While slavery happened long ago, some people remember the lynchings and extreme discrimination, which wasn't a very long time ago, and they hold on to those memories. It's not always bitching about slavery. Just a thought.

Geez.. Ok.. I am sorry.. Let me get out a encyclopedia and see if I can list every example so I dont get nit picked. Point being your average thug gangsta holding up his pants in a local middle school is not acting like a little ass hat because his great grandpa was lynched. He is going it because he is allowed to by his parents and he has a crap attitude because maybe his dad isnt around and his mom is on welfare and his role models are older thug gangstas. if you want to blame that on segregation or lynchings feel free but i am 40 years old and I live in a average sized city in the middle of the country and I have always had black people in schools with me growing up, I have worked with them and I have friends that are black as well. I have NEVER in my lifetime seen then treated any differently and I have never seen anyone "lynched". I am not sure where the hell you live that people in our lifetime are getting lynched but its not around here and I have not seen it on the news. So anyone my age or younger has no excuse for acting like they are owed something by the world. And I use black as my example because that is what I have been exposed to most, not to single any one race out. But trying to say they act that way because someone they might have known was lynched is crazy. As I said. The excuses need to stop at some point. If people want the blatant racism to stop then people need to stop living up to the stereotypes and stop screaming racism every time someone doesnt get the outcome they expect from somewhere. Hell I got called racist one time because I wouldn't sell a underage kid cigarettes when I was younger and worked at a convenience store.

well said, and you know what, the mentality of the kid who cried racist (even though it was because he was underage) is exactly the same behaviour, on a larger scale, which forced banks to relax lending rules because certain people, OBAMA included, took legal action on the basis that tighter lending criteria disproportionately affected blacks, ie, they called the lenders "racist", even though it was not racist and the criteria applied to anyone regardless of skin colour!

YET OBAMA IS PRESIDENT- this is a strange ol world

If i was concerned for my well being id observe both gentleman's body language before going down which path and i more importantly wouldnt drop my guard around any stranger late at night

Well, me too, and in the hypothetical I posed, I would assume they were both working together and I would find another path rather than walk between them, LOL!

But, in general, I think white people are more afraid of black people, and from what I hear from friends and see in comedy skits and such, I think black people are more scared of black people too.

so it's a culture thing. if the black people in the park were named the huxtables and clare was making potato salad and theo was playing horseshoes, you and your family wouldn't be intimidated.

thanks for making me understand american racism.

Yes, it is a cultural thing, but the culture is the race and vice versa. Sure, if the Huxtables or the family from Fresh Prince of Bel Aire were dining in the park, wearing polo shirts, and playing horseshoes, the impression would be entirely different, but that is the narrow exception to the rule. Those are not the typical or average black people. Those are not even the typical or average white people. Those are sitcom families, LOL.

We have a venue here in town called The Moon. On Friday nights it is a country bar known as Stetsons on the Moon. On Saturday nights it is a hip hop club just called The Moon. I have gone to both nights, but on Friday nights, I wear my boots and jeans, and I carry my gun and knife as usual with no problem, nobody ever knows. On Saturday night, I have to go through a walk-through metal detector, and a wand, and a gauntlet of security guards after buying my ticket in the parking lot, just to get into the club. They obviously do not treat both "cultures" equally, and for good reason!

I used to own an under 21 dance club myself. We had to start using a wand at the door, because black teen girls were sneaking in razor blades and knives and occasional guns! White teen girls were sneaking in drugs and things to huff. Sure it is a vast generalization, and there were a couple of exceptions to the generalization, but 90% of the time if we found something on a white girl it was drug related, and if we found something on a black girl it was violence related. The boys didn't try so hard to be sneaky, they were pretty compliant with the rules, they just wanted to be where the girls were at.

You are correct!
Even myself!

I dont like racist. I dont hate them,i just dont like them for the harm and setbacks they cause humanity.

Oh and its from any race. If you are a racist i dont like you. Have no place for your type in my world, family, freinds and the likes.

I believe its my biggest tussle with my teachings. I cant find space in my heart to love, care, or concern myself with racist.

I think the worlds systems are broken and greed driven, but can be fixed in absolution. Then racist in absolution should be treated like murderers...... Jailed for life. Better yet, sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Along with the crooked politicians whom have decieved us and betrayed our trust.

Little excessive? Perhaps!

Unfortunately there would have be a threat to all humanity for that to perhaps come into play.

I mean if its broke, lets fix it so that we start over just, and true so that we dont repeat the past.

Sooo yep. Im for it. Hold everyone accountable for their actions.

Ehhhhh nevermind.

Just like all evil/ bad people in this world, racist will be judged. Yes you will.

Hahahahaha oh the day!

You really should educate yourself. Predatory lending didn't have a damn thing to do with feeling all guilty about black people.

Do you really think people like The Huxtables are a rare thing??? You need to meet more people, because I had an upbringing very similar to that.Your post goes to show some people will never relieve themselves of a certain mindset. More Huxtables than you think, exist.

I'll play nice. I'm glad you had a Huxtable experience, and I hope it really was everything it appeared to be. But, in my experience, I've known some families like that, and things always fall apart at some point. 3 examples just from the past 2 years.

*One very well-to-do family I knew well, with 3 kids in college, all of a sudden the father's hidden gay affair comes to light, the jilted lover turns over evidence of many white-collar crimes, they lose their houses, cars, and the father goes to jail, and the kids had to get jobs to stay in college.

*One typical and highly religious family, no cussing, cute suburban home, family dinners, private school, etc., etc, until the father gets pulled over for DUI, with drugs in his possession, and come to find out the mother had known for years and been hiding his addiction, and then one of the girls comes forward about sexual abuse, and it gets blamed on the drugs. What was going on inside those walls was very well hidden!

*One family, father was a well-known politician in his state, kids were college athletes, and one kid had a booming business of his own with start-up money from dad. Then a 20 year affair, complete with a whole other set of kids comes to light. Dramatic divorce, which uncovers shady dealings and mob money, and then the oldest child's business assets are seized, the whole thing crumbles down, and he has to actually flee the country!

OK, those are the three sets of Huxtables I can think of just from the past couple of years or so. Don't get me wrong, my mom was a housewife, my dad was a successful business man, my brother and I had very good upbringings, popular in school, college degrees, and now we are each married with our own kids. We had a GREAT family, but it was far, far, far from being the Huxtables.

There are a lot of posters on this thread that I thought were different, really. But in the race threads, they show their hand. Some of these guys talk about we're all Americans, but when something like this comes up, you get to see who they DON'T consider American. It's a damn shame. From my grandfathers down, we served this country but to some...ya just aint American.

I have lived in many countries of the world. Ethnic groups are not comfortable with other ethnic groups. It's common sense and doesn't require a million dollar study.

It's funny though. When I go to other countries, I usually hang with the black guy from America vice hanging with the white guy from said country. WHY? Cause I have more in common with the black guy from the US I'd suppose. Of course this doesn't work too well if you stay in the states.

Americans aren't any more racist than the rest of the world. We are way ahead of the curve if you ask me.

When I said I had a similar upbringing, I didn't mean all of our problems were solved in 30 min. segments, or it was all peaches and cream. My dad was ex-military, so he was no Cliff. And you don't have to play nice with me...you feel how you feel. You won't hurt my feelings, but I will respond.

Its collectivist thinking to believe all of any race have traits exactly the same type.
That is not an intelligent choice.I learned to hate certain people as I love certain people.Their skin isn't a factor it's how an individual or group of individuals act,not the entire race of people.Who could possibly understand such a giant swath of humanity? To pile them in and intellectually round them off to a pigmentation is a retarded thought process. This is true of religion as well.
Actions and who performs them should be the deciding factor, skin that's a distraction.

Pointing out the obvious racism is not anti-American. Quite the opposite.

We could play the "I have more black friends than you do" game.

Sure, I'm racist, and my black friends are racist also. And, we can talk about it openly, and we can benefit from the differences in each other's cultures. If we tried to pretend we were not racist, or that we were not different, then we would run into all kinds of misunderstandings and we probably wouldn't stay friends.

We are different. We look different, we are raised different, we have different goals and expectations in life, and we have different histories and life experiences. If we pretend we are the same, then we are really doing more harm than good.

NOBODY is colorblind to race. If you try to pretend you are not white, or that someone else is not black, then you are missing a big chunk of information and looking at the world from a very limited and dangerous paradigm.

Admit, and EMBRACE the differences, and be honest about the parts you do or don't like. There are plenty of things about me that are probably easy to dislike. That's fine, I'm not sensitive to it, my friends just lay it on the line, and we have better relationships for it.

I probably fall into the category your talking about in your mind but I wouldnt put myself there. I dont have a problem with peoples race. As I said before, I have a problem with people living right up to the stereotypes that have been placed on them and then and then getting mad when someone calls them out on it. Pretty much I just dont like ignorant people that want free rides and want to complain when they have to work for something. I dont think that is racist. If you do then so be it. I think you will be treated how you treat others and that what comes around goes around. Basically, act like a moron and expect me to treat you like one. Why is that racist?

Im not racist, I named my kids Token and Jamima..........for crying out loud..........what the hell is up with all the, this means your racist, and that means your racist threads lately? What? Does Obama's ole lady have a stupid news staff? It sure seems much a do about nothing. And to bring politics into it?

I mean surely not all Americans can be racist.....what about the little Japanese boy that lives in Orange county? Surely he listens to hip hop and eats saltines while sipping his curry flavored milkshake......

Granted you may find this post un-PC, yet I find all this crap about race lately generally absurd and mostly unnecessary.

We can live without labels, stereotypes while holding truth behind them, does not make one racist.

It just means that we're living up to a standard dictated by our culture that's evolved into a twist of Americana.

Now if you'll excuse me, my toothless cousin/wife and 32 kids is waiting for me in my trailer park...its banjo night at the barn burner and I gots to practice my twang and trim my mullet.

HA racist indeed......the very notion sends my hemorrhoids a flamin.

Lets see, are American secretly racist? Well, are Chinese secretly good at math, are Black people secretly better at sports, are Russians secretly better at holding their Vodka, You can see where this is going. The title is incredible stupid. It stereotypes all Americans right out of the gate. Epic fail.

Incidentally, I wasn't raised that way.

Mixed race people are black.

Or white.

Depends on which racist you ask, LOL!

Yes, mixed race people are also racist. They are scared of thugs and bankers just like the rest of us. Nobody wants to meet a muscular black man in a dark alley, and nobody wants to meet a smug Romney looking fellow in a bank.
