While I'm most definitely NOT a Neocon, I am a supporter of Israel

So then why do you support it, what is the point?

People forget that tiny little Israel, home to 6 million Jews, is surrounded by 1.2 Billion Muslims in dozens of countries that want to kill them. I'd be apprehensive too.

Yeah, all the arabs want to kill them
That's why there are Jews in Iran, Egypt, Yemen and other middle eastern countries still alive.

I agree, if everyone around them outnumbers them and wants to kill them...

Maybe that's a sign they ought to think about moving to a more hospitable neighborhood?

I'd be kind of pissed off if someone moved into my neighborhood and started strong arming out my neighbors, kicking them out of their homes and importing their friends from Europe.

It kind of reminds me of what the white European settlers did to the Native American tribes.

"Um yeah sorry, this is our land now. Here, we're going to put you up on a nice little patch of land called a reservation. Oh, and it's way over there. Don't worry, we'll even show you the way -- just follow and march along!"

Of course some of the people are going to support it because they benefit from it. If you do some checking on the settlers in Israel they are no different from the claim jumpers from the old west. They move in steal other peoples land then cry they are attacking us if the people try to get it back. Israel shames the word democracy when they call Israel a democratic nation.

While I'm most definitely NOT a Neocon, I am a supporter of Israel. Now, assuming that this poll accurately reflects the feelings of Israelis as a whole (and you know what they say about making assumptions) then I can kind of understand it.

There is no good reason to support discrimination. And coming from a group that constantly brings up the holocaust just shows they are nothing but hypocrites.

Even though Jewish Israelis and Arab Israelis within the borders of Israel proper are living in total peace, the same can't be said about the West Bank. Israelis read the news just like we do, and from their prospective they are being surrounded by newly Islamist regimes bent on their destruction. That prospect is frightening enough without allowing a Fifth column of West Bank Jihadists easy access to Israel.

What did the Zionist think was going to happen when they moved in on other peoples land and destroyed their homes? That the people there was going to welcome them with open arms? And they are doing this not only to Muslims but Christians as well.

People forget that tiny little Israel, home to 6 million Jews, is surrounded by 1.2 Billion Muslims in dozens of countries that want to kill them. I'd be apprehensive too.

Israel is not surrounded by 1.2 billion Muslims. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the whole world. And Israels actions since the creation of Israel shows they have no desire to live in peace with their neighbors.

Then again, people also forget about David and Goliath and how history has a way of repeating. You watch, the Muslims are going to keep on backing Israel into a corner. At some point, the Israelis may feel threatened enough to follow the example of another Biblical hero: Sampson. On that day, I wonder how many Muslims will be shouting Allah U'Ackbar as their cities disappear in nuclear fireballs?

If you don't want history to repeat itself you first need to learn from it. Whatever happens to Israel is what Israel brings upon itself. And if Israel ever drops a nuke on another nation then Israel has just signed it's own death warrant. Because then the rest of the world will step in and Israel will cease to exist.

Be careful what you wish for.

Advice Israel should listen to as well.

Keep in mind that the word "apartheid" means "separate development". Most people I've asked seem to think it means "prejudiced" or "racist" or some like connotation. There's nothing wrong with separate development. If my neighbor wants to terrorize the neighborhood, rob, pillage, run planes into buildings, vandalize, and generally act like petulant 2 year olds and I want to go to school, get an education, turn the neighborhood into a garden paradise then we are developing separately.

Keep in mind that Palestinians TWICE invaded Israel, got their butts kicked (and land seized). Israel built up the seized lands with hotels and businesses then GAVE IT BACK TO THE PALESTINIANS.....TWICE! Horrible racists those Israelis against the poor, helpless, defenseless wronged Palestinians.

Also, keep in mind that Palestine had the same offer to become a nation/state the same time that Israel did. Muslims insisted that Palestine NOT become a nation state because of their geographically strategic position to Israel.

Learn your history people and quit acting like you're so enlightened because you regurgitate the liberal (and FALSE) pablum spoon-fed to you on the television. You know they call television "programming" for a reason.

...er 1.

I get the JP and do a lot of reading. From the perspective of the JP, they are proud of their mix. They write that the Arabs are welcome and that many Islamic citizens enjoy their freedom more in Israel than anywhere else. However, in one of the articles it mentioned that most Israeli Jews don't fear scuds or Palestinians as much as their own neighbors.

Secondly, the other groups that insist on elimnating Israel are a bunch of hypocrites. How many of them are over here studying and possibly threatening us? They are on occupied land that we stole from the historic rightful owners, the Native American Indians. The Jews have a historic right to be there, and there is no where else they can go where they are a majority. True this intelligent bunch of people are sometimes difficult to live with they are so darn smart! However, they have a right to be where they are from. We here in the US are mostly not here because our great great grandfathers were here.

I strongly assert racism here. There is fear too, that God just may do what he said he would, thereby supposedly disproving every other faith. What a bunch of nonsense! He must be laughing at us up there. Nothing will stop it if he changes things.

If you'd live in Israel and feel what its like to be under threat for life every day, you`d turn right-wing nationalist pretty quick. Do you realize how many liberals have moved to Israel only to become fiercly anti-liberal only a few years later? Reality changes your mind.

Then go. A quick word of advice before your flight, stealing land tends to piss people off.

Even so, the fact of the matter remains that we stole land too. And we killed a bunch of people, treated them poorly and stuck them on a res. Don't think you have any plans do you?

I wish Americans were generous, kind and adventurous enough to give Israelis a piece of land inside the US borders. And i wish Israelis were logical, less fanatic and brave enough to accept that offer so they could have lived in peace and harmony at last without the constant fear from the Muslims... And Palestinians could get their lands back and have a life for a change without the fear of Israelis...Then there would be no more conflict between Iran and America, and as a result no more conflict in the whole ME,That could possibly have impacted the whole worlds situation for the better.People could have lived with no fears,no sanctions, no wars no Alqaida and no Armagedon. Then all of us could have concentrated on the main issue facing us the economy, and i am sure we could have come up with a solution if we put our differences aside......Or perhaps i am too idealistic...seems like "they" are intentionally promoting constant conflicts in the ME and the world....I sooo hate them greedy war mongers fear profiters.

They should have moved the Zionists back to their original place: Khazaria.

It's far away from Palestine, and the Bolsheviks would have loved them, leaving the real Jews their homeland despite the Arab majority, which they actually got along with for a time.

But that wouldn't fly because the region at the time was controlled by the Soviets, and god forbid Uncle Sam lets Auntie Izzy into Papa Bear Russ's arms.

The whole affair just boggles the mind, doesn't it? Jerry Springer on a world scale.

Seems like the best idea to me.

If a fox was in my hen house, I would want to institute apartheid as well. Except I would not be building a wall and asking it to leave.

I would instead shoot it in the head, then dispose of it with the rest of the garbage.

Just saying.

Ugh! Why can't we all live in peace? Who cares if you're Jewish or Muslim? We're all people. They even worship the SAME God!

I also have a theory that segregation helps foster more ignorance and hatred. It's the 21st century and countries still want to kick out other people or treat them as second class citizens based on their religion...

That is so ignorant. Why shoot someone based on their religion?

Shoot them on their actions, not religion.

I don't shoot the fox because it has a bushy tail,I shoot because of it eating my chickens, don't you understand?

Okay, but that's not what the article is about. The article is about Israeli Jews discriminating against Israeli Arabs for simply being Arab.

If these POLL results are legitimate and reflect the views of most Israelis than I find myself understanding them. Why? Because Israel has been struck by thousands of rockets launched from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Additionally, there have been many suicide bombing events.

Go here:
en.wikipedia.org - Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel...

Palestinian rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip have occurred since 2001. Between 2001 and January 2009, over 8,600 rockets had been launched, leading to 28 deaths and several hundred injuries,[1][2] as well as widespread psychological trauma and disruption of daily life.
........

And here:
en.wikipedia.org - List of Palestinian suicide attacks...

Between 1989 and 2008 there were 804 deaths linked to the events shown in the above link.

Take into account the threat posed to them by Hamas extremists and other anti-Israel groups and/or governments. If I lived in Israel, I think I'd feel threatened too.

I'd like to see a solid reason why Israel is in the wrong. Israel was established in 1948 and, far as I can see, palestinians were given their own land. So why do the palestinians/arabs feel so wronged? Why did the arab countries in 1948 immediately declare war when Israel was created? And why were palestinians and jews ALREADY in a civil war years before Israel was actually created?

One thing I don't want to see is people using religion in their argument. Whether you're a person that follows the Bible, the Tora or the Qur'an, LEAVE THAT OUT OF IT. I've heard people of the three big monotheistic faiths use these kinds of arguments and they really should not be used at all. No common agreement can be found this way. Faith, in this respect, is too irrational.

Yes, I could see how Palestinian suicide bombers can have an affect on the national opinion towards Arabs. When the terrorists from Al Qaeda sent planes into the twin towers, there was a large amount of discrimination against Arab Americans then.

What I find interesting though from the article is that the amount of discrimination increases with ultra-Orthodox Jews being the highest (70 percent of them support legally barring Israeli Arabs from voting, 82 percent support preferential treatment from the state toward Jews, and 95 percent are in favor of discrimination against Arabs in admission to workplaces). And the classification of Jewish Israelis being the second most anti-Arab. But what I find really interesting is that the secular Israelis are the least discriminatory (68 percent of them would not mind having Arab neighbors in their apartment building, 73 percent would not mind Arab students in their children's class and 50 percent believe Arabs should not be discriminated against in admission to workplaces.) It is apparent than non-religious Israelis are the most tolerant of Arabs in Israel, which makes me think religion has a more powerful sway to discrimination towards Arabs than just acts of terrorism.

It makes me wonder if we were to survey Americans who were anti-Arab after 9/11, and then to compare by religion. I wonder if there would be more anti-Arab sentiments with Christian Americans compared to secular Americans.

Funny you say that because I posted this very same thread on another forum and it received little attention. Earlier today someone on the same forum posted a thread titled "Disturbing polls show Muslim support for murdering Jewish children, terrorism" and that thread is already on page 2 where as my thread had maybe 2 posters take interest in the topic (well really just one the other is asking about South African bands...don't ask).
