The federal government does not yet recognize gay marriage, because doing so would (almost) force all states to recognize it.

Ahhh... here we go.

Annee, is this what you want? If the Feds recognize it, then are all good?

They are criticizing people for being hateful towards gay people. That is why there is no hypocrisy. Voting with your money is fine, and those of you who are against homosexuality are free to never buy another oreo or whatever it was again- and we're allowed to call you closed minded bigots for it.

We're allowed to never eat at Chick-Fil-A again, and you're allowed to call us... whatever derogatory thing you want to call us for it. Neither of us are going to change. Both are valid. There is no hypocrisy, nor irony here.

You're being an absolute jackass and you need to stop. I wouldn't normally say anything but not only are you being flippant, rude and ridiculous, but now thanks to this post you're off topic. Could you at least make your trolling somewhat interesting instead of being childish?

You're right, I'm sorry, just losing my temper with some here. Apology?

i think its like this.

1% of the Country HATES gays
1% of the Country IS gay

98% of the Country couldnt give a rats ass what you do in your house.

The 2% in the extreme sides of the spectrum also require each other to exist to convince the money(vote)(power), of the 98%--both of the minorities (2%) have to work REALLY hard to convince the rest of the 98% to be on their side.

or im oversimplifing.

Not that it matters but, there is a newish chic-fil a on my path that I was thinking of trying. I won't bother now that I am aware, (neither will my wife). We choose to not fuel the hate machine. There has to be 20 other places to eat along the way so I don't think we will be the ones missing out in the end.

Too bad, you're missing out on some seriously good chicken sandwiches. And even though their President donates to causes you don't support, if you followed that logic, you'd probably have to stop consuming most products in your house now.

But meh, whatevs.

I think that's enough reason to skip their chicken sandwiches.

sometimes people get irony and hypocracy swapped

hy·poc·ri·sy
   [hi-pok-ruh-see]
noun, plural hy·poc·ri·sies.
1.
a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
2.
a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.

Dictionary.com

Well, the LGBT community seemed to condemn (in my opinion) the people that criticized Oreo and threatened a boycott for not being tolerant and open-minded (thus insinuating that they were these traits). Yet when the shoe was on the other foot, they turned around and demonstrated that they had none of those traits either when something they disagreed with presented itself.

Thus - Hypocrisy.

Here's a cartoon that sums it up very well.

www.daybydaycartoon.com...

But others will see it otherwise. That's their call.

lol im sure Chick-fil-a considers this minority "acceptable losses" in corporate boycott terms.

but think of all the busywork that can be created and funded thru NGOs and such to get the 98% of the rest of the country to jump on the group think boycott bandwagon.

The hypocracy lies herein:
By calling one group "closed minded bigots" - as you put it - you are then inherently inferring that you are NOT close minded bigots. These are now assumed traits by default of the statement.

But then they have demonstrated with their actions that they also fail to hold these traits they've inferred upon themselves via the earlier proclamation of "close minded bigots".

Sort of "Pot calling Kettle Black" thing going here.

I think you're 98% correct, 2% incorrect, and with a +/- 3% margin of error.

That's fine, but again, I am going to say that you're going on a selective path here. I'd be willing to bet if you vetted the employees (ceo, presidents, executive management) of the companies you currently consume from, you'd find all kinds of undesireable things that you disagree with and - in fact - would be angry over.

You don't find it a bit suspect that the only fast food chain that's a national brand yet operates under very clear and stated "faith" based guidelines is the big bad devil here?

I love it when right wingers throw the term hypocrisy around.

Makes me just LOL. They are so brain washed they have no concept of what they are even saying.

YAWN

why are you even talking about this crap on ATS? this isnt a conspiracy. This is your own beliefs. It just shocks me when people post such anti gay stuff and yet they see it differently than posting about black people or another minority.. Yet... We, the gays, are the hypocrites. LMAO!

also, 5% of the population is gay, not 1%. Not a huge difference, but worth mentioning.

WTF? Where did I post anything anti-gay? And why am I right winger? And this board is called "Political Issues"???

I'm confused, did you actually read my post? Or just see a title and jump on really quick to post a response on the last page?

Their "acceptable losses" have turned into record profits.
Wish I could run a business like that.

Hell, I would be taking up every cause, while at the same time having those within my own company running counter to them.

And we would all be running to the bank...Laughing our asses off.

But the truth of the matter is this. The LGBTQ community is offended that the majority of the population does not agree with their lifestyle. It's as simple as that. They're trying to take a page out of MLK's platbook and make it their own. I don't think it's gonna work. Why get in peoples faces when you can work behind the scenes?

Keep your sexual lives behind closed doors and don't advertise, Hetros and Homos included.

They should wrap their chicken sandwiches with that image of pisspoor propaganda on it, I bet they would sell even more. In fact it makes me hungry just seeing the red and orange mixed with desperation and pathetic attempts at slander.

Here is what the Kiss In - - - is really about.

It is NOT a serious major organized group "ground zero" protest.

It is a light-hearted - - - fun - - show love protest.

Go to a Chick-fil-A - - with your opposite sex partner. Take a picture of yourself kissing your partner at Chick-fil-A. Post it on a website.

Some LGBT went right away when they heard about it - - some went on Friday - - it is on going. Pix are still being taken and posted on websites.

Yaaaayyyy woot!!!
Way to go gays and lesbians,
Boost them chic-fil-a sales

Now the religious nuts can take their children there and point fingers at what not to be.

You are all doing a fine religious service with this example.

And yes, you "the gays" are hypocrites....just as most of us are. It's called being human.

But you are right, it is about beliefs. I'm just wondering why we have to legislate them considering free speech and all?

Chick Fil A's website says that in 2010 they donated over 6,000,000 dollars to a variety of organiations, mostly football and scholarship related. A CNN article stated that in 2010 they donated 1000 to the Family Research Council. LOL! WOW! They really support the "Kill The Gays" program. The FRC is a huge organization, I dont imagine money was given to them in the hopes that it would go to Uganda for the purpose of murdering people.
