Just an update to keep members informed.

The 9/11 forum will indeed return, under the rules outlined in the opening post of this thread. It will happen some time in the next few weeks.

Our staff is enjoying a nice rest from the madness that has become the norm in the 9/11 forum, and I'm loathe to end their respite too soon.

As the 11 anniversary of 9/11 is approaching in just a few days. The forum has now been reopened -- as promised -- but under the new VERY STRICT rules.

I agree with your new rules, this should be fun to watch for sure.
Did you give your moderators a raise?

I truly believe that more people will participate now that the fear factor has been reduced.
Much appreciated.
Regards, Iwinder

Maybe you should post this on the Home page or the recent posts page and stick it to the top for a week or so just to be sure everyone is aware there is new and needed strict rules for the 911 Forum.

Regards, Iwinder

Thanks for your time in sorting this issue out. The new rules should help debate stay more civil, however I still have concerns that individual topics will remain as chaotic as ever. I also think that many of the stickied threads are no longer relevant and should be cleared.

I proposed a potential solution here: www.abovetopsecret.com... but people don't seem to have taken to the idea too fondly. I think we still need a continued dialogue on how to keep threads on topic and relevant.

Should we post our thoughts on the subject here? I'm really looking for guidance here as I don't participate much outside of the 911 forum and don't want to demand anything.

It's your world boss, we just post in it.

But it did seem a bit like Thunderdome in that forum. That said, hopefully the (respectful) exchange of ideas can continue.

Thanks for reopening the forum Bill.

I for one will be keeping an eye out and alerting if necessary rather than just complaining.

Let the discussions continue.

Why is the example of rudeness extended to the side that say or imply "shill" when its the other side that uses put downs and rudeness most of the time. Also I really wish we had a shill emoticon, after all we should be able to freely express our true opinions instead of lying to everyone what we think because we're not allowed to be honest apparently, and that would sufficiently defuse alot of heated I think. That is my personal, but strongly held, opinion.

Maybe it's because people use it as a statement of fact without any verifiable proof, or use it as a derogatory term twords another member, just my input on it..

Honestly i find it insulting that people throw it around just because you disagree with them, as if anyone disagreeing can't have a mind of their own.

9/11 was perhaps my most least visited section because of rethoric within all of ATS right before the former BTS sections.

Everytime I start a thread or make an honest post, someone or should I say a group of people, start calling me dellusional. I would expect this behavior on a mainstream site but ATS is an alternative site and should act like it in my opinion.

I am not saying everyone has to agree with everyone else, I am saying some people are posting on the 9-11 board for sole sake of debunking everything and without any second thoughts. They do not bother looking at any off-site information either.

You would think that someone that goes strictly with the government's version of events would have a better time playing backgammon on the msn rather than bust my chops here.

This thread is not for the discussion oh 9/11 issues.

and....

Just a few hours after the PM announcement and we've had our first account termination -- some people can't or won't get it.

It's not so much about offense as it is about derailing a discussion. Once the personal attacks start, that becomes the thread topic. We're not looking to keep people from being offended, we're looking to have the threads focus on the topic and not the participants

This! Thank you! ...and if there is one thing I wish you all would have added to the "new" rules, it would be a limit on how many times you could repeat the same point in multiple posts, in the same thread. Tiresome, and I think it comes from the same frustration that makes some start the name-calling: "Didn't you read my last sixteen posts on that very subject??? What is your purpose here???"

You should ban anyone who throws the word " Toofer" or "Truther" around at users from these self rightous 911 debunkers.

No more the word toofer and if if Israel is mentioned you shall not be called antisemitic.

If these terms are used insultingly then it's been made clear in this thread that it would be sufficient. I'm not a mod but it has been discussed previously.

Likewise "shill" and similar derogatory terms tossed in the direction of those who don't believe the conspiracy theories.

For what it is worth, I really appreciate you guys working hard to make the 9/11 forum a civil place. It's one I have only posted in a few times because you simply could not, with out getting attacked for daring to have an opinion of your own....

I've had lots to add there but I found myself avoiding the forum...Because it felt like...Why bother?

But now...Well, I am excited to go post in the 9/11 forum

I truly hope it works out this time. Remember everyone, we are all adults and there is no reason to behave as anything other than that.
