for some of these people.

I was on that 'other' thread you alluded to in your beginning statement and decided to come over to this thread.

Like you, and as others have also responded, if nothing happens on Dec. 21st, 2012, there is the possibility of terrible, horrific consequences for a great many people. For these great many people, should no apocalyptic, ascension, or any number of doomsday, end of the world scenarios Not occur, they may feel totally helpless, filled with dread and that their lives have no meaning and simply end their lives. (Many reasons, personal and unique, but also mass similarities)

This would truly be a travesty, however none us really knows right now what will actually happen. However, history has told us, shown us, that there are people who place all of their trust into prophesies of others and when these prophesies do not occur, people choose to tragically end their lives.

I personally do not believe any thing of significance will happen on the 21st, 22nd, or 23rd that would warrant mass hysteria, except for the hysteria of those who thought something ominous was going to occur, but it didn't.

Individually what can we do? Just be extra careful, safe and observant. Your choice of staying home and inside during this time period probably is a wise choice. I have no doubt that there will be some crazies out on the roads, sober or not, but if you can avoid the roads, probably a smart choice. If you can remain at home with family and loved ones, probably a smart choice.

Well apparently, the poster called onequestion believes these things happen in cycles and since he/she won't explain his/her stance.... we're just led to believe mass suicides are just part of the cycle??

Of course, it's not a laughing matter but the lack of evidence/explaination is undeniable. Maybe all we need is faith... but then that would mean we are supposed to have faith in mass suicides. See what happens when those "in the know" can't explain themselves.

But it's all just "over my head" as he/she likes to believe. Must be code for "in the stars" since they are over our heads.

You sir, have I guess.... issues. And I dont mean that in a derogatory way in the slightest. I do however think that maybe a therapist wouldn't hurt. Someone to talk to...Heck I had one for quite some time and they work wonders (as long as you don't go on any rx's in my opinion at least) But you take paranoia to a whole new level. You don't know me. You don't know my family. Yet you assume to insinuate some pretty nasty things about me. You disparage the city I live in, without disclosing yours?

Do you know why I live in Las Vegas? My daughter and her mother moved here. For me it was stay in LA, or move to Vegas so I could be near my daughter. That was 6 years ago. I have nothing to do with the casino industry. Not that it matters, because those folks who work at the casino are hard working, nice people. Working for around 50-75k these days. I on the other hand won tell you what I do, because I honestly don't feel like telling you any more information about myself, since you seem to be a very angry paranoid person. But I will tell you I have my phd in physical anthropology, so you can make a guess as to what I do.


In all man, I hope you let go of all that paranoia. I'm sure you are a very bright person. It would be nice to share your intelligence in a way that doesn't accuse people of being government shills or what not just because they disagree with you.

Really strange about those people all descending on that town in France. Hadn't heard of that! I thought the 'safe places' were all in South America for some reason.

Anyway, I do hope people keep their senses about them. You know, I prepared for Y2K even though my husband thought I was crazy until I mentioned ammunition being bought up. Then he jumped on the bandwagon right along with me.

Fortunately nothing came of that (to speak of) and we were none the worse for it, and I wasn't angry at all. In fact, I had surplus for the rest of the year on lots of stuff. Anytime one of my kids said, "Mom do we have any more [toothpaste, shampoo, Benadryl, bandaids] ?" I would just say "Check the Y2K storage." This went on for the rest of the year! It was great, actually, to have it handy.

That's my hope... nothing bad happens and people can just use up the supplies they stockpiled.
