I pretty much passed this thread over until i just saw on the local news that Congress is going on a 7 week "recess," after having recently already taken a recess, while we still have so many problems and issues that need to be SOLVED, and while we, as tax payers, foot the bill.

This is disgusting. Lets out all of them.

And if just ONE would say screw it, and go to "work" alone, to make a statement that things need to be done, i would have some respect...

But i have no respect.

Out with ALL incumbents.

Your biggest grief, that our jobs/economy have been outsourced, is #1 the fault of business owners, not government, despite the current disgusting toxic mix of the two.

The true powers you wish to unseat worship the dollar and only the dollar. It makes sense then that the dollar should be your weapon of choice. VOTE with your dollars. We have to stop supporting companies that are pillaging us. We need to go boycott crazy through some central information-providing/organizing entity (was hoping OWS would step up here) and cut off the lifeblood (income) of each and every offending (those who collude with/taint/control government, those who are destroying and poisoning our environment, those who put unbridled greed before people, etc.).

I say we all just vote out every persn holding an office or seat right now, only vote in people who haven't held any political office at all and start over fresh.

Just my take, to bad nobody will listen though, as they continue to vote back in all the trash, all the while wandering why nothing ever changes.

Sure and maybe we could all get together and put on a show right here in the barn. You can make costumes. We'll build a set. I'll be fun.

It ain't easy switching course. And that's as it should be. However in the course of human event's, as they say, there can be times that demand radical change. I'm not so sure now is the time. We're getting pretty close mind you but I don't think it's right now.

The actions you propose are not doable. Can we agree to that? An election that returns those results is not going to happen. The ideal you long for, in such an immediate fashion, is possible, but only by more direct and persuasive action. The evolution of this action can be lengthy or explosively short. What ever the time of incubation, it's conception looks a lot like the mid east unrest. Yes unrest, that's what we are talking about. and don't forget to throw in that bit of violence to show we are talking true unrest. From here you either continue to resist as a terrorist type resistance, or you succumb, and become truly under the jackboot.

Change by election is for the long haul. Can we sit back and agree to be sensible and encourage an aware electorate to work it's magic over several election cycles?

I'm with you our government is completely out of our control. An the only way to change this is one individual at a time. The congress will be easy to change. The one individual will be difficult.

Here we go again! It is common knowledge that third party and independents want a constitutional government re-established. But everyone is so afraid to vote outside the two party system. Lobbyist and corpaorate interests need to be removed from government. The wage payed to the house and senate need to be based on a national average, they need to provide their own health insurance, Terms need to be limited to two years. Career politicians need to go- we don't need them.
You know, we laughed at the occupy movement.Ttheir heart was int he right place-it is ashame that they could not square off with a leader and an agenda. but the model they made needs to be taken up by the American People- it is time to rise in numbers, and take back what is rightfully ours, and re-establish what our forefathers, and grandfathers fought so bravely for- a democracy, for the people, and by the people; not for corporate thieves and crooked politicians

May tomorrow be a better day

And then what?

Watch, as all the hopefuls are corrupted just like every other year.

Seriously, stop the insanity of doing this over and over again.

THIS SYSTEM, has been tried in numerous ways for thousands of years, and in many different formats.

And enough with "but America is special". (snark) special for sure.

Insanity.

The great cycle is turning and clicking, and something new is coming.

This age is going to go like a whisper, because there is no faith in the paradigm any longer, it has served it purpose, and is soon to be gone. Just like the next paradigm will one day outlive its usefulness and give way to a new.

A new epoch.

A new era.

A new age.

This has been going on long before the imagination can ponder.

The last 4 thousand years are but a cycle within a larger cycle within another larger still cycle, etc, etc, etc.

This one is different in that it completes not only the 28 thousand year cycles, but some of the longer, more complex ones as well according to the Hindus.

What will happen no one knows, but something will for sure, that is the only constant in the Universe is change.

Sometimes very profound and massive change takes place.

But always change.

Constantly.

So much so that nothing changes, and all stays the same, which is the change itself.

In closing.

Be grateful, because though you depend on that which you hate so much, one day all are going to realize that it was only an illusion to trap you to begin with, and that all you need is Mother Earth, each other, and a warm cup of tea.

Congress learned that they aren't running things. The U.N. people are in control. Once people realize this, a lot of other things going on will make sense.

This rebuttal is very common. The truth is the system fails with only one addition, civil disobedience. Therefore, it is not a matter of what one can do but what many must do.

This calls upon someone to organize a rebellion. There is a list set of components a rebellion must have in order to be successful.
How to start a rebellion.

I'd love to vote against my incumbent representative but he and his party have run unopposed in my district for all of my adult life. I keep writing to opposing parties to put SOMEONE up for election against the incumbent. I've even volunteered to be that someone if they would back me and help me get the signatures to appear on the ballot. Anyone running opposed to the incumbent would probably loose in my district anyway, but at least there would be SOME sort of choice, even a bad one.

I don't expect the opposing parties to spend any money to support their candidate in my district, but at least get a name on the ballot!! Geeze!

That is what Warren Buffet suggested too,

Your votes mean nothing. will you people please stop acting as if it does?? the only thing that means something is money. THose who have the money have the power and they tell our government servants NOT OFFICIALS what to do.

You could start by voting in a party that isn't a democrat or republican and going out and convincing hundreds if not thousands to join the effort.

the system is bigger than congress and that's not the problem. it's out of our hands and will take a power much stronger than us to make it right

Sounds great, although there is no Constitutional provision for such a thing. At one time, US Senators were elected by the state legislatures, and could be recalled for any reason, but Woodrow Wilson and the 17th Amendment put an end to that. The best way to recall Congress is to vote them out, but time and time again the same idiots get re-elected.

"We"?. What about yourself? What have you done for your country lately, that is, besides tapping a few platitudes on a keyboard?

Well Mister, I have served plenty and could not agree more with the OP q13ert.

There are a lot idiots here. For one, the one place that we can still have an impact is on who we vote for Congress and the list of more local elected offices.

we can do a total recall just like they did in cally.. real peaceful.. all we need to do is stand together and do it

Good luck with that. I have been out there in the real world trying to rally support for a new congress. It varies in people's beliefs of what is wrong with our government. A significant majority voice the opinion that it is entirely the president and if only they get the right man for the job. Unfortunately, pointing out that it is the hundreds of seats in congress, where the problem originates, often falls on deaf ears.

I blame the media. Most news channels over report on the president while under reporting what members of congress are doing but most important... failing to report on what congress is not doing. The media minimizes the power that voters have to change government and many people hold on to the belief that they cannot do anything or at best people believe they are not affected enough to want to make the important changes.

A recall will only go so far without knowing who is going to take those empty seats. It always comes back to people with money or who can get their hands on money are the only ones that can afford to run for office. I know many concerned citizens who attempted to run for office only to pull out early in the game due to financial hardship. Most often we end up with a choice of the lesser evil being voted in yet again for a continuation of the corrupt government we have come to know and have done little to change.

All it would take is one small burp from the public to put a disastrous ripple in the corrupt foundation of government. Take for instance, if every concerned citizen decided that this year would be the year to not file a tax return, the political power bubble would burst and be exposed. The government would be powerless to go after the millions of citizens that boycotted a simple deadline. That is an extreme scenario when all it would take is on election day when given the choice of evil A or evil B, each voter can opt for write in choice C. However, when you tell someone that they have that power, be prepared to be met with disbelief.
