This is the answer, Wrabbit. Once you've seen the movie, you'll know. I have seen it.

Bane is the single most evil, disturbing villain I've ever seen on screen in any movie, full stop. Worse than Ledger's Joker, morally and psychologically. He is a complete, unrestrained monster. The fact that the mask might remind you of Cthulhu, should not be taken as a coincidence.

TDKR is not a movie for children, or the psychologically unstable. Parents, do NOT take your children to see this film.

Okay, I don't want spoilers and I care absolutely nothing about plot. This series lost me a couple ago and I really, honestly, don't care.

Having said THAT.... Please tell me this, as someone who has seen it. How would this villain be in a 'kids seeing this movie' kinda of way as it ranks to ...say... "The Cell" (Psychopathic ...in a way even I was seriously disturbed by) or... Some of the deep bloody movies like Saw in the first ones...? Is it THAT bad for head games and going to dark places? Hard to articulate what I mean, but your first post says you know what I'm trying to say....?

My heart goes out to the victims and their families, but let's not get sucked into fear. This is (to me) an obvious attempt at problem-reaction-solution. Nothing is more terrifying than senseless violence like this. This is going to be used to create a maelstrom of fear. Keep your heads people. I know it's tragic but don't get sucked into the fear. They're going to use this to push something... probably not FEMA or Iran or anything that predictable... But this is obviously designed to put us into a state of fear. The timing, the setting, everything is catering to what 99% of Americans have never experienced and therefore fear the most. If this happened in rural Columbia it might get a brief mention in our newspapers. Remember what they did with Columbine and every other "random" act of violence in this country. I for one will pay my respects to the victims and their families but I refuse to get sucked into the fear-driven hype! This terrorism is just such an old game...

The dark movie plot, the behavior of people reacting to bad reviews and making threats, a dumb-ass parent bringing a 3 month old to a late night screening of a violent film, the massacre, the fixation on death and destruction that will fixate the nation for the next few weeks - all just symptomatic of the barbarism associated with a decaying society...

I agree with ya Jack, totally agree.

Let Freedom Ring!!!

Ok, now that we got our patriotic mating yells out of the way, let's get real.

Considering how many authority agencies there are, why does everyone assume it is TSA and not FBI, HS, CIA,NSA, whatever.

And if anyone tries to work FEMA into this, I will scream.

Obviously you people don't understand LE agencies to even comment.

HS was developed to give your locals the tools and funds to handle crises such as these. That means all your local LE now have a emergency response program, and people trained just for terrorist or bioattacks.

Which is why the reports have been that the police responsed really well, because they have been given the means to train for more of these incidents.

Now what the FEDS will do is question the FBI on why they didn't have information on this guy. And how did he manage to keep under the radar.

With your knee jerk reaction to everything FED, and giving the FEDS amazing imaginary powers, you forget that the local law enforcement do have plenty to say about what happens.

Your locals have more clout than you think. I have personally seen it.

and you forget to use commone sense.

If you place agents of any breed in front of a movie theater, than a perp will go to a grocery store.

And you can't place agents in front of every public building. As much as you like to think they can.

What they will focus on is how did a nutjob buy all these guns and tear gas, and a kevlar vest, and no one knew about it.

you must not be reading my posts. I believe it’s the individuals responsibility to protect themselves, this is done by less restrictions on open carry.

Have you noticed this stuff mostly happens in states with the most gun control laws????

Yes, bullets penetrate sheetrock and fabric quite easily. Theaters are pretty cheaply built.

I have seen a lot of people saying they thought it was a promo or a gag, but I have to ask what type of people would create such a promo? If I were in a theatre, and a guy in a gas mask with a shotgun, and teargas walked in and pointed the gun at someone, I would shoot him. If it turned out later to be a promo or a gag, I wouldn't feel the least bit sorry for the dead guy or the idiots that planned the bone-headed stunt. You don't walk into a crowded theatre, looking like a bad guy, and pointing a gun.

People really need to start assuming things are threats instead of assuming they are NOT threats. People these days think the government is supposed to protect us from sharks, and wolves, and mosquitoes, and diseases, and our diets, and crazy gunmen? Really? NO! We have a responsibility to protect ourselves. We need to stop assuming everything is just going to be ok, and whatever is happening must have been pre-planned or approved by someone. NO! Assume you need to protect yourself, and once you are safe, then figure out what the hell just happened.

Well.....that's what television does. It desensitizes people. It takes away it's natural abilities to think properly, and react accordingly. So, of course they thought it was part of the show. People have become stupid and lazy. They want someone else to fix the problems of this world, while they sit around, eating popcorn.

Problem
Reaction
What will be the "solution"?

I think we all know the answer to that one. The solution: MORE CONTROL.

How's that saying going...about deserving neither liberty nor security?

Ew, i just had a brainfart. This happened in "Denver", right?

Wow. This did happen in Colorado and that picture is in the Denver airport. 3 weapons gas mask. I'm not one to put things like this together, but come on. There are way too many coincidences here.

I am so confused by all this.

The movie review website Rotten Tomatoes had to shut down commenting on the movies webpage a few days ago. People were posting threats of murder and rape against the movie reviewers that posted bad reviews.

ATS thread on that: Attacks on the Dark Knight Rises Rotten Tomatoes Page

This is all just tragic.

Holy cow what is happening to people?

Seriously, I pay close attention everyday to world events, it is getting stranger and stranger.

It's people can be stupid and evil on the internet because they feel it is not real or things said do not count as reality often.

I just don't understand what kind of parent would take their 3 month old to a midnight showing at a movie theatre. The past two Batman movies have been really "dark" and I don't think it is any place for a child under thirteen.

I cant belive he broke the law. I mean, its a law, he cant do that. Sarc/ off

gun laws only bind Law abiding citizens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all it would take was one or two people in the crowed to have had a gun to stop this crazy person. Less would have died!

colorado is a CCW state......
you have to take a class to get a certificate in which you take to LE to get a permit. you can carry a concealed weapon on you and in your vehicle.

from what was said above, that chain of theaters does not allow one to bring in a weapon....
edit on July 20th 2012 by greeneyedleo because: (no reason given)

That's whats really annoying me with the gun-debate detractors. Guns were not allowed in the theatre. Hence he was already doing something illegal - or at least against the policy of the theatre which any LAW abiding citizen would have been escorted from/not allowed into.

Yet they're still screaching on about it being a precedent to take your rights away.

Gee, what do you think the politicians will say when they are confronted with the facts that

A: He was already committing an offence by being armed in a place with a no gun policy,
B: Law Abiding persons were already without guns in said place.

A clue - eat their words? Or just not consider it? If it were a psyop/false flag, then this would have happened in broad day light where concealed weapons are likely to be all over the place, given the laws of your state. But no, it happens in a place where already it is not legal to posess a firearm.. Good logic you orcs and ogres.

It beggars belief they they're still going on about false flags, government psyops, etc.

All I know... if I'd had a gun where I live, there would be a lot less violent criminals in my suburb.

Doesn't this remind you of the shooting in Arizona with Gabby Giffords?

Obama even gave a speech out there. He called for civility.

When I lived in an urban area it was very regular to see toddlers and infants at midnight and 1AM showings of some really horribly violent movies.

Good parenting all around. Spending quality time with the kids.

This place is a joke. So many insinuating "well, if someone had been a C/C fewer would have died." BS. It was a dark, smokey theater. I can imagine a few of you knuckleheads trying to play cop in there & far more would have died in the crossfire. Just like in a bank robbery... Very few actually turn into a shooting. But one of you bozo's pulls your weapon to play hero & people would end up dying. The love of guns in the US is beyond disturbing. More guns = More violence. FACT. The NRA is a money making machine for themselves & gun manufactures & could care less about the loss of human life. FACT. Get a more constructive hobby.

More people need to be trained in how to operate a firearm. If even 2 people in that theatre were armed this guy would have been dropped as quick as he started. Infact, if this nut knew that he had a 50/50 chance of running into another armed citizen I highly doubt he would have done it in the first place. An armed population is a deterrent to criminals. Brainwashing people into thinking that they can't defend themselves turns them into victims.

I bet TSA ends up in the movie theatres now. Get ready to be sexually assaulted before you see a movie.

OH FFS... TSA -- Transport.. Or are we now giving them a new name? Theatre Security?

If someone says that once more I'm going to fly to the US, buy a gun, and shoot them for criminal mental ignorance.

The theatre had already a NO WEAPON policy. So your legal dudes packing heat would have been breaking the law.

Crikey, even John Wayne would cry...

So whilst he never raised any flags for the authorities, he obviously did with his mum.

CX.

She should be held as an accessory if she had any idea and neglected to warn others. I for one am sick of these tards who later say "I knew he/she was messed up and and would go off sooner or later". How many of us have come in contact with someone who is clearly mentally ill? I'm not talking "unusual behavior", I'm talking about the ones you see and think "how can they possibly function in society"? Then you see them arming themselves and doing extensive training, and think everything is ok?

Like Ted Kaczinskey's brother turning him in when he learned he was the Unibomber.

It reminds me of a lot of these types of shootings if the police don't kill them, they commit suicide on the spot, or remain confined to an asylum for the rest of their life, we seldom hear much about them, or from them.

this is just... horrible. Can't even watch a movie without worrying about getting shot up.

Horrible/tragic story for sure.

I do hope that before people applaud the forfeiting of more of their rights in response to this "domestic terrorism", they consider math first.

This was 10 people dead. A horrible loss no doubt -- I'm not downplaying it.

Motor fatalities in 2010: 32,885

2 HOURS off the roads in the US (everyone stay home, take two-hour break) would save more lives than were lost here (this is math, again, terribly sorry for the loss of life today).

If we see new security measures at theaters and such I think that will be more tragic/dangerous in the long run. :-(

They got this little creature alive, yes? Yes... Near as I can tell, they got him alive. Well, now I am reading headlines about how they expect it will take days to clear his apartment. He booby trapped the whole thing by initial police impressions and reports.

Lets use the animal to help clear his own little cave..... I really don't want to see one cop or anyone ELSE for that matter, added to the casualty list because it appears...this ain't over yet. He set this up as a gift to keep on giving in the sickest way.
