The Suspicious Death of MI6 Agent Gareth Williams..

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that he was murdered, death by misadventure, however convenient for some, could not seriously be considered as a likely explanation. Besides, I don't buy into the kinkiness, it doesn't sit right. And even if, and it is a big 'if' that was a factor, I believe that it has been blown up out of all proportion as an act of subterfuge, and is, to all intents and purposes irrelevent to his murder.

Williams was employed by MI5 and on secondment to MI6. He has developed and implemented specialist tracking software for the NSA, and in 2003 had been deployed to work at Fort Meade installing those programmes designed to track emails and phonecalls aimed at uncovering Russian sleeper cells, including the Anna Chapman cell. His family reported that he had taken 'holidays' on more than this one occasion to the US, and prior to his death he was understood, it was reported by the Guardian, to be developing software to monitor communications on foreign embassies. I am sure I also recall reading that he was working on other projects aimed at uncovering hidden financial assets...but I'd need to check that.

He was by all accounts a highly gifted programmer who was recruited directly from university, and that MI5 approached him, his professor believes that they identified him through his online gaming activities. It seems unlikely to me, that someone so talented, and so very aware of the sacrifices that SIS work involves personally, would make the error of allowing his personal proclivities to compromise his professional residence.

Very interesting RA. I'd like to take this in a somewhat different direction. Days before he was killed he was in the US. Is that correct? What if he was doing some nosing around for MI6 and found out something he wasn't supposed to? The US alphabet agencies are quite good at covering up the murders they commit and even placing evidence to indicate that somebody else was responsible. They are also good at disappearing evidence. Even though we are allies, I'm quite sure we still spy on each other.

I also wonder what was on the memory cards they found. I feel sure that the clean cellphones had something that was not supposed to be seen . My first thought was pictures.Personally I don't know anybody that empties their phone regularly. And it would seem to have been done after he got back from the US. Most curious.

I don't think that we will ever know the truth about this case.

I would like to repost something i wrote on a thread on this subject from a couple of days ago :

Im not going to point my finger at any one country without any evidence but i think that he may have been killed by a foreign intelligence agency. I get the feeling that someone was tapping him for info and then he either found out or didn't want to play along any more. That would make sense for the killing because they didn't want the UK SIS you realize there had been a leak. If a foreign intelligence agency had been involved then they could have cleaned up the place to not leave any trace of intruders. This would also explain the presence of the 9 memory sticks that were found. It would also make sense that the UK SIS would not want to reveal there had been an intelligence breach.

I'm still not 100% sure why they would have to take the body rather than just make it look like a suicide. But if they had used chemicals / drugs, or left marks on the body that would suggest he had been obviously murdered then it would make sense to try to dispose of it so that the UK SIS dont have any clues to any foreign spy activity. I think the body was meant to have been removed but something went wrong. Dont forget its much hard for a foreign spy / hit team to operate in another country than the countries own SIS. I believe that if MI6 or "the Increment" had done it they wouldn't have had the slightest problem getting the body out of the flat and covering up the whole episode.

Williams was murdered. The reason being he wanted "out" of something so top secret, no one ever gets out alive. He probably didn´t believe the rumours about such top secret stuff existing, and certainly didn´t believe his "new friends" when they warned him about it. He just wanted to go "back home" to his old place and friends, with no intention to leak information to anyone about what he was doing. But they didn´t KNOW this, this was too secret to risk AT ANY COST that it leaked, he simply had to be eliminated. The two people that killed him, the man and the mediterranean woman, where two of these "friends" that had warned him previously. It just so happened they got the assignment to kill him as well. That is why no one reported his death or even him missing: Someone was covering for his absence with some excuse of him being sick, to people not "in the know" even at work.

The substance was indeed put there to aid the decomposition process, as was the apartment heating. They knew if they could just keep the people at work ignoring his absence for a week, all evidence of him being posoned and how he dies would have decomposed.They knew he was a loner and that no one else would visit him to find out in this time. They knew him well. Because they had him under surveillance for some time already.

Don´t get your hopes up about anyone from from MI6 assisting with this one, they knew if they did, they would end up the same. But they probably all know more than most people realize...

But what the real quesion is, what did he work on? And what did he know?

This is what we should be focusing on at somewhere called ABOVE TOP SECRET.

I think he was either a cross-dresser or into S&M and he picked the wrong person. That person got mad and killed him or, in the case of the S&M, the game went too far and he ended up dead.

I think he was murdered I also think the manner in which the crime scene and the way his body was stowed was to send a message through unofficial channels. For example the people that killed him knew that this was going to get massive news coverage, what is the significance of the red bag perhaps we will never know for sure but I have a feeling it was to send a message to someone

Fascinating case and great thread RA! I'm not through going through the materials you presented, but I have one question already gnawing at me.

Why is this fluid he was reportedly found in "mysterious?" I find it incredulous that a police officer could report such a finding, and yet there would be no forensic samples taken with exhaustive tests run. A quick read through the source of that report seemed to completely leave the question of why this wasn't done unanswered. And I would think that if indeed he was "submerged" that residue of this fluid would be relatively easy to find. Has your research yielded any specifics regarding the apparent lack of forensic testing on this reported fluid?

Pardon the question if it has been addressed elsewhere in the thread as I'm still going through it. But I had to ask.

I like starting with spy mysteries believing that everything that Wiliams says about himself is a lie. He didn't get into secretive positions by telling everybody the truth. He was a nerd and a cryptoanalyst hyperachiever. He reminds me of that other straight-A boy in one of my elementary school classes, the quiet skinny clean slightly nerdy one on the bike, most likely a JW or a Mormon, a Mr. Rogers type that works at JPL, if he could get past the haters and the pig-bosses. So automatically I'm going to say he wasn't English at all, and his sister is not really his sister, that this is a fabricated story to cover up the truth, right?

The story is presented to suspect he was possibly gay, and it was only for pretend to make more money. That does not add up, but have these nice sample-size clothes that only fit on emaciated models. These guys who think like computers, they systematically go through every conceivable position, as a test of their mind-over-matter power. And you are going to listen to possibly fake sisters who say nothing happened, or are you going to look at the doll-colored wig and the clothes that look like they could fit a young child?

In these spy games, these agents go into the underworld of crime. Drugs, human trafficking, weapons, computer chips, organs, you name it, they'll process it.

So what sort of thing is not going being mentioned that got the man-in-a-bag? Doll-colored wig... Real Doll? No people, but maybe a mannequin with a moving mandible?

Stupid aside, you know those portable handheld oxygen tanks with the gas masks on them? Add some toxic gas, a few latex gloves for the murderers, a copy of the door key, obtained however you can imagine...from his sister even. The guys go through the roof, (it is an escapable flat, this man is not going to go without 3 escape routes), pretend they are janitors, electricians, ...exterminators... and that's the end.

You have presented this mystery in very distinct fashion, just finished reading through it all - all very mysterious... i would love to know to outcome of this case. My thoughts are with his family.

Personally, this all looks a bit too squeaky clean for your average Joe to pull off something of this caliber.

So it's either the MI6 themselves, or other secretive government coalitions.

Great thread RA - drew me in and fascinated throughout. Much more the reason ATS was created than the ''OMG the galactic federation of light wants to warn us about the reptilians!!'' type nonsense that tends to fill the boards.

Poor bloke - seems he was caught up in something bigger than his own sleepy-town ambitions, and ultimately paid a high price for getting on the wrong side of a conspiracy that will never see the light of day.

Also interesting to note the point about 'smear-tactics' relating to the deaths of so many secret service types; a pattern seems to be obvious, disinform, distract and detract. MI6 may even have been 'forced' to cover this up in order to keep their house in order.

The secret is not really a secret. Any bets it is as regard to the truth about 9/11 ? Having to do with levitation. Levitation being something which I have witnessed personally such that no one can tell me that such technology does not exist. Also to do with ABW "Atomization Beam Weapons" as used in the armoury of super sonic aircraft where bullets or missiles are not possible due to the super sonic velocity of the aircrafts motion. Recently a super sonic interception occurred here in the UK, where a rogue helicopter was eliminated using such ABW. No wreckage and no dead pilot, just ash and vapours blowing away in the wind. The incident was very noisy so questions had to be given answers. It was ABW that destroyed the twin towers on 9/11. Did he know about the extremely secret space programme being conducted by the Royal Navy ? Did he know about the research into transdimensionality ? very interesting read, though some could honestly be chalked up to being random happenstance, I find it absurd to think that almost all of these men would have the same taste in bondage and auto eroticasphyxiation (or however you spell it... lol) . This could be the mark of a professional hit man or cleaner squad inside MI6 or working as an outside contractor for multiple agencies.


Not to disrespect the dead but this does have all the makings of a good movie all we need now is to insert the hero who uncovers the plot to kill and discredit these men. Possibly that was what Gareth was up to when his plug was pulled.

This case keeps getting more interesting as I dive into it Thank you every one for your information a double thanks to you RA for getting this info back out there and in a manner that doesn’t come across as a crazy conspiracy nut but as an intelligent person looking at the mystery as a whole.

I have a good friend who works for GCHQ and no matter how many times I ask for hints or clues he won't divulge a drop.

The only clue I have managed to piece together from this is why did it take MI6 so long to report the incident to the police? Enough time to murder and cleanup. This was a professional hit in my view and he was dead in the first few days. Crime scenes are usually always cleaned up after a pro hit. Think of reasons why you would pay to have someone whacked?

Drugs, Gambling Debt, Infidelity.

It's nothing to do with his work as he would guard that most closely to his chest.
