So equal rights is more about everyone having to swallow that gay people are married, not actually about their legal rights?

So all the hullabalou is just about forcing people to accepting something they dont agree with?

Civil Rights was forced.

Fantastic non-answer as usual, thanks!

You want complicated answers - - go to someone else. More words doesn't add or change anything.

Yes - - Equal Rights has to be forced.

Pretty damn pathetic.

so, its not good enough that some states gays can marry , you want the Federal Govt to handle the enforcement across all 50 States? or what. whats the problem gays are having?

im ignorant

Absolutely! Federal Marriage Equality.

Ever bothered to check why states have marriage rights? It was for the purpose of discrimination. States were given marriage rights to keep undesirables out.

Here we go - the LGBT(QXYZ???) agenda has revealed itself!

You want there to be a Federal Law of marriage that superimposes itself on top of states rights to self-governance because of a perceived injustice that nobody outside of political funding machines care about.

Anneee, careful, you're agenda is showing. This has very little to do with equality or rights to you I think. in fact, I'd bet you're more worried about getting rid of this pesky "union" of states and move towards a more unified "state" right?

Oh Karl would be so proud of your development!

As in the Civil Rights Act - - As in the Disability Act - - As in the Fair Housing Act.

Federal - - - entire country equality.

If you don't like my simple answers - - not my problem. More words don't change anything.

No agenda, my ass.

We sussed it out on this thread. The more gays spout Sophist rhetoricthe worse they make thier "group" look.

Do you know why states have marriage rights? I do.

Why do I know states have marriage rights? Because I researched it.

Do I need to spell it out and provide links every single time State Marriage Rights comes up?

NO

I really do not understand all this equal rights stuff being spewed.

To get married in indiana

Obtaining a Marriage License in Indiana

Exclusions:

The Clerk cannot issue a marriage license if:

Either applicant is under the influence of drugs or alcohol when applying;

Applicants are both the same gender;

Applicants are more closely related than second cousins (though there is an exception if you are first cousins and both at least sixty-five (65) years of age).

Either applicant has been judged to be of unsound mind, unless the adjudication has been removed.

I qualify

Getting food stamps in indiana,

Indiana
Do I Qualify for SNAP?(food stamps)
To qualify, applicants must meet both non-financial and financial requirements. Non-financial requirements include state residency, citizenship/alien status, work registration and cooperation with the IMPACT Program. Financial criteria include income and asset limits.

The asset/resource limits are $2,000 per household except for households containing a member who is disabled or age 60 or older; then the limit is $3,250. Assets include bank accounts, cash, real estate, personal property, vehicles, etc. The household's home and surrounding lot, household good and personal belongings and life insurance policies are not counted as assets in the Food Stamp Program.

I don't qualify i get over it. I pay taxes into this and I still cannot get into this program. I am discriminated against for making to much money.

Social Security is more than retirement.

Many people think of Social Security as just a retirement program. Although it is true that most of the people receiving Social Security receive retirement benefits, many others get Social Security because they are:

Disabled, or
A spouse or child of someone who gets Social Security; or
A spouse or child of a worker who died; or
A dependent parent of a worker who died.
Each type of benefit has different requirements and depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible. We want you to understand what Social Security can mean to you and your family's financial future. Our publication Understanding The Benefits explains the basics of the Social Security retirement, disability and survivors insurance programs.

I don't qualify and I get over it. I am discriminated against for being young and not having a misfortune happen to me.

In these instances I am discriminated against for things I have no control over and even things I can have an influence on (my income.) I get over it, why can't homosexuals get over it??

there is no difference in these things and criteria for marriage. Come up with something similar to marriage but it cannot be marriage. If they do manage to get marriage for homsexuals then I want food stamps and social security now even if i do not qualify. Change those rules so i qualify .

this is retarded

60 Minutes did an expose on charitable giving in America a few years ago.

They expected to find that affluent liberals were the most generous, with blue collar conservatives giving the least.

The opposite was true.

Blue collars working class conservatives gave more of their income and time, a lot more.

So damn tired of that false arguement.

It isn't the religious institution they are fighting for, churches NEVER have to marry gay people, but the right to be married as a government institution.

That's right; churches do not have to marry anyone they choose not to. But, let us consider something:

A black man and white woman come to a church to get married. Let us say this is a church which does not agree with interracial marriage. They can refuse to perform the ceremony... but... since he is a minority, the man would then be able to file a suit against the church for violation of civil rights. That minority status would, right or wrong, give him enough standing to force the church to defend itself. Win or lose, that costs a lot of money and even more time and worry.

The same situation could happen with gay marriage if it is deemed a civil right. And with the talk against churches I hear on a regular basis, I would expect there to suddenly be a slew of "revenge weddings"... as in, "That church won't change their beliefs, so we'll force them to either change their beliefs, look like hypocrites, or pay a lot of lawyers fees!"

That is revenge, backed up by the fact that the very word "marriage" is a demand... even if "marriage" be stricken from all legal works, it would still be somehow "unfair". I do not, can not, and will not support revenge.

In just a few short years you and other people opposed to gay rights will be looked at in the exact same light as the ignorant people that discriminated against black in the earlier half of the last century.

I will not write those books; ergo I do not care what they say of me. I care more that I oppress and debase no one because of what they are as opposed to who they are.

Congratulations; you were the first to fulfill my prophesy:

I only care when someone, homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, black, white, red, yellow, purple, green, short, tall, fat, skinny, smart, dumb, old, young, fast, slow, rich, poor, or middle-class are abused by a government entity.

That apparently makes me a bigot. Flame away!

"They can and do get married". Yes, they can and they do, but if you leave the state in which you live, your marriage is no longer recognized.

Thank you.

But none are Federally recognized.

Federal marriage has privileges not available by any other means - - including state marriage.

State marriage is still not Equal.

Who is federally married?

Get real guy?

The government issues marriage certificates pretty well right? They aren't asking for a new department, just to do a few more of what they are already doing. That is the weakest argument I have heard because it doesn't work in this situation.

The federal govn't does not issue marriage certs... that's a state thing.

Absolutely, Annee. I totally agree. Some people just don't want to see the inequality when it's as plain as the nose on their faces. They want the GLBTQ community to be happy with separate but equal even though it's not equal at all.

you totally agree with what?

that she wants a brand new version of marriage created for her fictitious idea of what's "equal"?

Equality is everyone treated the same, not some groups being treated different - for better or worse. Annee wants a new brand of marriage created just for gays...

That's not equality, it's favoritism.

lol your sexual preference isnt a "race"or some "protected endangered specie"...

It's sexual orientation - - - a birth right.

If it was choice - - it would be preference.

Umnn, no, i dated a girl back when I was younger that liked to "kiss" girls sometimes too... guess what though, it was a choice, she chose to get with a girl every once and awhile. Wasn't an "orientation" because she liked penis just fine.
