It just makes it go deeper underground.

I really thought you were going somewhere else with this.

I guess my mind is in the gutter

Can we give bible thumpers their own state to live in please? Preferably far away from me? Let them have their own little theocracy state, so they can leave the rest of us the hell alone? Too much to ask?

That's what I was arguing a few pages back. I'm all for illegal stuff becoming...er, remaining illegal.

But the legal stuff, even if it's some kinky S&M, shouldn't be outlawed. That's all I was saying.

Well, if we are going to take Santorum's last name into consideration, maybe he will ban and make himself illegal.

David is a beautiful name, like the prophet.

Names aren't a coincidence, the Spanish word "santo" comes from the Latin word sanctus, meaning "holy."

Maybe no coincidence their pronunciation either, an example, Sandra Fluke.

Great how you call a scary, sick and twisted power-hungry man who embraces intolerance "holy".
Cheezus christ are you people sick in your minds.

You know what, I'm actually okay with hearing about someones religious beliefs - it's when they start trying to force them down my throat that I feel like maybe they should move to their own state.

I read through some of the replies on this thread and some are really pretty ridiculous. I'd venture to say that the same people pushing their "one true religion" on to everyone else would jump on board with that whole "separation of church and state" thing really quickly if the person trying to make rules had a different religious view.

For the record, I believe in God. I try to be really kind to people, and treat others the way I'd want to be treated. And I see porn as a pretty harmless thing for someone who doesn't have an addictive personality and can keep it under control. As I've said before, I think if someone is being abused in the porn industry, (or at any job for that matter) they should find another line of work. I also feel like sex wouldn't feel good if it weren't meant to be enjoyed.

I find it almost laughable how governments constantly try to control the internet. The internet is a force that is more powerful than any government, especially anon.

in November 2004, a panel of experts testified before a Senate subcommittee that a product which millions of Americans consume is dangerously addictive. They were talking about pornography.

The effects of porn on the brain were called "toxic" and compared to coc aine. One psychologist claimed "prolonged exposure to pornography stimulates a preference for depictions of group sex, sadomasochistic practices, and sexual contact with animals."

t used to be that if you wanted to see pornography, you had to go out and buy a magazine or rent a video. Store hours and available space under the mattress placed some limits on people's porn habits. Now there are an estimated 420 million adult web pages online. "For the person who has difficulty stopping, more is only one click away," says sex therapist Louanne Cole Weston, PhD.

420 million adult web pages 8 years ago!! men.webmd.com... On and on it goes!!

The needs of the addicts take over their lives.... If you don't think there's a problem just google internet porn problem... Deny Ignorance!!

I can only LOL at this for various reasons.

First, i am pretty confident that this is pure nonsense, i can say that from my own experience and and age that exposure to all kinds of "sick" porn does not "stimulate a preference for it" - this is just utter nonsense.

Even IF IT WERE THE CASE that people would all of a sudden develop a preference for "group sex, sadomasochistic practices etc." - where would be the problem?

I myself knew a bunch of people in my past who enjoyed that stuff (i don't, by the way)...but the interesting thing is that the above sentence implies it is something negative otherwise they would not "warn" about "group sex" or "sadomasochistic practices"....which shows a clear bias as if it's seen as something harmful/negative.

Short: If my neighbor would like to get whipped..i could really care less..and would not go around trying to outlaw S&M practices because HIS sexual preferences are not the same as mine are...but why are THOSE people feel the need to "warn" about those things and impose their views what is right/wrong/moral to others?

Secondly, you (US Americans) live in a society where people of all ages are stigmatized and declared as having some disorders, addiction etc..starting with little kids on hard drugs walking around like zombies because they have some "disorder". You know, each new "addiction" and each new meds prescription and therapy session is more $$$ for the people "treating" this "addiction" and selling meds for it. Pharma is a multi-billion dollar business and those people want to make money too, right?

So..no it's not a surprise that "porn" is called "addictive"..or reason and cause to bring on some "disorder" - LOL - or reason to buy more meds... instead of MAYBE seeing it from the simplest of all common denominators that guys are simply attracted to female bodies....or females are attracted to male bodies...sex etc...since it's one of the simplest and most "normal" human things on this planet - NO DISEASE, "ADDICTION" or ILLNESS but a frickin' very normal thing to have "an interest in"..to use that phrase.

Why would you want to waste perfectly good land like that? How about we give them Newt's moon colony instead?

Sure, I have spiritual beliefs as well, I just don't go around shoving them down other peoples throat. When having a conversation about politics, I don't bring it into the conversation, because it is irrelevant. Some people feel the need to quote the bible, no matter what the conversation, it gets annoying lol.

if porn is good for the economy then what about drugs?

That's not the topic here, I really don't care. This is about porn, not drugs. Plenty of other forums on the internet about discussing that issue.

Rick Santorum declares war on pornography: I will ban hardcore porn if I’m elected President

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," the former Pennsylvania senator writes. "It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

He demands a crackdown on the distribution of hardcore pornography on the Internet, in addition to material on cable/satellite TV, hotel/motel TV, retail shops and through the mail.

What qualifies as "hardcore" remains unclear.

Sour ce

The whole "What qualifies as""hardcore" remains unclear" has me flummoxed. Is there some social general consensus out there that I don't know about? Does anyone here know what is Officially "hardcore porn"? Or, are we stuck with Mr. Santorums definition? Which then begs the obvious question... How the hell was he able to come up with a consensus on what is hardcore and what is not? I'll bet he is an expert.

See, you got to set up a committee where a bunch of men sit in a room and watch every single video from every single porn, and surf the web all day and night to decide what is hard and what is not hard.
its a tough job...luckily it pays well..good benefits also.
It can be a work from home job though, so thats an added advantage.

I applied

I for one hope Santorum wins the GOP nomination. Obama will take it down anyway, might just as well have some fun on the way.

I also hope the first question during an Obama vs Santorum debate is: "How old do you believe the earth to be?"

It will be hilarious to see Santorum get ripped apart because on one hand he wants to appeal to his base and bis beliefs (6-10k years), on the other he realizes that the large majority of the population will believe he's bat# crazy if he says what he really thinks no matter how crazy...not that this stopped him before

The entire Colbert Report and Daily Show staff will high-five eachother if that clown wins
