The only instances I have heard of night vision cameras being used in auditoriums (such as the trailers for Paranormal Activity) have only been on isolated occasions when studios do early screenings and want audience reactions for their films; either for reference or to use in trailers. I have never been aware of a movie theater having these installed on their own dime to prevent piracy or people sneaking in. Not a feasible business expense.

They have to have had some cameras, or maybe he smashed them?
Also must be cell phone pics or vids from other patrons. A fan would take pics of the venue, the sign outside, inside etc. must have had loads of die hard fans attending. Obsessive fans want everything. However aren't you supposed to turn your phones off once the show starts? Not that anybody obeys that request.

You can tweet and Facebook etc right on your phone so possibly some did that, but their accounts may have been deleted by authorities by now.

There are people obsessed with certain actors in the film and looking into those fan bases may provide more. it's not just movie fans is what I'm saying. It can even be a music artist in the soundtrack. I've gone to movies just because I was a fan of the artist who had a song in the movie. Trust me, the fans can be obsessed with every detail and want to share with others to show they attended.

Fans can quite often get the scoops before MSM. It's a known fact fansites can be better than official sites.


Of course I mean they might have caught some footage before the incident

Could be a possibility especially if they were part of a cell or something...better to keep people thinking it was a lone crazy then a terror attack...especially this close to the election?

Very true - I'm sure there are more than a few pictures posted of people inside the auditorium before the show started that got posted to social networking sites minutes after they were taken. Unfortunately I don't think that there would be too much footage during the actual attack. With the movie playing and (most likely) a sold out auditorium, people pulling their phones out would have probably been instantly harassed by their fellow audience members.

Although I am still VERY interested in seeing some pictures of the layout of the auditorium's entrance and exit doors. Typically auditorium exit doors open to the outside rather than the inside.

All doors on commercial establishments SHOULD be opening out. It's fire code.

I know, that's why I'm confused. Many reports have been saying once Holmes left the auditorium, he came back and 'kicked in' the door. Wondering if it was just an embellishment of the facts for dramatic effect?

I know the movie theaters out here in New York City have security cameras towards the front above the emergency exits on the both sides of the theater. Some theaters have even some of the orb/ dome type of security cameras located at the back. I am not sure if others theaters around the country have the same security procedures.

There was an aerial photo of the exit door in the one of the many threads on this shooting, but I can't find the thread now. The exit doors did open outwards, and the door was not damaged in the slightest bit. There were bloody footprints leading all in and out of the door, probably from the aftermath of the shooting as well as the investigation, but I was amazed at the insane amount of blood that must have been present to create all those bloody tracks.

The exit door must have been opened from the inside, either by him, or someone else.

Thank you for your post! I've got an extensive history (although on the West coast, not the East) in the exhibition industry and have never seen or heard of this technology being used inside of the actual auditoriums. Unfortunately, I don't imagine a small theater in a suburb of Denver would be able to afford this kind of technology (as the AMC theaters I ran here in Los Angeles were never budgeted to be equipped with such) but if they do, that would be a HUGE advantage in finding out what really happened. Hopefully we will hear more about this soon. Thanks again for that post!

Those reports were wrong. In any developing story there are always errant media reports made. It's the MSM trying to beat their competition, dramatize, monetize, and make news instead of report it factually.

This wasn't all of it obviously, because they didn't show the neck piece and the leg pieces as well. But I understood that part. I'm sure the police are only releasing bits and pieces because if they release all of it, what will be left over for trial? Or are we supposed to completely taint the jury pool more than I'm sure it is now?

Thank you - I just found those pictures. I posted (many many pages back) about how it's not difficult to prop one of these auditorium doors open. Even to reopen it from the outside is fairly simple. Can be done with a piece of duct tape or even a small piece of cardboard - also is very hard to detect unless you're looking very closely. It's entirely possible that he had a small piece of something blocking the bolt mechanism and just pulled the door open upon re-entry.

OR, maybe he was wearing something like that, along with something else, and a gas mask, and maybe he wasn't bulletproof at all?

I'm sure he was wearing those, PLUS all the rest. As I mentioned above, my guess is, the police probably are trying to avoid tainting the jury pool more than it already is.

Yep. Here's the link for anyone else that wants to see the exit door from the outside. I agree it would be very easy to leave, rig the door very quickly, and be able to return from the outside unassisted. It would be virtually impossible to kick the door open from the outside though, and I have seen that verbiage on some big news outlet stories. The door in the pics is not damaged.
