Please cite your sources. And be sure the methodology is sound because I'm quite good a tearing that stuff up.

I love statistics, because you can get them to tell you whatever you want them to depending on how you conduct the sampling.

BS'ing with statistics is an old trick.

A firearm is not for everyone. If I was as hesitant as you, I would go with a friend to a range and test out some of their rental guns. If you are worth anything at shooting and safety then you have the green light. If you cannot make it on paper or are unable to properly handle a weapon I suggest the following:

-Pepper Spray/Bear Mace
-A rape whistle
-Extendable Baton (Strength Required)
-Alarm system
-Pepper spray again.

I asked myself that same question a few months back. Of course the hardest part was picking a weapon. I didnt know a damn thing about firearms except for the M16 I trained with at bootcamp. So that being said I got myself an AR-15 "M4gery." I love it. I got it in the first week of July and have been to the range 4 times already. Today I got my second firearm as I plan on getting my hunting license this year. I got a Savage Arms Axis 30-06. I havent shot it yet though. My next purchase will be a .40 handgun.

In brief, yes I would get a weapon or two if I were you. Stock up on ammunition because it will likely become very expensive and hard to come by in the near future - especially if this online ammo ban passes.

c'mon man

the ones that are used on a person obviously, not every gun that exists

I'm talking suicides, murders heavily outweigh heroic intruder preventions

can't police suicide man, then you gotta pull the para cord off the shelf. and the cat is out of the bag with respect to gun powder, you can destroy all the guns on earth but if guys have metal shops and tools and materials they are going to build guns if they need em that badly.

Just want to point out that its illegal to use bear spray against humans if that type of thing concerns you. If somebody if making unprovoked attempts on your life please defend with anything you can grab!

Actually what the study found was that if you live in a home where there is a history of drug abuse, domestic violence, and crime you are more likely to be shot with a gun in the home. Considering a domestic violence conviction, habitual drug use, a conviction of a felony resulting in one year of prison time or a misdemeanor resulting in two years of jail time means you are federally denied the right to own a gun, the study found that criminals with guns tend to shoot people. Not exactly a revelation.

Wow. So you're not going to "waste your time" backing up your own claims?

That is terribly unfortunate for you.

I'm from the UK, we don't have that choice. Thanks for pointing out that a criminal may have a bigger gun than my non-existent one though. I will sleep much better at night knowing that the only people who have guns are criminals and police.

Yes. Buy multiple guns. Buy as many as you can.

I like knowing that my neighbors own firearms. The more the better, in my book. I try to own enough guns to arm myself, friends, family, and neighbors if the government ever comes knockin' or trying to disarm. You can never have too many, my friend!!! I highly recommend buying an AR15, AK47, AK74 or another so called "assault rifle" that excels at killing human beings, while you still can.

I personally believe that citizenship begins at firearm ownership.
Rights are worthless if you do not possess the means to back them up.

That's why Isoroku Yamamoto was against any attempt to invade the United States during World War 2. He knew that there would be a rifle hiding behind every blade of grass.

Seriously, if everyone who could legally possess a firearm were packing a gun every day, wouldn't that make people as a whole a little more honest?

You sure wouldn't have some guy walking into a theater and opening fire if he knew everybody inside was packing a gun. Or if he was crazy enough to still do so, the body count would have been quite a bit lower.

So my answer to the original question is yes. Buy a gun. Use it responsibly. Shoot and maintain it often.

When you get down to brass tacks its really do you want to have a fighting chance or are you comfortable with your local police response time.

I think families especially should be armed as a single person I could run but a family is more or less going to have to deal with a situation.

I think everyone should decide for themselves but honestly I think the most responsible thing is to be self sufficient and able to defend that on all levels.

Ok first off your asking to buy a fire arm. A gun is a very powerful thing. The gun was designed to replace long ranged weapons in the beginning it was to replace the bow and arrow. Now you are probably an american just as I am. Now as an American we believe in freedom thats why we seperated from our mother countries England Scotland Germnay Ireland Italy and Russia. say all these is because we were all created by these countries. And ruled by one. Now When we seperated we made amendments. One of those was the right to bare arms. You should buy a gun for a few reasons
1. protection. in case of any attack.
2. Hunting if you ever (not have the guts) but the balls to kill an animal like every other person then go right ahead but in case you need to research the right type of gun for the right animals.

I bought a gun. Why? because i have ptsd and everyonce and awhile i go shooting and hunting because i need to the longer i dont have a gun the more out of place i feel. I had a friend who saw too much death i went hunting with him he never shot the deer. to some people like my friend he had seen to much death he never went hunting again but he still owns a gun. I never question him about that hunting trip.

No you dont need a gun - but I do recommend you have some form of non-lethal and lethal protection.
you can buy a gun - its a very easy way of protecting yourself - the bad news is - you might take a life
un-necesarily - unless life threatening situation - always go for the genital area. its non lethal with prope'r
medical treatment. and once you shoot someone in the balls - no one will mess with you. ever.

Lol. How can someone confuse a Zombie with a person?

the zombie bit their groin as they were peeing. by the time they go their pants back on they were also a zombie with no other identifiable zombie like markings. therefor a normal human-like zombie.

Get a gun if you want, you have the right to if you want. Protect your home, use it for hunting, or just a collection.

And you chose Tyler Durden as your avatar?
Incongruous man,
But, hey, if you don't want a firearm, fine, Don't own one.
I still say a fully loaded ire extinguisher is a good idea, though.
Agree to disagree?
