WASHINGTON, Sept. 20, 2012 – Sequestration will devastate every aspect of Defense Department spending, from fighting the war in Afghanistan and supporting troop health and morale to training, maintenance and modernization, and carrying out the defense strategic guidance, Pentagon Comptroller Robert F. Hale said Thursday.

Sequestration refers to a mechanism in the Budget Control Act that would trigger an additional $500 billion across-the-board defense spending cut over the next decade, in addition to $487 billion in cuts already programmed, unless Congress identifies equivalent savings by January.

Testifying before the House Armed Services Committee, Hale said the only way to avoid bad consequences is for Congress to enact a balanced deficit-reduction plan that the president can sign, a move that would halt sequestration.

I am no war monger absolute opposite, but who does this while we still have guys overseas, and Afghanistan?
Why is that Obama's war of choice?

Think Russia,

Oh don't worry, he's got his forces and resources right where he wants them....right here on US soil. All those funds have already been reapplied with DHS. His ass is covered.

If it walks like an obama supporter and talks like an obama supporter....then it probably feels just fine about the most corrupt, dishonest and inexperienced president ever.

I do not have to live in oppression. My constitution says so.

I understand you are passionate about this, I do. I am passionate about it myself.

I haven't lived through dozens of elections, but I have lived through a few. Every election people start getting crazy emotional and start throwing out threats about moving to Canada. You went a different route and plan to secede from the country. Props for changing up the same ol' same ol'. Curious which state you are from.

Why does America feel like they have to be everywhere sticking their noses into everybodys business? I recently got back from a 14 week business trip in China and was pleasantly surprised. Never got stopped by the police, was able to travel with ease, didn't have bureacrats hassling me, ate great food, met beautiful women, and received some of the best hospitality anywhere. Great experience. Can't wait to go back. Some of you should go explore and expand your minds. Might have a holiday in Iran, if you don't blow the fricking place up!

I love posts like this. I'm not a fan of Obama but if you think hes MORE corrupt the all the other presidents . . . .

A much more correct headline is "OMG - Obama has turned out to be as corrupt a President as the others we've elected"

Self loathing; not from my perspective. In fact I see Nationalism and chest thumping everywhere.

Obama is just the figure head for the real power in government. The neocons and PNAC didn't lose power just because a democrat was elected president. Obama is following their orders.

Open your eyes and look a little deeper into the problems in America. All this finger pointing is foolish. And nothing will change if the GOP is at the helm. It's out of our hands.

Do some real research and not just listen to the AM radio propaganda hosts.

ATS also isn't the best place for information. It's just like the old mud pit with name calling and posturing.

Time to grow up!

This will probably be the Electoral Map on November 7, 2012.

Romney wins with 301 Electoral Votes.

If Romney takes Pennsylvania then just add 20 more Electoral Votes.

Apparently, the War on Terror is back on and Obama can't spike the football anymore.

Fast forward 4 years if Obama wins in Nov......

- Israel is destroyed by Russia, Syria and Iran after US fails to respond when Iran uses a false flag attack to goad Irsael into a first strike

- There is a new USA coalition (United States of Arabia) in the middle east ruled by Sharia law

- In the real USA drones are routinely spotted carrying out survellance missions over US soil and the first drone strike is carried out against suspected "right wing terrorist" groups - on American soil

- New recess appointments of Liberal Federal judges are carried out against the wishes of a largely Republican Congress who is powerless to stop them. The new appointments are largely responsible for promoting and upholding challenges in key states to gun and immigration laws.

- Executive orders are passed by the President to ensure federally funded abortion clinics are available in all major cities

- A fairness doctrine is passed by executive order that effectively silences Fox News and most conservative radio

- Mosque construction in the USA quadruples in 2013 and again in 2014

- An executive order is issued that effectively bans videos or cartoons that depict the prophet Mohammed in a negative light

- Some US cities with large Muslim populations begin enforcing official ordinances for burkas being worn by women

- Foreign US military bases and embassies suffer ever escalating casualties as several are attacked as various groups become emboldened while the US official policy is tolerance and non intervention.

- Gas is rationed and prices rise above $7 a gallon as the Obama administration claims that they are expanding domestic production all while they are making permits impossible to obtain and drillers look elsewhere in the world.

- The Obama administration blames high gas prices, poor economic growth, high unemployment and the destruction of Israel on a "do nothing, obstructionist Republican Congress".

This is what you have to look forward to if you bring him back.

I liked him too. Unfortunately, our politics are oppressive to third-party candidates. For instance, in the state I live in you are not allowed to even write-in an alternative candidate and no third-party candidate will be on the ballot. So....there's that issue as well.

The political system here (Australia) is far from perfect, but we seem to have the politicians on a tighter leash. American polotics seems fake to me.

The one with all the valves to all the natural gas and oil pipelines that feed the eastern part of the U.S. The one with the NAFTA corridor that can be closed. That one. It doesn't matter which, I'm in the fly-over states...the ones that are fed up.

I can honestly say I've never been scared of an election result before. I do agree with you that every year there are some who do get "worked up". And I do agree that there are those who are so staunch in their political leanings that "the other side" winning makes them talk of leaving. I've never wanted to leave my country before. I've never wanted my state to secede before. I've never felt this oppressed and misused before either...though I began feeling that way under Bush and then it escalated exponentially under Obama. Now...I want to do one or the other if it continues as is. As I stated, I feel oppressed and in a state of indentured servitude.

We are one of a couple of countries that has compulsory voting. Not sure if it is right, but it seems to keep voters more informed. Also makes the politicians work harder to be elected.

I will still write in Ron Paul, or cast a vote for Johnson!

I would never vote Romney! I mean, why not just elect Netanyahu and commit yourself to more aggressive war! Obama has trampled more civil liberties and is anti American in my book.

Romney is Satan himself who openly seeks WWIII! The Muslims are up in arms over a film, and you think it will be ok to step foot in Iran? What about Russia's warnings? I have seen enough war mongering to last me a lifetime, and also enough fraud from these plastic men! My children are at the age that they will be first in line, and I can not stomach the thought of the brutal struggle these men seek!

Public office should be a reward of merit, not a contest of funds! I reject the two parties, and do not think they are legitimate, but rather pure fraud!

I don't agree with mandatory voting. While I don't accept "not voting" as a choice for myself (I've voted in every election since I was 18 and the last two were struggles to do so....I really wanted to just "opt out" and not vote at all), I do also recognize that a person who has a conviction they cannot show their support to EITHER candidate IS casting a vote on general principles when they don't vote at all.

OMG - Obama has got to be the most corrupt President we've ever elected.

I "vote" for Nixon.

After all what he did, he became the guy that made me finally doubt the real truth about the Apollo missions.

He crushed my world, opened my eyes for corruption that exists in the world....Maybe I should thank him for that.....SOB.

So just answer the question. When things are worse in another 4 years, who are you going to blame? Are we still going to blame Bush? Are we still going to say Obama inherited this mess? I really want to know. Because if you remember his campaign was hell bent on fixing this problem "now" and hope and change would be in the "near future". Then after elected it was "we still have a long ways to go, but we will get there". What does that mean? Now he's saying i need 4 more years. Well what happened to all the hope and change that was suppose to take place in the first 4? Oh that's right he has spent the last year campaigning so he really only had 3. Makes sense now...
