Thank you for such an interesting angle to look at the overall situation. Also I appreciate the book you suggested reading, it sounds quite interesting. Obviously this guy was ahead of his time, it makes sense why he never gained popularity or mass exposure. Maybe he has though I had never heard his name until now,

It makes total sense Facebook would have a HUGE "amputee" effect.

Somehow you must be able to watch the program and not be "programmed" because as a kid I ingested a lot of it into my brain lol but I turned out to be a loving and humble fellow. I suppose once you become aware of the effect it loses it "power" to control/influence, as it is now brought into your awareness level. Unless my loving nature was caused by Tom and Jerry re runs
lol

Thanks again for stopping by and offering some very interesting information, much appreciated!

I came to age in the 70's so my Psychedelic visions were drug induced. The cartoon's of youth were the merry melodies and Popeye and superman and mighty mouse. Better living through chemicals.

www.youtube.com...

This is new...but I love it. I'm not ashamed to admit that I have listened to this many times because the composition is actually good, and I like the message. I couldn't find a "video number" to link this the way most videos are linked on ATS. Anyway, check it out...I think the concept of the song applies to the topic of the thread.

A really great idea for a first thread!

The late 60's and the entire 70's were awash in TV programs and commercials that were absolutely spaced-out.

The relative scarcity of televised media back then ( you know, a single TV in the household, the Zenith, and maybe only a few channels ) perhaps added to the power of those innocent, magic moments we all experienced. Also, consider, reruns and syndication weren't at all back then what they are now, furthermore, there was no home recording of TV shows, ever. So, there was always a chance that what we saw and heard...we would never see again. Hence, the lifelong hauntings. Or, at least up to the age of Youtube.

And now, all these years later, when we hear 'that theme song' or see a moment from 'that show' - if the conditions are just right - the memory and the feeling, returned, are so powerful we, if only for a few fleeting moments, time travel.

Because of nervousness posting for the first time I believe my initial effort failed to present what my original "intent" or conspiracy was.

For those just coming in the author of the source CLICK HERE article, approaches "reality" through a computer simulation of sorts. I am sure the majority of ATS has at least heard of these theories coming out of theoretical science today.

What I enjoy about this guys work is he approaches the subject through a sort of "spiritual" filter that provides a fresh perspective to view these things. Here are a few snips from the main article.

For whatever reason, many of these same TV moments have affected others who grew up around the same time as I did. They too were haunted or moved by a particular scene that has stuck with them. While each of our lists are unique, I find that certain show memories are shared among those whose lives run along similar paths—with the show being a common link.

I can only imagine what a film about helpless humans treated like pests or pets by a race of intelligent giant aliens, does to a developing mind. Perhaps this movie stimulated some kind of empathetic pathway in our psyches, teaching us to be more understanding of those who are different than us—physically or philosophically.

If we all do live in a computer simulation—or something similar—as I’ve come to believe, what better way to manipulate populations and individuals than with the combination of movies and shows that they bombard our brains with? Our unique combination of media experiences could easily be used to influence our thoughts and actions. The stories alone could have an effect. In addition, these movies could have codes that connect with our brains, which can begin or complete a download we are meant to receive at a certain time.

Just as our digital world is coded, our reality can be broken down to mathematics as well. So it’s likely very possible for us to receive uploads and downloads and upgrades from various sources directly to our minds. And it just makes sense to me that things we scan with our eyes or experience with our senses would be among them. In fact, much like a video game, you may not meet a certain character, get a certain task, or receive a certain clue until you’ve seen, heard, or done something that is coded to unlock this programming. Perhaps that’s why our life at times seems to go in circles—same jobs, same kind of dates, some old issues—because we haven’t done the task required to send in the new program. For the record, I did not originate the belief of brain or visual scan uploads. It’s been the stuff of sci-fi for decades and a major concept of kabbalah for centuries. According to kabbalah, the combination of Hebrew letters acts like a code, that when scanned with our eyes release certain energies.

In the full article not everything is looked at as being manipulative in a "bad" way. A lot of his work has really helped helped me see a new angle to view something in a more "positive" light. Granted this stuff sounds WAY out there but science surprises me everyday.

I agree for sure. You get a feeling in your "being" I guess is the best way to describe it. Thanks for stopping in!

Well being an artist, I would have to say its a little bit of both, every artist has in inside joke of their art, or what the true meaning is, and most come up with something else so they don't have to get into some sordid past as to why they made what they made(some do the opposite to make money off sordid past but w/e I digress heh), in TV , I would assume its the same, you have a bunch of young up and comings that want to have an inside joke so when they watch they can say "look I drew hidden boobies in her hair or a phallic symbol ect ect.

But as far as programming" of course it is" its sure as hell not for entertainment. You may think it is, but there are small suggestive hints throughout all programming. Hell you don't even have to hide anything, just the type of programming. Take for instance the new "gay revolution" ten-15 years ago you didn't hear crap about gay anything on TV unless it was some kind of daytime soap where they had a "gay hairdresser " or something. Turn TV on now , hell you'd think the whole f ing country was gay. cartoon, mens shows, womens shows shopping network ect ec tect, why, because they want to steer people into believing its normal.

Television, its meant to program you, keep you inside and off the streets, dumb you down. How many crap sitcoms out there versus how many educational programs? I don't think I need to explain that. Hell even the institutionalizing of sports on TV, its meant to give males an outlet for being men. Take sports off TV, and what do they have to talk about, not much, because most are just tools and not really men at all, and no I don't mean useful tool heh.

i agree that name is crap, but look at the type of programming they have on that now, its sucks compared to 5/10 years ago, its not even sci-fi, thats why they had to change the name, sadly i dont even watch that channel any more, because of it. now im down to cartoon network, adult swim(awesome) learning channe, pbs, cspan(just for laughs), probably should just ditch tv, 800+ a year for 4 channels and i still have to sit trough commercials, such frikin crap.

Planet of the Apes *same originals only

Monster Movies: (King-Kong, Godzilla, Mecha- Godzilla, Son of godzilla (hehe he could only blow smoke rings unless Gozilla stomped on his tail) Rhodan. Mothra, Gammera, Jet Jaguar (the best of all).

Could go on with double the cartoons if I sat for 15 more minutes and thought about it.

Anyways, late 70's to mid to late 80's was the best time for cartoons. and toys. Wish I still had all my GI Joe and Star Wars Figues, and Transformers.

Now I only watch some Anime, and Family Guy and American Dad. That's about it. Sometimes some Bugs Bunny if I catch it while flipping through the channels, it's still classic.

No conspiracy I think. It's just common knowledge that children are drawn to things with bright colors. This is why cartoons and toys are all bright and pastel. This is why McDonalds has a giant red and yellow sign. It's just visual chocolate to kids. If it is loud and colorful, kids will watch it.

I did a poor job explaining my intent behind the post (I was a nervous newb when posting it). It kinda turned into a "post" old TV shows without much discussion about the actual source article. I tried to bring it back in line towards the end, with more quotes from the source article. O wells lol it was my fault for not articulating my point thoroughly

In addition, there is something McLuhan named 'amputations' which he believes .. Every extension of mankind, especially technological extensions, have the effect of amputating

Interesting. What is an amputation exactly?

Amputation is the removal of an injured or diseased body part. An amputation may be the result of a traumatic injury, or it may be a planned operation to prevent the spread of the disease
SOURCE

I would then ask what happened is our past that was so traumatic we deemed it necessary to begin using technological "extensions", or even a planned operation to prevent the spread of "dis" "ease" through the system?

Hmm.. Now you have me thinking!
