Just came across this nice little blog that sums up what's going on.

Today my feed has EXPLODED with this Kony 2012 stuff. Who is Kony? He’s a murderer that runs an organization in Africa, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), which kidnaps kids and kills people. The response to this is that we should fight back against him and help save Uganda from the child kidnapper and family murderer. Here’s how to stop him: all you have to do is just donate a few dollars to… Wait a minute!

It seems like there are more and more people waking up to this rubbish.

Invisible Children And Kony 2012 Exposed Today my feed has EXPLODED with this Kony 2012 stuff. How the hell are people smart enough to avoid a Craigslist scam asking to help a Nigerian Prince recover his riches, but someone makes a thirty minute high-production video on YouTube and suddenly: SEND ALL THE MONEY! Immediately a few red flags came up on Kony 2012 and most of them were solved in just a few minutes of Google searching and digging. Is Joseph Kony Even In Uganda? Nope. Uganda is in a phase of rebuilding. The Kony 2012 video and Invisible Children make it seem that Joseph Kony is a monster ravaging through Northern Uganda as if he were Godzilla stomping through Tokyo. However, a quick fact check has pointed me to this: On July 8th, 2005, the International Criminal Court (ICC) named Joseph Kony the number one criminal in the world because of his crimes in Uganda. Shortly after the ICC indicted Kony, he fled Uganda and officially has been in hiding since 2006 (Source). Basically, he has since been hiding in a hole like Saddam Hussein and has approximately as much power as Saddam Hussein had while he was living in his hole, next to none. Hold that thought for later.

I understand your position from your quotes. Why are you coming across so belligerent to other posters though?

Not one here that I have read has suggested that Kony should not be taken down. They have simply stated that it is a far greater travesty that ANYONE ride this scumbag's coat tails into an armed conflict and occupation of the African continent

What I, along with other posters, am trying to do is trying to stop the sickest of travesties, our government and military industrial complex using this sick bas$#@d Kony to their advantage.

Anyway, I hope you can see this at some point and stop yelling.

Namaste.

A Psy-Ops operation? No...I don't think so. Kony is quite clearly an evil man that needs to be stopped.....I don't see anyone arguing that fact. Now is this 'Invisible Children' movement being shady, and making more of a profit off of this than they should? That's certainly possible. None the less I see nothing wrong with shining some light on the whole Kony thing....I'm not quite sure how this would be a Psy-Ops, or somehow related to the 'Illuminati'. So what if they are using pop-culture icons to spread the message? Isn't that what you'd do if you wanted to reach a large audience? I have a feeling that if the Internet was around during the 40's people would be saying the same things about groups trying to get out the message that Hitler was a bad guy! LOL!

Why is it that whenever someone has a decent and good message, people jump on it and try to make a conspiracy about it?

I completely agree. I as well went to bed last night and had never heard anything about this crisis in Uganda. I wake up and its everywhere. Over 30 of my facebook friends have reposted the video and everyone seems to know about it

I just find it really hard to wrap my head around the fact that these Invisible Children people could have spread awareness so fast. The original video that was posted on March 5, two days ago, already has 11 and a half million views. About an hour and a half ago it had about 9 million. How??? If you look on Invisible Children's youtube channel, most of their videos have less than 10,000 views, which by youtube standards, isn't very much. How do they go in just two days from nearly nothing in the eyes of the public to huge? Did something particulr in this new video just strike a chord with people and spread really fast? why not any of the other videos? And why don't other videos similar to this go viral all the time? There's much more problems in the world besides Kony people are trying to raise awareness for with videos, yet not often do these videos go up in views so fast. I mean make a video about the NWO or something and it never spreads like wildfire lol

I completely agree with the cause of stopping Kony, but the whole Invisible Children thing... somethings just fishy... i feel like there's got to be some sort of ulterior motive

And if it is some sort of psy-op, it just goes to show how quickly and easily the powers that be can manipulate/influence the citizens of the world

We are not arguing simply because we all agree that he is a monster and should be taken out, but want to know what's truly behind the sudden viral surge in the media, and why this is a sudden excuse for another American military action.

We seek truth here, not comfortable feelings.

Everyone jumping on the kill Kony bandwagon right now, will be the same ones who look back on chasing down Saddam as a WTF were we thinking situation....

I do not know enough about Kony, who he is, where he is from, who he is friends with, who helps prop him up (or has in the past) etc, etc....to form a real opinion on any of this right now....but just seeing who it is that is offering "help" should be reason enough for any of us with half a brain to give pause, and take a step back from the rhetoric to try to find some truth....not just propaganda that is being given now for some ulterior motive (can almost gurantee it is an ulterior motive, not to help the children)

This is where Barrack Obama just a few months ago sent an elite squad of about 100 soldiers into a few months ago....I guess they have completed their objective to hold certain strategic grounds and wait for the cavalry that will soon be on its way once the American public is "outraged" enough to allow it

So all of a sudden, we send in around 100 advisors*, and its imperialist and an NWO plot. That deserves a massive facepalm. Most charities dont donate every single penny to their causes. The workers need to get paid(they have families), they do need to make films(to raise awareness), and they do need tickets/materials to directly help the people. How about you make your own charity, and instead of buying plane tickets, you should swim there. Sounds about right, no? The list of people they gave, are the most influential on the planet. There is no secret reason behind everything. Oh look I can make a swastika out of the buttons on my keyboard, so HP is definitely masonic. Get a grip. OH and you people are also forgetting that this cause was once rejected by the government.

Maybe you should tell in retaliation for the last raid on their camps they killed 1,000 villagers in reprisal. Then ask if they still think it's a good idea.

My suspicions were raised from all cute child images, the smiling "saved" African children, the absolutist language used - basically every trick up Madison Avenue's sleeve. This is slick, yuppie-style interventionist political propaganda. Probably too well done to be authentic about any of the details.

Reports have Kony's army at as few a couple of hundred to 15,000. Either way a country the size of Uganda should easily be able to field an army large enough to take them out within a few months. The question is why can't they (won't they) and why is international help being summoned to solve this internal problem?

ETA- As a charity the 3 filmmakers are paid about $80,000 each. Not getting rich by anyone's standards but somehow they have spent $750,000 on computer equipment?!?!
Creative bookkeeping methinks. Not how I would want my charity money spent
They've also acquired $7million in assets.

Final note: Uganda has been torn by civil war long before kony ever came along. The people of Northern Uganda have been left out of the political process for many years. They are also of a different tribe than those of Southern Uganda. What I'm saying is there a political context to this that exists regardless of Kony that is not being addressed.

Here we go with the "not everything is a conspiracy" BS.....enough with this.....I know 100 "advisors"' as you call them were sent in, and now all of a sudden this man Kony, who has been doing this for 40 years according to the media attention right now, is all of a suden enemy combatant number one.

EDIT: And the question I pose to you since you stated this is: Since the government turned down this cause before, but have now picked it up and want to actually do "something" about it.....What has changed from then til now? Did Kony just reach a number of children he has personally murdered in cold blood that is just unacceptable to the people in control over here.....or do you believe our representatives have all simultaneously grown conscious's?? Almost loled to the floor on that last one
Or like I said perhaps ulterior motives....

It's all just because everything from the charities, to the movie, to the politicians on capitol hill, just so happened to all agree at this point and juncture.....again this is all for the children, no ulterior motives possible right??

Do you really believe that the current media blitz against Kony, and Obamas interest in him a few months ago are not related in anyway? If so, please pass the kool-aid because I really need some down time from all this terrible rationalization, and reasoning I have been dealing with.

Sounds to me like you're doing a grand job at knocking Charities while you're looking for your hidden agenda.

I do have an agenda, and its called seeking truth

Yes there will be a hidden agenda there always is some fat arsed Politian ready to jump on the Band Wagon.
absolutely

Charities do vary some are genuine some are not but at the end of the day they pick up the tab where the governments of the world have left off. They'd rather spend our taxes of bailing out the banks and helping the Billionaires ooze in luxury than help their own kids and starving people let alone help those of other countries.
Charities are meant to be or a good cause, but I've seen the figures on these guys and 32% doesn't cut it. 32% aside, why do they support a militia that is responsible for crimes themselves? Why the censorship on their criticism?
Also a charity and government can potentially work hand in hand towards a greater goal, and that greater goal may not always serve the interests of their followers

NO, YOU SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING THIS VIDEO NOT HELPING TO PUT A STOP TO IT.
I'm only trying to inform everyone of the facts concerning the bigger picture here.

You don't ask a war criminal to take out another war criminal
You don't support one militia to take out another militia
You don't ask for military intervention to a fix an extremely complex conflict
If they intervene against Kony with the military they will kill children, they will kill innocents, it will be like vietnam again. There won't be a greater good out of it

It should be used as an example of people power - an example of how ordinary people throughout the world can come together - because if they don't God Help Us.
People power is a great tool. However it is a double-edged sword. There is the potential for people to be misled, and seek causes that do not serve their intentions, and may infact work against their intentions

You know, I have had this thought just circling in my mind and even though it sounds like a stretch I want to share it.

People have been talking about the possibility of another false flag for a while now...might this just be it?
Remember how the world world had its eye on 9/11 and its developpement when it happened?
Well now the whole world is watching this Kony guy. The US did seemingly try to resolve the situation before with minimal ressources to no avail a couple of times.

What could this organisation even through awarness and donation do to bring the man to justice?
Well now if you promote military action then....they say Kony is surrounded by an army of 30 000 kids (sounds like a well made up rounded number to me). Such a vast number of kids would seem hard to keep under control for one man, those kids were most likely brutalized, desensitized through sensless acts and live in fear....they are not just going to lay down and drop their weapons...Harming childrens to bring down one man isn't a call I would make, these kids probably still have family that cares for them.

Obviously TPTB are aware of the massive decline of people's trust in MSM over the last decade, so, it doesn't make it the premier choice of medium to pass around a message right?
People around the world have demonstrated their confidence over the internet and its undying novelty by protesting against ACTA/SOPA...whatever, you name it. Guess that makes it an obvious choice to spread said message.

Sadly, if I had to pick a new boogy man I would pick Kony as well....''Please someone think of the children''...right? well I agree. Always on the move and hard to pin point, just like old Osama Bin Laden, how convenient. There's a section in the documentary mentioning a pure class action James Bond scenario where they say a kid has ''escaped'' and came forth saying Kony is now aware of the movement and is changing his tactics..............but fails to mention is location or what was his last whereabouts?

Thinking about this whole ordeal and these ideas during the day has really torned me appart, because of this voice inside me saying...is this the day I fail as a Human Being...

But its also the same voice that keeps me going with these ideas and helped me write down my thoughts here...and I'm not going to stand for military action.

Thats my stand

P.S. Just a small spoonful of cookie dough to finish...Remember when the movie ''The Fourth Kind'' came out? Lots of people thought it was legit or wanted to think so...after all viral marketing campaign were put out for it...fake IDs and fake websites. Jason Rusell is a film student after all...

My god. Every single kid in America has something about Kony on their status..

My 19 year old son that is a freshman in college just walked into the living room and said something about this. I had never heard of Kony before and I read news from all over the world constantly! All I can say is that the world is coming apart at the seams. It is written and it shall be done. What a time we live in!

I think if some of you want to have a good argument, or simply a reasonable redirect for your children, take a look at this video about the tragic and appalling situation that babies and children of Iraq are suffering from US depleted uranian bombs, it gets so little attention but is something closer to home. Maybe talk to them about this? The criminals that called for this action live here and shape our policy, and you will be shaping a brainwashed mind into a free thinking aware mind.

I just feel that's a much better use of logic.
