Santorum jumps the shark. Pledges to make porn illegal

Thank you Santorum, for being so concerned about my privates and wanting to dictate to me what I can think of and view in the privacy of my own home.

Rick Santorum declares war on pornography: I will ban hardcore porn if I’m elected President

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," the former Pennsylvania senator writes. "It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

He demands a crackdown on the distribution of hardcore pornography on the Internet, in addition to material on cable/satellite TV, hotel/motel TV, retail shops and through the mail.

What qualifies as "hardcore" remains unclear.

First it was illegal porn, now its make all hardcore porn illegal, then you enforce it. shut off the net with any naughty bits showing, etc.

How is this guy basically the frontrunner for conservatives? Seriously...someone explain to me the thinking going on here for a fan of Santorum whom also has even a slight understanding of "life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness" Does that only apply if you have social conservative Amish style values, otherwise, too bad?

If Gingrich gets out of the race, and Santorum gets Newts numbers, Santorum will win the nomination.

We must somehow convince Newt to get out of the race..if only for sheer comedic value.

But, if Santorum does win the Rep nomination, does this mean the reps are defaulted into irrelevancy?
Hate to say it, but Thurstin Howell III is their only hope to..well, save face (not win the election, but not totally dismiss any serious consideration of the party as a whole)

Holy moley, that's a scary guy! I went to watch that video and saw a BUTTload of other Santorum videos that I hadn't seen. I'm starting to think TPTB are keeping him in the race just to scare us into voting for Romney--and Romney already had me scared!

If he was only concerned about cracking down on child pornography and violent S&M, I'd be OK with this. ALL porn? I don't think that's a very good idea at all.

Santorum's entire campaign has been one long shark-jumping extravaganza, this is hardly the first time he's jumped it. We are talking about the guy who said that if his daughter was involuntarily impregnated (that's the nicest way to say it) he would tell her that the child was a GIFT FROM GOD and force her to carry it to term and give birth to it! We're talking about the guy who conforms LITERALLY to an every-sperm-is-sacred policy and believes that contraception is IMMORAL. Yes that's right, to him having safe responsible sex is the EVIL thing to do.

Honestly my brain hurts just thinking about it. Either the people voting for this guy are entirely ignorant of his positions and policies or my fellow Americans are more misinformed, bigoted, and stupid than I could have possibly ever imagined.

The fact that he's still in this race, that Romney hasn't totally crushed him, is absolutely astounding. An Obama reelection is hardly the ideal choice for 2012 but at least Obama is intelligent and sane enough to make a case for himself, whereas every time I hear Santorum open his mouth it's just a lot of verbal, well, verbal Santorum.

Excuse me but wasn't it heavy metal a couple of weeks ago? Now pr0n? Someone needs to sit him down for an hour and explain the 1st Amendment to him. The sad fact is that some will vote for him because they aren't aware of that. Doesn't matter anyway. Romney is still comfortably in the lead and watch where his #'s go when the vote goes back north.

Porn is a lucrative business that turns people into meat to be sold in the market, and those who pay for it, and get paid to do it are nothing but people who turn themselves into sellable meat products.

That being said, making it illegal isn't going to stop it, if he thinks he can just put a lid on it like a can of worms, he's absolutely delusional. People should chose to see the ethical wrongs in portraying humans like meat products and leave it alone by themselves. You can't teach it to them by putting laws against it.

How about...whatever consenting adults do, is legal. be it soft kissing techniques, or the most violent and vile sadistic videos imaginable...if its consensual, its not your business, my business, etc...

Yes, child porn is illegal. There should not be one child porn site up and running, but you know they're there. If they were serious about cracking down on it, they'd be arresting everybody, yet it goes on.

Regarding violent S&M, I'm talking about brutal stuff. Not your average whips and butt slaps. I'm talking about stuff that is seriously degrading to women.

I really don't care if you agree with my views or not. I'm a woman and I've never had a man complain while watching porn with me.

Santorum is SCARY... not that I believe he has a snow balls chance in _ e l l of being elected, but that there are people out there that support his insane, predjudiced and hypocritical beliefs.

Santorum won't become president because he's nuts, and Romney won't make it because even though Santorum's nuts, he still can't crush him. Newt won't be president because...well...he's Newt and couldn't get women votes. RP doesn't have the support of the GOP base and also won't make it.

In short, Obama will take this one down. It's just whether he'll have to work a bit for it (Romney), or not at all (Santorum). If Santorum runs against him, it will be like watching a months-long Colbert Report...awesome comedic value. Hell, I hope Santorum runs against him.
