We can in November, every seat in Congress is up for re-election.
It's too bad no one is talking about that.

I gave you a S & F for your enthusiasm.

I'd work a bit more on the delivery and content but good showing right out of the gate.

I'm all for "We the people" I agree Washington has been overran and infested with corporate sponsored maggots who really do nothing for the people but rather look out for their handlers best interests. .

I'm a "People"

"We"?. What about yourself? What have you done for your country lately, that is, besides tapping a few platitudes on a keyboard?

I say we all just vote out every persn holding an office or seat right now, only vote in people who haven't held any political office at all and start over fresh.

Just my take, to bad nobody will listen though, as they continue to vote back in all the trash, all the while wandering why nothing ever changes.

I'm uncomfortable after reading the "close scrutiny" disclaimer at the top of this thread.

That's not written on any others that I've noticed.

The answer is clear: We Are the 99%.

I totally agree OP! If it is broken, fix it... right? RIGHT!

We need to be talking about this instead of the Presidents seat as we know by now it all depends on Congress.

What is their plan? How can WE the PEOPLE disrupt this plan of destruction?

We have got to vote in people who are not bought and paid for. How do we know who is for the People these days?

I wish we could vote in people who are not corrupted yet by the dollar.

It is there as a warning to mind your manners, and remain calm while talking about a sensitive subject. As many have not done either in this particular forum in the past. Nothing more.

The more contested forums have that notation, The other is the 911 forum. No biggy, it just means that there is more attention given towards possible T & C infractions not on topic contributions.

Ideally...We should get progress reports and be able to rate what reps have done for us.
We should issue them quarterly report cards.
Any low scores or failing grades should vacate their office.

You know, just like those minimum requirements teachers have for their students?
These guys should be tested certainly more than our students since they are working for us and in a position to affect us every day.

And we have a right to require pertinent information provided simply and clearly - I want it in my email. I don't want to "go to his web-sight" to see what he's been up to. I want reports and updates and a handy reference daily or at least weekly.

And instead of Washington springing things on me..."oh we changed the laws and are doing it like this now" I want to be consulted ahead of time, I want them to get my permission, every time they scratch their arses. I want my opinion counted and weighed in on everything BEFORE they do it. Wouldn't THAT be a refreshing change of pace?

I also think populated areas, cities, towns etc., can come up with, by a "collective majority," a list of projects and priorities they have or want to see completed in their area. Ask residents...

A. What needs to be done?
B. How important is it to you?

And not vague things like 'change people'...concrete projects like fix the old bridge, build a bigger library, design us a park for health and exercise, or we need a crosstown parkway.
Finally prioritize these projects, find LOCAL (as possible) people to do it (don't leave it up to a small group of planners since they are all corrupted). Get each bidders offer and information, research the company, then we the people decide which LOCAL company is best and cheapest. That company should get the contract for the services we need by majority vote. In every case WE should decide what goods services and stores are best for or built in our town, by MAJORITY VOTE. Not in secret backroom dealings, bribery, nepotism or cronyism and handshakes. We should take it upon ourselves to eliminate the lobbyist, the special interest, the middlemen, and get 'er done.

We waste lives, life and generations - arguing and fighting, watching the changing of the guards and demanding the same old "reasonable requests" from year to year, getting nothing in return but manipulated, because the system is rigged against us.

It really doesn't matter who you vote into congress and senate by their campaign promises....as soon as the lobbyist get their millions flying around it hits congress and the senate and goes right into their bank accounts, the government is then corrupted. Congressmen make $168,000 a year but they are worth a few million on top of that by the lobbyists. Also, Wall Street has a big influence in putting money in our government officials pocketbooks.

GET THE LOBBYISTS AND STOCK MARKET SPECULATORS OUT OF WASHINGTON AND THEN I'LL VOTE!!

Not quite true. The 112th Congress (Senate) is divided into three classes. Each class serves for two years before re-election. The current Congress up for re-election is Class 1. Class 2 will face re-election in two years and Class 3 will face re-election in four years. Thus only 1/3 of the Senate is up for re-election.

The House of Representatives are all up for re-election every two years (on even numbered years). There are 40 members retiring this term.

Just remember, and this is what is happening now, unless one party dominates both Chambers, House and Senate, then it is difficult, if not impossible, to make new laws or pass budgets. So while the House can be swept, it will take at least six years to sweep the Senate.

I agree. Fire 'em all. They're all either corrupt or ineffective. Or both. And throw in a good dose of plain ol' stupid, to boot.

[Lewis Black wiggly rage fingers] While we're at it, let's get rid of all those Wolfowitz's and Rove's and the rest of those unelected scumbags who work to set policy through every administration, no matter who gets elected. They just keep bouncing from position to position, constantly furthering their agendas. Rep. or Dem., left or right, that same core of chuds is always there!! [/Lewis Black wiggly rage fingers]
