Popular video game reveals villain as “leader of the 99%”

After months of teasing, Treyarch has finally revealed the villain of its upcoming first person shooter, Black Ops 2.

The game’s main villain is Raul Menendez, described as the “idolized Messiah of the 99%”—a Julian Assange-like character who’s old, experienced, and hell bent on starting a global insurrection against the status quo. He hands Sgt. Frank Woods, the protagonist of the first game, a necklace at the end of the trailer which symbolizes a connection between the two characters.

This is propaganda at its finest and a slap in the face to Occupy!

They have vilified Occupy and are conditioning the masses. Anybody who has read my threads knows that I’m no fan of the Occupy movement because of their violent and destructive actions time and again, so I think this portrayal is pretty funny. Obviously this game is fictional in nature. We all know Occupy doesn’t even have a ‘leader’, at least that's what we're lead to believe.

However, I find it interesting that this is coming not from the government or news media but from the entertainment industry.

Is the anti-Occupy sentiment spreading??

They're fools, for doing this. All this does is give Occupy greater legitimacy.

I've suspected for some time, however, that the purpose of some contemporary games is to brainwash youth. The intro to Gears of War 3 was a particularly egregious example.

Do some reading on the various forms and brain washing and the long term side effects (insanity). Ever wonder why brand new doctors called psyciatrists came out of the woodwork about the time the government disclosed the information on the long term side effects of brain washing?

The line between entertainment/advertising and brain washing is a thin one. Whether it was deliberate or just concidence, brain washing is a huge problem.

I dunno, Games from my experience working in the field for a few years, they know whats popular and eye catching that's why there are often so many references to the "Illuminati, NWO and all other clandestine organizations" etc. Great for story lines and more importantly great for their "Bottom line" IMO.

By and large, Occupy has been a peaceful affair. Certainly pepper-spraying protesters while they sit calmly in a row like this is a gross abuse of power. It should have our collective blood boiling, whether or not we even agree with the protesters themselves. What was meant to be a protest against economic equality quickly morphs into a protest against the police state.

And make no mistake, the powers of the police in this country have grown out of hand. I’ve written at length on the militarization of the police, of SWAT team abuses, and the way that the war on terror and the war on drugs have both contributed to what is really just a war on individual liberty. Occupy Wall Street may need to grow up and evolve, but a far greater and more pressing issue facing this country is what to do about the security state we’ve erected about us at the local, state, and federal level.
