No it wasn't a typo. It's just a little pun I came up with. It's not a reference to being a hippy though, just being hip.

Funny note: hippy wasn't recognized by my spellchecker.

What does Christianity have to do with a greed based monetary system? Why else do you think people are indoctrinated with fear that if they don't uphold the Christian perspective of the universe, that they will go to hell and suffer for all eternity? This all has to do with retaining membership, breeding fanatics that go around spreading this crap, and thus bringing more tithes to the church.

Do we inspire fear?

Why are you even asking? You're a Christian aren't you? You should know better, how many times have you been told, or told others, that they will go to hell for all eternity if they don't believe in Christ? I can't imagine a fear worse than being afraid of being tortured and burned forever in the afterlife. Of course this inspires fear, if this variable were removed from Christianity there wouldn't be any Christians. Christians spread this religion because they live in fear that they will go to hell if they don't.

When was the last time that you heard of Christians carrying on with a beaheading or a bombing?

Do you know anything about the history of Christianity? It may surprise you to know your religion has a long, long history of bigotry, fanatacism, murder, torture and cruelty in the name of Jesus Christ.

And this is exactly why we can't be accepted into society, because evil people used the name of God for thier own selfish purposes hundreds of years ago?

We aren't here to spread hate and fear as you say. We are here because we respect the Creator. Thats what Christianity is about. Following God because we know that it is the purpose for existance.

Well, once again we have a thread that has devolved into a bunch of name calling with usual "I'm not being offensive you are" bullpatties.

Until you provide valid sources, that statement is no more than an unsubstantiated claim. Even with sources, it would still be completely "off topic".

I vote it gets shut down because nothing's going to be accomplished here.

I vote that your post gets removed for being completely "off topic". That said, do you have any evidence of anything ever being "accomplished here" at ATS. Perhaps you should start a thread on that topic.

There's a lot of hypocrisy on both sides and people don't have the right to not be offended.

I'm not sure what that comment is trying to convey, but it doesn't matter... Once again you are completely "off topic". Perhaps you should start a thread on "the right to not be offended", as well.

I'm incredibly frustrated with the stupid attitudes from both sides.

That seems like a personal problem to me. Why do you feel your frustration is our fault? Did anyone force you to read this topic?

Here's a hint: it shouldn't matter what anybody believes, it's none of your business, so STOP TRYING TO IMPOSE YOUR WILL UPON EVERYBODY ELSE!

Why are you trying to impose your will upon us? That makes it seem rather likely that you are a hypocrite. As I mentioned before, hypocrites annoy the hell out of me!

America was founded on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of hippyness, not conformity.

I feel that one of the biggest problems in America, since the 1960s', has actually been the pursuit of "hippyness". They tend to annoy the hell out of me too, but not near as much as hypocrites do. That also would be a good topic to discuss in another thread.

Back on topic:
You didn't read this thread, or even the article that we were discussing, did you? If you did, did you not know that Nova Scotia is in Canada? Are you even aware of what the topic is? This should help you catch up to us. Do you feel it was proper to have suspended the kid for wearing that shirt?

That goes for both atheists and Christians.

You're both full of farce.

I'm neither! Do you love me now?

See ya,
Milt

I'm learning a lot from Ben on how to turn a person's argument against them.

Thanks ben!

I love it when you're the great Christian defended against those awful Satanic child entrail eating atheist!

You Christians are the ones who took this off topic with your personal attacks and hypocritical criticisms of anybody who isn't Christian.

You're just another Christian bully like everybody else.

Addition to story.

The person in question seemed to be highlighted as a bigot. I'd have to say this would be skewed against a Christian, as popular Canadian news tends to be liberal leaning. Despite all this, it still is an exibition of restraint on Christian ideology and right to showing opinion/belief.

So it seems the young fella was not expelled just for wearing the T-Shirt he was expelled for preaching and threatening people with hell.
Then his Dad takes him outa school because they wanted him to go on a session for all students on how to express their beliefs in a way that is respectful to all.
Seems to me quite a lot of ATSers should go on one of those sessions

So now we have more facts about the story do we all still feel the same? I do and I said he should have been expelled and now Iam sure of it

Yep, the troll strikes with his usual bag of dirty tricks.

I'm learning a lot from Ben on how to turn a person's argument against them.

Here's another lesson:
That only works if the other person's argument isn't a valid one to begin with. Nonsense is easy to refute!

Thanks ben!

My name is really Milt, but anyway: You are VERY welcome!

An example for the above lesson:

I love it when you're the great Christian defended against those awful Satanic child entrail eating atheist!

You Christians are the ones who took this off topic with your personal attacks and hypocritical criticisms of anybody who isn't Christian.

You're just another Christian bully like everybody else.

Once again: I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN! That immediately makes ALL of your above comments NOTHING MORE THAN NONSENSE! You should get to know your adversary before making assertions such as those. If not, comments such as those CAN, and often WILL, end up biting you in the ass.

Do you SEE HOW WELL THAT WORKS? If you stopped posting nonsense, I wouldn't find it so damn easy to contradict you.

Something else that may help:
You should try to avoid using both of your favorite words: "stupid" and "troll". They are often a "dead give away" that one probably doesn't have a valid argument.

I'm always glad to help!

See ya,
Milt

PS:
I gave you a star for the great laugh. Thank YOU very much! Oh yeah... just so you know... I've given you and Annee a few stars because I actually agreed with some of comments you two have made. Don't tell her that though!

Well, thank you for the stars.

I consider you a troll because you use dirty tricks in order to turn a person's comments against them. And you think it works, but it doesn't really, and it shows how dishonest you really are since you continue to use them. I do know a few things about dishonest tricks in discussing a subject and can always spot them right off the bat. You've been using a lot of them. You often lie as well.

An example of this is in the other thread on Dan Savage when you said the video I posted didn't use any names. If you had actually seen that video you would've seen that they showed the names along with the a picture of that person who called in to rant about how homosexuals are ruining things.

You haven't been able to convince me that I'm wrong. And you never will.

If you were to actually use a little bit of reason and facts instead of constantly badgering me maybe I would have more to say about you than just calling you a troll.

Dishonesty doesn't work with me or anybody else except for stupid people.

Oh and I have already given my opinion on this subject. Look on page three.

See, this right here is how I knew you were mocking Christians in the other thread, and the others were having so much fun condemning you as they thought you were Christian defending the Church.

Didn't you also just say how you were learning how to turn people's arguments against them and how easy it was to do it? Yes, that is what you are doing and did on the other thread. Or you think you are, as you have less understanding of the true faith and view it through the dark glasses of an atheistic cynic.

Its like people don't even read the article properly.

Promoting one's religion is OK, but putting down others in the same time is NOT, which is what the T-shirt is doing.
"Your Life is Wasted without Jesus" > "Unless you are a christian, you would be dead"

If the pro-slogan people are OK with it, are you ok with a slogan with "Islam is the true religion" or "non believers of islam will be left to rot" imagine that slogan walking down school hallways.

Religion should not be taught in high school, college i don't care, they are old enough to see fact from fiction.
High school students are easily manipulated and religion would do whatever to take a stab at it.

If a religion is taught in school, it should be either called a Myth(see greek myth) or History(no longer used).

Which one would you like?

Since when is our country founded based on christianity? The founding fathers were deists, and Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were openly against christianity.

I think you misunderstand Adams. He may have disagreed with certain premises of orthodoxy, but that did not make him an atheist or against Christianity altogether. Why do atheists continually try to misrepresent him in their desire to turn this country away from the religious moorings of the early colonials?

Summary of Religious Views:
Adams was raised a Congregationalist, but ultimately rejected many fundamental doctrines of conventional Christianity, such as the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus, becoming a Unitarian. In his youth, Adams' father urged him to become a minister, but Adams refused, considering the practice of law to be a more noble calling. Although he once referred to himself as a "church going animal," Adams' view of religion overall was rather ambivalent: He recognized the abuses, large and small, that religious belief lends itself to, but he also believed that religion could be a force for good in individual lives and in society at large. His extensive reading (especially in the classics), led him to believe that this view applied not only to Christianity, but to all religions.
Adams was aware of (and wary of) the risks, such as persecution of minorities and the temptation to wage holy wars, that an established religion poses. Nonetheless, he believed that religion, by uniting and morally guiding the people, had a role in public life.

www.adherents.com...

I think people need to be more careful when characterizing the early Founding Fathers. Yes, many were deist Freemasons, and many were Protestant and various denominations.
The idea was freedom of religion, not freedom from it. The idea was to preserve freedom to worship as one likes and keep from having a State religion.
It's a fine line and it seems so many do not understand it.

Anyway the Founding Fathers have little if anything to do with what is happening in Australia. The atheist/secular/humanist movement is on the warpath everywhere they can get a foothold because they not only do not believe in the Creator, but they want to make sure that future generations do not believe either, and it makes them so angry to have to hear about the Creator.

In all honestly I don't care what brand of baloney you want to have on your t-shirt - go ahead and wear it. Christian, Hindu and even Islam - and I don't even like the last one.....but that is ok. Just because I don't like something I don't get all whiny about it. I just won't interact with that individual, hell - I might not like that person. But my jimmies won't get all rustled over it. I will move on and go about my day.

Religion isn't being taught at the school....some kids just wore a t-shirt that others didn't like and cried about it. The usual suspects jumped all over this because it was about Christianity, if it was a t-shirt about I love Homosexuality, I love Islam or whatever special interest group and some white Christian was offended by that - well bloody hell, they must be a racist.

Here is the thing, some of my ideas and thoughts "offend" others here on ATS (as a prior post stated) and that is ok - I don't exactly like some others ideas either, but I don't try to tell them they shouldn't think that way.

Except I wasn't mocking Christians, I was simply stating the truth of what they truly believe.

You Christians believe that you are so special special people who are immune to being criticized and offended. This thread proves it, because, you are whining and complaining about people criticizing you and saying that nobody should criticize you under any circumstance and that any and all criticism of Christians victimized and oppresses you. You guys really go off the deep end with Dan Savage and started insulting and berating him and anybody else who agreed with him in any way shape or form.

And you Christians never under any circumstances protest the real bullies among you, at least to my knowledge. A good example of this is when I posted that vid of the radio show and all those callers were going on ranting about homosexuals and how bad they are. You just whine and complain about others who protest and criticize you.

None of you Christians condemned it but instead tried to deflect, deny and attack it. Yet somebody like Dan Savage is critical, then you guys go off the deep end and insulting him, never addressing the valid points he brings up.

So you'll excuse me when I say i can't take you people seriously.

You guys truly do believe the things I posted. Until you start acting otherwise, you'll never change my mind on it.

And you people wonder why others are so hostile to you guys.

You bring it on yourself.

Let the turd flinging continue.

If you really want to have a discussion that gets anywhere you need to leave predjudices at the door and determine whether anything should be out lawed because it hurts somones feelings.

whether it be jesus, satan idiot read heads... the point is all you people willjust jump on your bandwagon based on what you hate instead of determining whether people should use majority rules to ban certain content or just accept it and deal with it.

“Among individuals as among nations, the respect to other people's rights is peace”
Benito Juarez

if you cannot learn to live with each others differences in a school setting how will you survive in the real world... the sad part is many people never grow up. I have seen people wear things i do not agree with but their right to wear that gives me the right to wear what i want to promote.

in the end most just want freedom for what they see fit and what they believe is true and dam everything else.
