Not only is she defacing currency, (a federal crime in and of itself) but, she is also bribing whoever she is giving that "gift" to. That wrapping paper has tangible value, and therefore is a bribe. Anyone she has given those gifts to should be in serious trouble.

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck... it's a duck.
So then:
If it's printed like wrapping paper, and is used like wrapping paper... it's wrapping paper.
The only "thing" giving our currency value is "trust." And that is waning.

It's the attitude they have - a lobbyist wrapping a bribe using actual currency for wrapping paper.

Where does the sickness end? Greed and corruption is ruining this country and they don't even try to hide it anymore.

I wonder if the notes say "Non-Negotiable" on them or else why would rolls be sold like that? They need to be cut, people can use it for wall paper if they get a few rolls etc.

Cant see this being looked at as a bribe since the total in money was under $8.00.

If you give someone a fancy Latte (coffee) is this a bribe?

i'm sad. i'm angry. WTH? she sees no problem with it. it's NORMAL for her. no wonder rich people are afraid of poor people. it's like wagging a steak in front of a starving wolf. I wonder if i went to the bureau of engraving and asked by buy a roll of ones if they would sell it to me. i'm guessing no. and these are gifts for our politicians.

i'm interested to check out the series "powerhouse" to see how the most influential people in washington are living. i'm not going to though because i'm afraid if i do i will have a stroke. it is so wrong that the lobbyists can live this way when they are literally denying the people's right to be represented by the politicians that they elected. these are the most evil people today.

Am i the only one not pissed?

Everyone here is raging about her not donating to charity. I would suggest your hypocrites. Do you smoke? Drink? Spend money frivilously on things that do nothing to improve your life? Yeah, almost all of us do, unless your a quaker or Amish.

So, i ask you. Next time you get drunk, use that money and donate it to charity. Next time you buy a pack of smokes, donate. Going to spend $1000 on that new LCD 3D tv? Donate it instead, you dont need more than your old 32". Buying a gold ring or chain for yourself or your wife? Yep, dontate it. Our materialistic society has made people outraged at her actions, yet people do the same as her, just in a different manner.

I donate about 1/3 of my salary to charity every year, which I'll assure you still isn't much, but I'm still pissed and disgusted at this flaunting of wealth. These people are tactless.

Technically cutting up money is illegal. If I cut up a flag and use it for rags it isnt your money either.

In the long run neither of those things would matter to me anyway. I don't do either, but neither should be a crime. No one is harmed by either of those actions.

Clearly you're not looking at the big picture that she is a lobbyist

Very noble of you, bravo!

And yes, i agree it is tactless and crass in the extreme. Not sure I have a huge problem with it though. And not all lobbyists are bad. The things i lobby for imo are very important things that would benefit average taxpaying Canadian.

If you give ANYTHING to someone in a position of power, in order to garner special treatment or special privileges, than it is a bribe, plain and simple.

Doesn't matter what commodity it is, it could even be a mere favor to put in a good word for someone.

Bribes can come in all shapes and sizes.

If you think that's bad you'd hate to know what I've done will bills

So she spent extra $$ on a sheet of dollar bills, who cares. It's her money and she can buy sheets of uncut bills is she wants too (at a higher cost of course). She essentially bought really expensive, and ugly, wrapping paper. www.moneyfactorystore.gov...

This is not a big deal in itself, but as far as lobbyists goes, well they can go to hell, most of them.

Honestly, why should I care? I suppose that you could argue that she's defacing money, assuming its real, but even if it is, she paid for it as she would pay for anything else. She can do whatever she wants with it, as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting... "there was another significance to gift wrapping. Unlike many other items, gift wrapping was spared the rules of rationing during World War II. It was believed that wrapping paper helped boost the morale of citizens and encouraged people to give more gifts to soldiers."

Perhaps the morale boosting, encouragement ideal behind using money as gift wrap is " We are getting stinking rich... keep up the good work!"

So its a morale booster, encouragement to continue in the manner they have been rather than a bribe... I am certain the bribes are much larger.

And technically, those who write the laws are free to break the laws, it was they who made them anyway, certainly laws do not apply to them!

Note: she works for TWG whose largest client they lobby for is Boeing (and they are getting stinking rich), other services provided by TWG include legislative tracking, crisis management, "creating and managing coalitions," "writing legislative and regulatory language," conference organizing, political positioning, "Grassroots/Grasstops," issue campaigns and advertising, and media tracking.

other clients include Bridgestone/Firestone (famous for its disintegrating tires), Kodak, Microsoft, and the E-Fairness Coalition, along with various governments of the world. TWG is owned by the PR firm Ketchum. Ketchum is, in turn, part of the communications conglomerate the Omnicom Group.

People like this make me sick. Didn't Senator Rick Santorum become a lobbyist after he lost his last re-election bid? Gingrich was lobbyist too. Now you know why people make a career in government. Lose your re-election bid and make even more money as a lobbyist.

Hell ya!

I think she should use it to pay someone to rig voting machines, not her fault
if some accepts the money...

Definitely the party of Christian values.

The meek will inherit nothing and the tax breaks shall go to the job creators.

Jesus would be so proud. Makes me feel all warm and pukey.
