If you do not have an accurate impactful alternative perspective of the game you are involved in IN REAL TIME....it is IMPOSSIBLE to make anticipatory Tactical decisions.

That mean i you dont have reliable Eyes in the Sky upstairs then you cannot read and react as a Coaching Staff when Playing Teams who DO IN FACT HAVE HIGH QUALITY EYES IN THE SKY.

Many Teams have tried ex-Players in this position and the vast majority produce sub-par results....Players simply cannot remove themselves from the On-Ice Perspective....its nearly impossible.

This mean Ex-Players are LESS LIKELY to provide the impacts an NHL TEAM NEEDS....YES...THIS IS AN AGANST THE GRAIN REALITY....HOWEVER ITS STILL A REALITY.

So this leaves Non-NHLers as potential options.....and of course the Advanced Stats cabal who have ripped off Moma2 and the NHS for over a Decade have fraudlently embedded themselves into this role....they provide far less than optimal results they are just Numbers conjobs but they can always provide the excuses Teams wish to hear.

Here is a fine example.

The LUST Playaction or the Late Upspeed Support Playaction has been adopted by MANY NHL TEAMS TODAY....in fact it has changed PPs and PKs AND HOW THEY ARE APPROACHED IN SOME big big ways.

Yes...its a top end Playaction....yes it produces excellent results...yes it is suited to McDavids skillset Moma2 built it for him.....and finally YES OTHER TEAMS ARE DISCOVERING WAYS TO COUNTER THE PLAYACTION.

So what ?
There are ten ways to Sunday to tweak that Playaction and make it even more deadly than it can be now....in fact it was designed to actually create EVEN BETTER OPPORTUNITY if Teams try to send a floater way upice to cause static ....thats called "cheating" and you can PUT THE HAMMER DOWN on team IMMEDIATLY if they try slipping a guy upice like that.....

But you see.....go back in this thread and learn that Moma2 never released peripheral data surrounding this LUST Playaction....it was INTENTIONALLY EXCLUDED.....because Moma2 knew this day was coming that the League would quickly evolve to analyse and then copy the LUST Playaction.....Moma2 HELD BACK THE CRITICAL FOLLOW-UP DATA.....FOR DAY JUST LIKE THIS.

So I ask you Oilers Coaches and Managers.....list for mE ten options to reply to the defensive pressure opponents have been specificlly applying to the LUST Playaction when you execute it.....TEN...10.....I want ten options....realistic ones....ones with data to support their implementation.

Because Moma2 DOES IN FACT HAVE TEN OPTIONS AVAILABLE.

Had the Oilers brought Moma2 in to advise and consult in the application of NHS focuses the Oilers would now be far ahead of the curve just salivating and waiting for opponents to try to stop the LUST Playaction because every time the do they become EVEN MORE VULNERABLE....instead the Oilers spit in the face of reality and end up on the same skewed learning curve everyone else is on....when you consider the OIlershave had the opportunity to corner the market on the NHS but have instead spent a DECADE TRYING TO SINK AN UNSINKBLE SHIP.....the Oilers have actually already IMHO sacrificed MULTIPLE STANLEY CUPS to support ego driven vanity.

Connor...it would be nice to see you start to recieve passes then shoot the puck or mae your move immediatly instead of always ragging it around.....the last ten games or so you have been pissing away a lot of higher grade shooting opportunities to hold pucks and set others up..... there is nothing worse than seeing a wicked-deadly pass get wasted by some arsehole who decides to ride the puck instead of shooting it....I have counted 14 times you dropped the ball and forced things to a lower level by not finishing when you have been set up perfectly already ...intentionally.....all 3 guys on your line now can Pass and Shoot at a high level....no excuses for holding pucks Connor...none....so you better start shooting when you should shoot and passing when you should pass and stop being so selective...I want something to happen sooner when you have possesion....the sooner you get rid of it the sooner you can get it back and NHL Hokey is all about either SCORING or getting pucks back.....just 2 things Connor....and you better get used to the fact you are now playing with a passer who is a natural set-up man....and its really showing as a weakness in your Game....not a give-and-go Puck-Buddy either.....a Player who can and does consistently hit you with pucks and good solid passes from everywhere when even you arent ready .... all 3 of you are Riggers and Triggers....start to finish those nice passes like a Goal-Scoring Centerman does its beginning to look bad on you for not Capitalizing more....all that hard work is not done just to get you a free-ride its done to score goals and you my friend are passing up on to many opportunities so you must be afraid to take chances or unwilling to work harder to share the Glory....I am beginnigt to wonder about that question and have been since you and Nuge hooked up and I noticed a disturbing trend quite a few years ago.....its selfish to DOWNGRADE an opportunity so one can be a control freak and hold off for a Pass and then never have to answer for missing the shot.

Your best hockey of the Season and your most impactful Games were all POSSESION-PLUS GAMES....and Im not going to tell you what to do just point out what you have to find ways to do....OK.....WHEN YOU WERE RUNNING HIGH-OCTANE DURING YOUR HOT STREAK ..... you were at your best and so were your linemates....Jesse was busting pucks out everywhere in all zones allowing you to use your speed from all types of places and times....all you had to do to round that particular focus into Stanley Cup form was to do what you tried to do last night.....tried to do....you failed.....because Connor I wanted to see that high octane style AS THE BASE WE COULD BUILD OFF OF.....all we needed to do was have you shoot more when you recieved passes in the O-zone....EVERYTHING ELSE WAS PERFECT.....when Jesse is breaking pucks free and taking the body and cruising the Crease you SIMPLY need to take HIS PASSES from wherever they come from and get to work ASAP....your line was optimally evolving when everyones roles were simplified....when you were ripping in with pucks at will and creating immediatly and Jesse was coming in to work hard to recover pucks in the O-zone to let you re-set IMMEDIATLY.....never ever forget that a puck recovered in the O-zone is WORTH AN ENTIRE 200 FOOT SERIES OF TRANSITIONS AND PASSES AND WORK....which is why I say get to work ASAP in the O-zone because for your Team VOLUME POSSESION IS COMPLETE CONTROL.....you dont want to HANG ON TO PUCKS AND DEFINE POSSESION STYLE THAT WAY......you want a HIGH NUMBER OF ACTUAL POSSESIONS BY VOLUME....you are a guaranteed 1 possesion in the o-zone and Jesse is a guaranteed 2 possesions and good boardwork by Yammo or whoever will with reliable solid D-man pinches produce many times 3 Possesions in the O-zone...a recovered puck in the O-zone is NOT A CHANCE TO SLOW IT DOWN AND GET CONTROL its when you Quick-Strike immediatly from wherever you are.....you NEVER EVER DUST OFF recovered pucks in the O-zone or go for god dam scenic skates around the Zone with it.....you Q-U-I-C-K-S-T-R-I-K-E...OR SIT DOWN AND LET SOMEONE ELSE WHO FEELS URGENCY TO DO IT FOR YOU.

Connor now you understand that simply completing zone transitions then executing one single full playaction that results in a solid shot on net is nowhere near enough man.... lol ....lol....you did it over and over...and were stymied....but you did have a lot of really good opportunities no doubt about that....but you see Connor the Goalie was not hot at all nor that good really....he was simply paying attention like a good rookie and reading the playactions which were consistant and telegraphed...almost all of his saves were purely positional....he was always there early...as consistantly as you were executing the same playactions....he was not facing that 2nd and 3rd POSSESION IN THE O-ZONE IMMEDIATLY CONVERTED TO ATTACK....he was not forced to read-and-react on-the-fly because he was not facing 2-3x the volume of broken playactions coming back at him from within his own zone of hwich he has no time to read and react on positionally....

Connor I want you to be the triggerman more AND IMMEDIATLY when you recieve the first pass out of recoveries because everyone rightfully looks for you....we WANT THAT TO CONTINUE ....so in short from here till Playoffs follow this method.....play your high octane style....charge with it at your will that first entry and O-zone possesion is all yours...to delay on or to execute immediatly on-the-fly....you can pass every time out of that first O-zone possesion you create so well....BUT WHEN PUCKS ARE RECOVERED IN THE O-ZONE OFF OF THOSE INITIAL PLAYACTION ATTEMPTS.....WE MUST SEE THEM CONVERTED TO AN ATTACK IMMEDIATLY.....by everyone not just you....but ESPECIALLY FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE A BAD BAD HABIT OF ALWAYS RAGGING PUCKS AROUND like a Shark LOOKING FOR BETTER OPPORTUNITIES OUT OF THESE SITUATIONS instead of becoming a Baracudda and slashing in for the kill immediatly...if you follow my advice you will draw 3x as many LEGITIMATE PENALTIES.....no softies either....so no dust offs or delays or over-handeling the puck on recoveries in the O-zone....each of those recoveries is worth an entire POSSESION and is of GREAT VALUE TO THE TEAM....so much that when you lose it you immedialty lose production....respect what those puck-recoveries in their zone really represents....its 24 carat gold man....the entire Team needs to respect that....RNH has earned my respect above all Oilers for his dogged work recovering pucks for his entire career....when you really understand what a 2-way Player really does you realize its really being a Player and a HALF......its not just being a solid player....you create offense out of good defense...by recovering pucks in the right areas at the right times....RNH has run one of the NHLs Top 5 lines more than once in his career......look it up....you create offense out of good defense by RECOVERNG PUCKS in the right places at the right times then respecting the opportunity and finishing the playactions with Goals or additional recoveries that lead to Goals.

This is why they need to PM and get their business together Connor....you were willing to try....but you didnt understand exactly what I wanted....now you do....but had we been working together PreGame you would not have lost last night....you would have started the Game doing what I just explained and your Team would have overwhelmed them early and for 60 minutes...in some ways its almost what the Leafs did to you.

Connor....you and Leon were good to start the game with....but after 20 minutes you should have re-set to your high octane energy style with Jesse busting pucks and charging the crease....because that line simply gets so many recoveries in the o-zone and n-zone that it is DOMINATING AND SUFFOCATING....all that needs to be added is Connor McDavid to decide to win the Rocket Richard this year.....you get enough chances with Jesse on your line but you just did not understand how hard it is to finish off a playacton that is telegraphed and the Goalie is reading....that in most cases you ragging the puck just jacks up pressure on them and relieves it from you and doesnt produce better results for a plethora of just outlines reasons...capish ???

Sooooo....go back to that great high octane style....and simply respect those RECOVERED PUCKS because really they are ENTIRE 200 FOOT PLAYACTIONS that can be terminated with a Goal IMMEDIATLY.....destroy them off of hard work....those recoveries are HARD WORK.....and those DEFENSEMEN WHO ARE OR WERE ALSO SUPPORTING you when you were rolling need to be back doing it again.... I want that steady consistant dynamic reproduced to use as our BASE FOCUS....because of what it lets you produce when you add just the right ingredients and hard work.

Dave...they are going to beat you relentlessly.....it will get much much worse....you better tell your guys to arm themselves before guys start getting hurt.....find a mismatch and beat someon up....the Flames plan of just runing you out of the Arena by beating you up is working....if it works for the Flames it will work for everyone.
