The ignorance in this thread is appalling.

It is pathetic how many Americans posting here seem to correlate what the OP is saying with a weaker America. You people do realise that for a very prolonged time now America has been the running joke of the civilized world?

And a joke America will remain if they elect another fool like Romney into office. Everyone sees that this is another repeat of Bush except, it seems, Americans. How painful it is to see die hard left wing or right wind extremists. In my mind these people are no different than terrorist. They have not a single care for their countries well being and constantly just throw their extremist opinions everywhere and do not listen to a single word of reason. All they care about is propagating their, typically, wrong opinions while the rest of the world watches on in horror while thinking "Oh grow up already".

When Obama wanted to implement universal health care so many people seemed to scream "Socialism!!!!!!!". I'm still dumbfounded by that. I mean, was it supposed to be some kind of joke? Just look at what countries have implemented universal health care.

Practically every prosperous country in the world has adopted universal health care and yet you still have fools over in America that attack the idea for being socialistic. The same fools whose opinions were probably moulded by private interest parties that have giant stakes in the healthcare industry! And even if universal healthcare was the be all end all of socialism there should still be no problem adopting it if it's progress for the greater good!

So then is it any surprise that the rest of the world continues to consider America a joke? That Americans are considered uneducated fools? If Romney is elected and people inevitably, immediately, realize they elected another Bush as the entire world is saying then I doubt Americans will have any hope of being raised back to respectable levels in the eyes of the civilized world.

If over 50% of Americans vote for this guy I personally will lose whatever respect I have for Americans. Between this guy and Bush Americans have just about proven their greatest skill to be making uneducated decisions which negatively affect their country and the world at large. I for one am tired of getting into political arguments with Americans and will settle perfectly fine with "I told you so, #ing idiot." a line that I got very accustomed to after Bush won his second term.

And they are all closer to the fiscal cliff than we are.

We spent 19 times more than everyone else combined on our military, so they don't have to (and so they can give their people UHC.)

I can see where you're coming from. Romney does make himself out to be things I can't mention here in ATS. However, at the moment most Americans are more concerned with fixing our economy than we are with Romney reinforcing negative American stereotypes. We tried Obama, and while he admittedly got dealt a pretty bad hand of cards to begin with, things are even worse now than they where when he first took office. Like, trillions of dollars /more/ in debt worse. Romney seems to be the only one of them who knows how basic economics works. I honestly don't know if foreign relations will go back to the way they where during the Bush administration, but hopefully America has learned her lesson and won't ALLOW it to go back to that.

Don't worry OP.

He wont win.

It will be an embarrassment for the US if he does.... but I very much doubt he will.

Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen so I'm not voting, but I think I express the international sentiment well when I say that we are very concerned about how close this race is, and how close the USA is from potentially bringing back the Bush/Cheney era crazies like Condi Rice (who sat beside Romney during the GOP convention), deregulation, military-inductrial buildup and all manner of crony-capitalism. During the Bush Jr. years, is was like losing an old friend, and now we've seen that friend returning, however slowly the comeback has been. I am aware of the Romney campaign torture memo and it just sent shivers down my spine that one of their first priorities is to bring back the kind of thing that the devil, if there is one is known to specialize in (torture).

We, the citizens of the world want a moderate, friendly and benevolent America, not a domineering one, and we're a little freaked out over just how close this race is, and to be honest, we're at a bit of a loss as to how it could even be that close to begin with.

Romney's a Mormon who ran a "rigged game" at his company Bain Capital, and while that's considered by some to be good business it really doesn't add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things. Regarding his Mormonism and what I've learned about it, that too just creeps me right out the idea of that church being tied right into the highest office in the land.

It's scary - so I'm asking for God to inform the minds of the American people to choose yes what is probably the "lessor of two evils", but by God how stupid can the American people be to think that Romney has the best interests of the average American Joe at heart. He's a big business, ruling elite, crony-capitalist in a stuffed suit, who will cowtow to the lowest demoninators in terms of ruling elite special interest and he's on record stating that a two state solution to the M.E. problem is utterly impossible and hopeless while siding exclusively with Israel. And to top it all off, he's not even that smart from what I can tell.

Please oh God help keep the world safe from the kind of America we witnessed during the Bush/Cheney years, and please keep our individual and collective mutual best interests safe from the pilfering of the rich and greedy. Amen.

First of all, you Canadians have your heads so far up the Queen's Tush that you barely qualify as members of free humanity and you had better just hope you never have to defend yourselves because as a nation, you are about as competent as a 12 year old school girl. Secondly, if you love Obama, you had better hope you don't catch on fire because I would not piss on you to put you out.

These points having been made and my utter lack of respect or regard for Canadians having been conveyed, I am well aware that Romney is mostly a White version of Obama but if Obama is re-elected my country is doomed and has no chance whatsoever of diverting this Marxist Nightmare Obama and all the Dregs with him are pushing us with all their might.

As for the Obamanoids rioting in the streets, I see that as mostly a good thing and wonderful opportunity to clean our country up and you are very welcome to join them.

PS. Oh God, please save us from the low life dregs that have swelled up to strangle our country and smite the pissants that use your name in vain.

I'm from the UK and don't want to upset any of my American friends, but the fact that you could potentially have a man as your President who is so stupid that he doesn't realise why you can't open the windows on planes really tells you all that you need to know.

It isn't exactly a contest based on merit, is it?

He made the comment as a tongue-in-cheek joke, trying to lighten the mood surrounding his wife's scare on the plane.

Well remember they voted it someone who didn't know how many states there are.

Here is the current option.

Would you like me to cut off your right or left arm?

It didn't look very tongue in cheek to me, and he didn't wait for a laugh, there was just a couple of embarrassed laughs from a handful of people.

It doesn't matter if you found it funny or not. If you honestly think that Romney believes that plane windows should be able to open, then I worry for your own mental well-being.

You didn't find it funny, but that doesn't matter. It is painfully obvious that he was attempting to make a joke. It may not have been a particularly funny joke, but it was a joke nonetheless.

God is not concerned with the winner of this presidetial race. God is going to usher in His Kingdom to rule all the Nations of the Earth in a few short months.

Pray for God's will to be done on Earth, not our own.

God Bless,

Being benevolent don`t bring much positive things too. Just take a look at the situation in the Middle East.

Obama was only a shoe in to prevent the US from going berserk with another Republican/Cheney/Bush admin. Now that the water has cooled off for 4-years, time to get back to business.

Why is it horrible for a guy in one party to bomb villages, imprison people indefinitely, sign off on Orwellian legislature and siphon off money to his cronies but when a guy from the other party does all that and more it's somehow righteous and grand?

All the reasons people are posting for fearing Romney are things Obama is doing right now.

You cant be so trained by this partisan nonsense that you honestly cannot see reality.

Just because Romney is wealthy doesn't make him the devil antichrist who doesn't know his elbows from a dollar bill. Considering Romney had to explain economics to Obama during the debates like Obama was a little child, he certainly knows more about it than Obama seems to. Besides, no one runs for President as a "get rich quick" scheme, or in Romney's case "get richer quicker."

You can't have capitalism based on christian values. The two concepts are mutually exclusive. Capitalism is about trying to grab the biggest piece of the pie for yourself which is the direct opposite of what christianity advocates.
