For being the party of "freedom", the GOP sure wants to take away a lot of them.

He's definately lost any support I might have given him.

It's this attitude that's what's wrong with America today.

The attitude of "I know what's best for you and you don't" nonsense.

People have lost all interest in actual liberty.

Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness is what America is supposed to be about. Not "You must bow down to my moral imperative and conform to my morality" crap.

There's just too much of this crap attitude in America today. Everything has to be legislated and regulated and you have to have permission to do something.

Between the Dems and the Repugs there'll be no more liberty left at all in a few years.

I weep for this country.

Why can't people learn to stay out of other people's business and let them live their own lives as they see fit?

Fark you Rick Santrorum, anybody else who thinks they have to be in my business.

Sigh.

I hope Rick Santorum understands that this isn't the issue Americans care about at this time Oh and Eric of the restate claims that Santorum was only talking about child porn and not adult porn either Santorum sure has defenders

Heh

Yes, they really should make child porn illegal.
or..wait..it is illegal.
well, ok, they should enforce the law.
or..hmm..it is enforced.

Rick is talking about what he said, now they may be trying to do damage control in his name "oh, he was saying he will make illegal porn illegal..he likes being redundant".
I think even the pretty hard right see what a nut he is now that he is slipping and telling people his true aim and desires.

Tomorrow he will say he will ban alcohol and nightclubs due to it being unhealthy for americans. his staffers will say he meant crack and crack houses...

Its comical really.
So, who is the viable conservative candidate? moonbase gingrich?

I hope you say the same about the liberal Nanny State who thinks it's their business to control what our children eat and replace Mom's homemade lunch with McDonald's pressed chicken parts nuggets.

Santorum is for a small government, but:

- Wants to regulate your sexual habits.
- Wants to regulate what you do in your own house.
- Wants to decide what you get to watch and what not.
- Spits on the constitution because he wants to break down the separation of church and state.

So every time you are making love to your wife, think about having Santorum at the end of your bed, staring you down

Actually, Santorum is not for small government
He speaks out against those "RHINOs" whom are for a small government

bunch of liberal anarchists.

He believes government has a place in your bedroom, in your religion, etc...not some hyperbole on my behalf, he literally said that (along with telling those cons arguing for a small government to go vote for Ron Paul).

I will fish up the video if you would like to see it (haven't seen it before).
I personally see the republicans splitting into 3 different parties actually
The uber Religocons, the Corporacons, and the Libertaricons.
Who knows...that might be the saving grace of their party should they fracture and dismiss the outdated elements. What Rickbo is doing may in fact be a good thing for their party...well, the destruction of the party into actual coherent movements working independently.
Dems also need to break up into 2 parties..Obama is not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination to anyone whom actually is a liberal..so a lib sending him to the office is simply disappointed.

Would be nice to have a 5 way election

I completely agree with you that CP should be cracked down upon in the harshest way possible. But even the most violent, degrading and brutal S&M still has consenting adults. The women who are degraded in those films allow themselves to be for some cash. It sucks, but it's not something government should try to control.

Regarding the OP, Santorum is indeed alienating a huge crowd of people and because of it Romney may get the nomination for the Reps. I do agree that it would be a comedy show to see Santorum in the debates though. He'd get my vote just to see that in action.

Does God require a government to enforce his will?
What does that say about the strength of God, if legislation is required?

In 50 years, America may be an Islamic country.
Will you be so keen on the religious majority pushing legislation to enforce their concepts of morality?
Better start brushing up on your Koran, don'tcha think?

The majority of Americans are pushing back hard against the nanny state.

We keep hearing the same response : That is none of your business!

Stop peeking inside my childs lunch box.

And what is it with this phrase "x jumps the shark" anyway?

What the heck does it mean?

And why is it only conservatives can ride the shark and not liberals? Why is it when obama does something unpopular he never jumps the shark?

Maybe it should be better phrased as "humps the shark"?

As in "Obama humps the shark"?

Sounds like he was groomed for the Presidency.

Sounds like he was groomed for an inquisition.

It's in refrence to when Fonzy jumped the shark in the t.v. show "Happy Days". After that, it went from being a mildly believable family comedy/drama of moral principals to...well, the ridiculous. So when someone says Santorum jumped the shark, it means his campaign has gone from believable attempt to become POTUS to...well, ridiculous.

Thanks for responding, but I still don't understand why everything needs to be part of the internet. Sure, some people enjoy watching some pretty warped stuff, so why can't they just go to a store and purchase it?

People will argue that it's their freedom of speech to produce really violent sex, so how is it limiting their ability to do what they want if they have to sell it in DVD/BluRay form?

I also have my doubts that this kind of porn is all about money. I've seen some really disgusting stuff where it's apparent that the women involved are most likely getting paid with drugs as well. Sometimes getting your fix is more important than lining your pockets with Presidents.

As if the GOP's stand on women's reproductive habits isn't intrusive enough now they're going after our male counterparts. When women take a stand against religious zealots telling us what we can/cannot do with our bodies we're called sluts. It will be interesting to see how males respond to the prospects of having one of their favorite things taken away. I wonder how religious conservatives will label porn loving men?

Who knows maybe these idiots will bring men/women together once and for all telling government to stay the hell out of our bedrooms!

I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 35 years now. He knows what he likes/doesn't like porn hasn't turned him into a raping pillaging monster. He's the same gentle loving husband/father I married all those years ago. How we've made our marriage work is nobodies damn business!

I agree, if we wish to argue porn is addictive, which I agree it is as I'm probably addicted myself and just don't realise it...

I think things in the animal kingdom are programmed to enjoy the act of procreation, thinking about it, seeing it, etc. I don't buy the whole porn addiction thing. There are times in my life I will watch way too much for extended periods of time, and other times where I won't watch any for extended periods...I never had the shakes or anything in my off times.
I think the psychological field is promoting a gimmick perhaps. People whom have no desire considering/participating/viewing reproduction are going against their natural base instincts..not that that makes em a freak or something...just willpower over a natural desire.

Then we can say that the internet in general is addictive, so ban it.

Video games are highly addictive(maybe just to me), ban them.

Yes, and also incredibly violent....addictive and violent.
But...violence is probably good in this guys mind..

Actually, that will probably be the next segment of population he will alienate...try to ban all media forms of graphic violence because..you know...god and stuff...hates the PS3.

I guess if a person did want to watch that kind of porn, then having to go to a store to purchase it could limit their ability to view it. We're pretty invasive as a society and enjoy talking about who's doing what and why. Maybe they're a senator who enjoys a raunchy romp with a twisted S&M every now and then, but wouldn't want to go out to get it for fear of the person selling/renting it to them blabbing.

Nah, really though I think it's just a matter of convenience. Having it on hand any time the need arises is probably something they enjoy. Also, principal. The fact that someone else is telling us what we can and cannot watch, when it is legal, really grinds peoples gears. And it should.

As far as the women that are pretty obviously drug addicts and you can assume that's the way they're getting paid, that's probably true. But the problem then is drug addiction, not porn. And that's a whole 'nother battle.

How more obvious can it be that Obama has already been decided the winner of the 2012 race? I mean seriously. Short of Paul, who doesn't stand a chance in hell (because he isn't part of the in-crowd), the rest of the GOP runners are literal nightmare candidates.

Only the good stuff is.

but if we go down that road what's the difference between that and Michelle O telling us we can't be over a certain BFI?

I think there is a significant difference from a POTUS wanting to ban hard porn verses a first lady suggesting people stop being tubs of lard and eat a freaking carrot now and again.

I don't mind a politician suggesting we not watch porn...or play violeng video games, or curse, or etc etc etc...hell, one could argue its their place to try and be a more moral person than the average schlum...but when they say they will put pen to paper and enforce their morality on their neighbor..well, thats the very clear line.
