Yes...live in fear...be paranoid...go grab your guns and sleep with them so you feel safe.

What happens when somoene breaks into your house, isn't armed...but then gets to your gun before you can...and now they are armed???

Yes...it's an unlikely hypothetical...but so is your rape fantasy.

I'm sorry you dont have a funny bone, but any unlikely situation where you need a gun to protect yourself, is still possible. If your responsible and educated, it is a good idea to have a gun.

Although the thought of you having a gun is indeed a scary one (based on your first paragraph) I would say yes. They are a great investment right now with all the politicians hopping up and down and arguing about gun control.
They are a great tool. You never know when you may have to shoot an animal for food. Especially the way things are going at the moment.
There may come a time when you find the need to defend your home, your loved ones or your property through force.

I have purchased my pistol and shotgun as a means of home defense, along with NRA sanctioned home defense courses.
I would say if your not ready to use it to protect your life and loved ones around you then.... no.
On the other hand, I would recommend going to a local range and seeing how comfortable you are at first and go from there.

Or, buy a rifle and go hunting! Still outdoors but will test the stomach for gun ownership.

I keep a fully loaded fire extinguisher in my home, however i hope to never use it. I also suggest everyone else does as well.
I keep a fully loaded weapon, and again hope i never have to use it.
I have car insurance, and again, hope i never have to use it.
Same with the snakebite kit in my golfbag.
If you do acquire a weapon/gun, make sure you know how to use it.
As for the several bashing your first sentence, they may have a point, but then again there may be a point where in a possible scenario where you're armed, you wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger, just as you would on the fire extinguisher if your drapes were aflame.

Or they could have grabbed a large knife from the kitchen. Meanwhile wife and husband hear the comossion and await the knife wielding guy with a .45.

Alternatively they have no gun and knify man just comes and does bad stuff to them...

I know which scenario I prefer.

Guns are not going to keep you safe. The human mind is the most powerful weapon. Having the right knowledge will help you more in these troubling time than having a gun. If you do get a gun it is a great responsibility. You have to learn about not only your gun but also about gun safety when you should or shouldn't use it.

I do not believe you are ready for a gun. I have several and unless the world really does go crazy I hope I never have to use one of them. Taking a human life is the most extreme of all things you can do. After all we only get one and how would you feel if your life was cut short because of some moron who shouldn't have a gun. Of course true morons don't need guns to kill people. They drink or use other drugs and drive... They get distracted with text messages while driving.... Way more people die in accidents caused by stupid people than by people using guns.

The bottom line is you need to learn how to survive first not just how to survive a "Zombie Apocalypse" but how to survive life itself and anything life may throw at you.... Once you can handle that you might be responsible enough to own a gun. Once you achieve that I hope you are wise enough to keep it locked up and away from your children...

You talk of paranoia yet you fear the power of inanimate object's. No one here is cowering in fear, especially when some of us have enough responsibility enough to tame it.

So when those said 'cowards' put themselves in the line for you, what will you call them then? What I see here is all politics and no reality. If it's not guns, its going to be swords, knives, or whatever tools of self preservation may come about.

In any case, whats the word paranoia doing in a conspiracy forum??

Whether you get a gun or not should be contingent on whether you are willing to use it when it is needed. A gun is not some paperweight you can keep around for the sake of having one. It's a weapon, it is meant to defend you from life threatening situations by augmenting your ability to inflict deadly damage against an aggressor. Having a gun of any type requires extraordinary responsibility. If you're going to be smoking crap and keeping a loaded gun in the house then you are doing exactly what responsible gun owners hate the most, an irresponsible gun owner.

I'm not going to tell you to quit your habits, nor am I going to discourage you from owning a gun. But, having once been a user myself, and being an avid gun owner, I can assure you the two don't mix.

That said, if you have any questions about guns, gun laws, permits, or anything related to guns, send me a U2U. I will give you complete and concise answers. I am your friendly neighborhood FSME for the weapons forum and I am here to help.

I feel truly sorry that you feel that way. I bet you are much smarter than you think (or maybe than you pretend be). Anyway what happens if you aren't smart enough to conserve your ammo and run out. How much use would your gun be then? It would then be about as useful as a hammer...

If you are facing someone who is wishing to cause you harm, a gun will keep you safer then all the knowledge in the world. Dont feel sorry for me, When TSHTF, ill be armed and youll be trying to think your way out of trouble.

ok not killing without reason. You might be heading in the right direction towards being responsible enough for gun ownership. You still have further to go first though.

Listen folks, the topic is pretty clear. All you guys arguing about the usefulness of a gun in pointless what if scenarios and trying to turn this into a political discussion need to cut it out. The rules of the forum are simple. Please follow them.

This person is asking for help. If you dont want to offer help then don't.

Or...bad guy has a bigger better gun then hubby and wife do...with a night scope...and a laser sight. OH NO...FEAR...better go out and buy a better gun with more accessories so you can sleep soundly at night

This game of make believe is kind of fun...but it really is a childs game. They play it because they don't have the capacity to distinguish what is possible and what is probable. It seems that gun supporters in this thread that live their lives in fear of scenarios that are possible but not probable employ the same reasoning as children.

you have to see a gun as a tool, like a hammer you need to ask your self how many times am i going to shoot it..you dont go get it every time some one nocks on the door ,how do you handle your every day life befor you get a gun, your no safer with one..i have had gun to my head & they havent went off. i own lots of guns under drama i never use them if you shoot a intruder & he lives he can sue you while he is in jail ..dont buy one
