I guess I am a cook too.

So, this past summer while enjoying beverages out in the backyard with my girlfriend, I'd notice a very bright red/orange solid light in the sky. Now from my backyard it is very common to see planes go east and west but very rarely see them go north and south, so I found it odd to see something flying south toward the city.

As it got closer I realized, this thing was not a flashing red that you see commonly on aircraft and instead was a solid red/orange that from the ground looked much like a red firework.

I got out of my seat as I wanted to get more of a perspective on this thing, it was at that point that a large 747 flew by not too far off, it wasn't until then that I realized- this things was LOW, very low. And didn't make a damn noise. Just as it got to be above my house it made a sharp turn and headed east, which is strange because the airport is way south of here.

I watched go behind some trees and never saw it again. Probably one of my only legitimate sitings.

No way that's a lantern, it's moving way to fast and it's huge!

In the Netherlands we had many sightings of orange orbs this summer and some people claim to see these fiery things on a day to day basis. I myself saw two on a night in august. For your interest, though it is in Dutch, the UFO sightings site in the Netherlands: www.ufomeldpunt.nl...

I live in the U.S. in the western part of the state of Tennessee. Last Thursday night, November 15th, my husband called me over to where he was standing outside and was pointing at the sky. I asked "What is it?" He said "A UFO!." I said "Shut up don't play with me!" Because he knows what a sucker I am for that kind of stuff and he has been known to trick me or kinda tease me about it. But I could tell he was serious when he said "Hurry look!" So I ran over and looked in the direction he was pointing and about the time I spotted it, a second one came over the treeline right behind it, then a third, fourth, then a fifth! They were exactly as others have described, an orange-red glowing light, not flashing and they made no sound and were very low in the sky. They were traveling at a fairly slow rate of speed in the direction of northeast to southwest.

They were traveling slow enough that I was able to run inside and grab my camera, which is a Canon PowerShot SX 150IS. It is a semi-manual camera, but has HD video capabilities. It's been a few weeks since I've used the camera and was disappointed when I turned it on the battery indicator was blinking, but I was able to film the glowing objects for a few minutes before the camera died. Although I wasn't able to video the objects for the entire time they were visible, it wasn't long after the camera shut off that the objects disappeared from our view. We couldn't tell if they disappeared on their own or if they became obscured by clouds or possibly trees, as there are many trees around our house.

I have yet to upload the video to my computer, but plan to do so today as this is the first day I've had since the incident that I am not extremely busy. When I get it uploaded I will upload it to my Youtube account then post a link or embed the video here in this thread. I was very excited to see this thread while browsing the Recent Posts and found it very ironic since this incident just happened so recently for me.

I look forward to seeing your video! I live in mid south TN and last year we use to sometimes see this good size orange ball of light hovering just over the treeline in a field, smaller white star like lights seem to come out of it. It was the most incredible thing I have ever witnessed! I did not have a camera last year that would have captured this, but that event is what made me go out and buy a good one!

Nice to meet another Tennessean! I am working on uploading the video now. I have it uploaded to my computer and I watched it. The objects seem a lot smaller & less bright in the video than they seemed in person. But I also am seeing a couple things in the video that I am questioning what they are that I didn't see in person. I think I am going to take a few screenshots of the video to add as well before I upload it to Youtube because the things I mentioned that I don't remember seeing kind of flash very quickly and easily missed while watching.

Give me a little bit to get this done and uploaded. I'm trying to work on this, figure out my Thanksgiving dinner grocery list so my husband can go for me, and figure out what we're having for supper tonight. The joys of being a mom and wife!

Keep the stories coming everyone. This really is a common thing it seems. Surely there must be more details and quality footage and or pictures of these things. Thank you to everyone for your contribution. These are deffinately not planes or lanterns!

Last night at approx 10.15 pm 20/11/12, over west Auckland, New Zealand.
My family and I observed two bright orange fiery, and soundless orbs (approx size of a 20 or 50 cent piece held at arms length.Hard to be more specific because of the surrounding glow) traveling at satellite speed, moving SE to NW.
Initially the second orb was a long way behind the first one, but by the time they disappeared in the NW had caught up to the first one. Sky was clear with no noticeable wind.
Viewed through binoculars they were globular, with a diffused edge.
Chinese lanterns, meteors or satellites they were not.

Great that you were able to view them through binoculars. Did they make any controlled manouvers?

what i am about to paste was posted by me on 1-10-2011 @ 01:35 AM
on the thread Orange Glowing Ball UFO pg. 2

okay so this morning at 12:20 AM i saw one of these orange colored glowing ufos in the night sky... i am located in st albans vermont and at that time, there were no flights going "directly" over st albans ...the closest flight over st albans around the same time was a continental(i believe) airliner coming from midwest area passing about 5 to 10 miles north of st. albans, possibly directly over swanton or alburgh, and the time this happened i was outside to see it at 12:35 AM. as soon as i seen it i rean up the stairs and grabbed my roomate and his girlfriend...by the time i ran up the stairs it was approximately at 60 degrees from the horizon 30 degrees from the zenith...they came outside with me and it was at about 10 degrees from zenith so we could still see it on the porch. I ran directly downstairs and viewed it until it dimmed out to about 10 percent of the magnitude, turned orange with a red tint and then just disappeared... the reason i speculate it is a ufo is because it was below the cumulous clouds which were not shaped to the point of something being able to pass through the cloud, unless it were to move up in altitude. this is personally the 4th or 5th time i have seen the SAME exact thing for around the same amount of time ...anywhere between 10 and 40 seconds then it just, disappears, once with an ex girlfriend, two other separate occasions with one person seeing one, and two people another, and once or twice by myself. can anybody speculate what i might of see, or where it was from....oh by the way, there was no noise whatsoever coming from the object, and from what ive heard described about sattelites and weather balloons it was neither. please provide me with some info if possible.... is this where i would post this sort of thing??

what i failed to put was that one time i was talking about it and seen it and another time i was THINKING about it and it was there!!!!! has anybody else experienced this???? maybe in vermont????

Ok finally, here is my video. I stated in my original reply that the orbs did not flash, but they are flashing in the video. It's very strange because even my husband said when we were watching them they were just solid floating lights. Also, they appeared larger in person than they seem on the video.

Anyway....enjoy!

I have seen two of these types of objects. First was in 1996 - an orange one which was moving across the sky above us. Second was in 1997 - a blue one with the exact same configuration which was manoeuvering in a gully.

The orange one I saw was reported to a UFO researcher within two days of it occurring and it appears somewhere on this page - www.auforn.com...

As you can see just by skimming that page, 1996 was a big year for glowing orange UFO sightings in Australia. Interesting that these "flaps" happen on a regional basis - SE Australia in 1996-97 and NZ in 2012

That object on the far right that you can see around the 1 minute mark impressed me -- it seems to have such sudden horizontal movement.

My husband mentioned that also, but to be honest I'm not sure if the object moved or if that was me moving the camera. I was moving quite a bit, as you can probably tell from the pretty shaky video, but I was trying to move to a spot in the backyard where I could film them better and follow the objects as they were moving.

Thanks for your input though. I wish I knew for sure if it was the object moving or me.
