Rather than taking away military grade firearms from cartels, an impossibility on the face of it, why not equip the Mexican people with military grade firearms en-masse?

This would tip the balance of force massively in favor of the non-criminal element.

Good question. Problem I see with this is the problem in general, greed. People can be corrupted by greed and things they want, for example money.

Not only that, I am sure the Mexican people are terrified of these cartels. Fear is their best weapon.

mexico has always been this bad. I am not sure why people are surprised. I used to frequent it when i was a teen living in el paso texas.. you could just walk over to juarez mexico.

the border there was riddled with female deaths that were ignored by both united states and mexican law enforcement because the women would be dumped right at the border.

I really do not know why this is so outrageous. they have executed presidential candidates on live tv.

I watched it happen.. it was unreal. ever since then i know how bad that country is.

the year i moved to indiana they found a bunch of graves cartel related at a ranch not too far where i lived. I went up to it a few times when i go out exploring the desert around my neighborhood.

Mexico has never been a nice place.. now it is just hell. Back in the 90s you were able to go over there "safely"... today all the places i used to visit are abandoned. Movie type mafia stuff happens there. My uncle owned bars in mexico and lived there too. as things got bod they began to extort him for money for protection.. yeah when he told us that i thought he was joking b ecause it sounded like an italian mafia movie.. well he was serious about it. he moved back to texas and eventually sold the bars because they threatened to put a hit on him since he moved out of the country to avoid paying up. he did sell the bars at a discount.


I really see no hope for mexico. the people are too uneducated and the ones who are educated are too few to do anything about it. All aspects of government are corrupt. It was not uncommon for police chiefs to use inmates to commit crimes for them. It is such a sad state.

My opinion: The US should declare a true war on drugs, send in a whole freaking army in mexico, kill the drug lords or anything that has the prefix 'drug', clean the whole of mexico and thats that.

I bet it wouldn't take more than 2-3 days to kill all of those bastards. If they're in a jungle somewhere just send F-16 and carpet bomb them, or they have fortified homes or encampments, carpet bomb the whole freaking area.

In my opinion thats what those sub-humans deserve.

Great now my pulse is going through the roof ... Hate those bastards.

If you did this you would just create more people who want the US destroyed.

I didn't mean like Iraq and Afganistan, those are obviously occupations. Use the CIA and FBI get the names of the drug lords and their labs and hideouts, shoot and bomb the hell out of them. The strategic way not the invading way, no need to bomb cities.

Well, i've had short interactions with the mafia types in my town. I've seen some in some bars, some wanted to do bad stuff to me (theft or kill or beat up) and these guys are nothing compared to the guys in mexico, these are little puppies and you just can't change them its in their blood, its how they were rased the only solution is killing them without thinking about it twice.

As i called them in my first post sub-humans, thats what they are and they only deserve death for their actions. Its logical because they would do the same thing.

my idea....more along the lines of the afore mentioned tome clancy novel....but wiht out "official" u.s backing...send in a group of mercs to hunt and execute the heads of the cartel...fun these guys to basically go to war with them and wipe them out...hell...i'd love to be in on that

No, you do not try and kill them all. What are you thinking? For every one you would take out, another would step in their place. The ONLY method of controlling this situation is to remove the demand for the drugs, or destroy the drugs, or their ability to obtain them.

Saying that, a great opportunity for some technology that can seek out and destroy sizable caches of certain drugs. If we can send spacecraft to Mars, then we could certainly do this if we really put our pencil heads of the world on the problem.

It is not being done, because either no one is in charge, or those in charge are as corrupt as the people with the guns. That later group would also seem to be a great target, but they would be readily replaced as well.

I would go with a high tech solution, and it must be done from the outside.

shut the border down, that will stop it.

allow NO one from mexico into the u.s. for 6 months
put automatic machine guns with heat seeking abilities
that lock on a heat source by them self, and then shoot..
warn everyone to stay away from the border.

this will stop the flow of drugs into the u.s. (or seriously slow it
down) therefor drying up the money generated from the u.s.

no one to sell to, the cartel's will slowly fade away.
before long, they will go broke and not be able to operate.

seems the u.s. is the main ones to take the illegal drugs to
for sale, so if you cut off the ability to sell the drugs, you
close down the cartel's..

im sure a few would survive, but after 6 months they would
be manageable for the mexican govt to handle.

She's the mayor that lives in gang territory...did it ever cross your mind to hire escorts? Especially after they already tried to kill you. Not trying to talk bad about her but that was stupid idea to go it alone and now you paid the price.
