The people in the free world look at us, with all that we have as irragent. Confidence, determination, and not wavering in your beliefs are percieved by many as concete. For others, we honor it. The US is the strongest and loudest voice. With the biggest wallet. Bush is a good man.

1) World loves the American people (trust me), and has a lot of respect for America

2) The world sees Bush for what this individual is, hence the resentment towards this corrupt and lying adminitration

i do not subscribe to the US media, nor to the world media, for it is skewed to the left for the most part. sure there are a few right wing US media outlets, but primarily, the reporting news is liberal. Bush is a conservative, with conservative values, the things the liberal, and liberal media despise. it makes sense these leftists would profit by painting a picture for the masses that Bush is hated throughout the world. how else is the left to regain power in the US if Bush is not portrayed a villain?

The old world is surely full of hate, isn't it? Hate, hate, hate.
Well if 50% hate Bush, then that must mean around 50%
hate Kerry. So what's the point? Just more collective hate.

One poster stated that 80% of foreign countries want Kerry
as the next president. Well, according to certains polls, such as
Roper, around 80% of the world believes in UFO's and the
possibility of life on other planets. I don't see the governments
rushing to the TV stations to announce the truth to us all, just
because the vast majority of us believe in this.

Another poster asked why anyone would vote for a President the
world hates. Well again, 50% of that hate is aimed at Kerry, and who
the beans would vote for this screwball?

Another poster stated something to the effect that most people in
the world don't actually hate us, they hate the government. Well,
that hate spills over to the average American. Like government,
like people. Monkey see, Monkey do. Foreigners seem to think that
the average American has the same mindset that the government does.
I am here to tell you, nothing is further from the truth.

I wish we could gain back the trust and friendship of the Germans, French
and Russians. I wish we could travel abroad without having the stigma
of, "Hey, there's one of those Americans." Bloodthirsty, war mongering
people they are".

It all boils down to this hate, hate, hate that everyone is talking about.
Like Rodney said, "Can't we all just get along"? Not with all this hate.

I still don't understand why "Liberal" is such a bad word in the US. Is having compasion for the common man such a bad thing. I personally like the American people, I've been just about everywhere in the US and have had nothing but good times. However, your present admin is the most corrupt in recent memory and what they are doing to you is a crime. Bill Clinton got impeached for getting a BJ in the oval office. Bush has purposely mislead the people, congress and the world and he's up for re-election. YOur brand of democracy sucks and should not be used as an example to the rest of the world. COrruption is rampant through all levels of your government.

Make it stop. Vote wisely.

No we don't! And no we aren't! Bush is finished. You just watch and see. I hope I'm there to kick you in the head when you're on the floor sobbing because your neocon bastard lost.

smokenmirrors,
I just had an idea. Since we have alot of non-Americans at ATS, lets start a thread to see how many like Bush. I'll go ahead and post it.

Liberal in the US is another name for socialism in this country. That is why the biggest liberal in our senate (Kerry) hates being called it. Liberal also means larger government, more laws to controle the people. This government was formed on the primess. A government for the people by the people.

I hate to say this but isn't that what Bush is doing. I know he's a Republican but since 9-11 we are creating a larger government and more laws to control people. I'll give you some examples:

1. The Department of Homeland Security
2. T.I.A
3. The Patriot Act
4. National I.D. card

And I believe Kerry wants the same thing.

Yes, but more importantly, this government was formed on the Libertarian premise: The less government the better. They didn't trust the gov., and rightfully so. They wanted to keep the gov. out of their lives as much as possible. Now, the gov. has convinced the public that this was never the case. They've perverted the Bill of Rights and the Constitution beyond recognition. If any amendment restricted their abuse of power, they either amended it, or redefined it. There are very few standing amendments that still mean diddly. Those are soon to be perverted too, if they haven't been already.

Here you go, smokenmirrors. Keep track of this one....

Well, clearly if you are not aware enough to know that F9/11 is COMPLETE fiction, and is admitted so by Moore, you should not be commenting on political matters.

That may sound harsh, but if you are justifying your view of the US government by that fauxmentory you need to SERIOUSLY take a loooooooong hard look at your reasoning.

Being from and living the UK i can tell you what the perception of America is from here.

People in the UK like the American culture for the most part.

People in the UK generally don't hate Americans, although there is a common joke that Americans are stupid, especially your military.

Sometimes we take your pride in your country as being a little arrogant on your part, for instance if Bush says that the 'US is the greatest country in the world' we might be annoyed, don't know if its jealousy or the fact pride in our country is no longer PC.

Most people hate Bush, especially after Iraq and he is often made fun of in polictical comedy shows.

Have you ever been out of the USA snagltooth? Im seriously interested to know. What do you think you have that other countries don't? Every time I hear this from Americans it is largely by people who have never left the USA.

Is the most important thing in life for you, the accumulation of consumer goods? He who has the most toys, wins? No, people think Americans are arrogant because, like the Chinese, they are very stubborn and rather than concede to being wrong at times would rather save face, even in front of overwhelming evidence. Which prompts others to just throw up their hands, "yeah yeah, you da man, whatever". That's what I see of the ugly side of American's. Fortunately it is a minority, and the rest of my American friends are rational, level-headed, educated and well travelled people.

I'm quite happy living in a country rated in the top 5 highest standards of living in the world. Some of us don't really give a sh*t about not being a world 'super power'.

First off, 72.4% of surveys are made up on the spot.

Seriously though, dont trust polls, they dont mean much. Also, who cares that people outside of the US dont like Bush? They arent the ones that voted for him. They should hate the voters.

the same "world" you and others claim have such hatred for the US, they are clamouring to enter our borders, to live here, to taste freedom.

they see the US as free, and know it is so, yet do not understand the way to go about achieving such freedom in their own country, so the easy thing to do, is emigrate to the Great United States of America.

Mexicans, Guatemalans, Peruvians, Cubans, Germans, Indians, Pakastani's, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian alike, they are here in the homeland of the free, why have they come?????? Because they hate us????

you figure it out, my friend.

edited to add, the untold countless nationalities that have come, and continue to come, Bosnian, Egyptian, French, Italian, Korean, Chinese, ad. infinitum.......

[edit on 15-10-2004 by smokenmirrors]

Actually not so. Arrogance is a big reason for the hatred as you so rightly proved with your post. The whole of Europe has more freedom than the US because we dont have a "patriot" act.

Another reason is ignorance. Most Americans care about noone apart from themselves.

And then theres Bush which needs no explanation.

Here is what I believe. The world doesn't hate the American public. It only hate the American government for what it has become and the handling of the war. It's no wonder the world hates the Bush Administration. So for those who don't understand why the world hates us or the current Administration, this article might clear up a few things for you.

In that then they will soon hate all about this country people are not ignorant to the fact that despite somethings do escape the general public
sight and control we do have a greater control on who makes up our goverment and its policies where as in the communist or dictatorship goverment this free control through voting is not allowed and those people have truely have no choice but to be dragged along like some baggage but here in the USA we cant claim the same innocent stance because we help by excercising our rights.

what do you think is going to be said after November if Bush is still in office because those people you say are not hated just the administration is.

Common you cant be neive enough to believe we dont have some blood on our hands at that point do you. Blood of both our own children as well as those of the places we have conquered. and thats what this is CONQUERING not defending.
