Flares are possible.. if far away, and they misreported the time they saw them in the sky. If dropped from a plane, they would appear like they do here.. dropped in succession, the line of flares would 'slant' like that as they fell to the earth. However, if they did not misreport the sighting, don't see how they could be flares.

They said they thought it was far away. Picture a very large (or long) object with those lights. They not only appear slightly oval (i.e. as if they were being photographed from an angle), but picture a huge object indeed - the first two lights are further apart. The next two are closer. The next two closer yet. As if seeing them again, from an angle, and the ones closest together are the further away (object perspective). i.e. that is one huge "thing" those lights are attached to. Just speculation though.. I still feel there is probably a very mundane explanation for the lights.

I have seen this formation along with lights and objects moving in line without flashing lights and noise. This was in MidWest. I was surprised and curious at first until it made absolute sense. THey were very slowly moving in a proper formation and line without any noise. I think they were UAV's of small scale to be used (possibly the ones authorized within the US) in the near future.

That was a thread from two years ago when I was green to ATS.You failed to mention I apologized on the first page for posting it and making the mistake it came from a known hoaxer. I admitted my mistake and it was done.
Wow ...what a hero , pulling a thread from two years ago and trying to relate it to my comments now. Dude you need to get a job seriously.I have grown since then and learned. You think because you have been here longer or have more stars and flags, you are somehow smarter than me? Is that how you think? You put me in my place because your goal is to be a moderator one day? Give me a break. You chastise me for creating a thread two years ago that was weak, yet you defend a thread that is just as weak as mine was? What am I missing here?
How many crappy UFO threads have I started since then sunshine? None.
So maybe you need to let the OP's defend their threads until you become the big ATS hero we all know you want to be then you can block my posts all you want. But until then I have a right to say whatever I want within the T&C and make any comment regarding any thread.
So why don't you stop trying to be some kind of super hero and let me give my opinion on whatever I want.
If you have some new evidence to support this thread that I haven't seen yet then by all means enlighten us please, otherwise mind your own business and don't tell me what I can and can't have opinions on.

You havent seen any evidence? Many military witness reports, a picture, and even the fact that they asked "What was on the radar" isnt enough for you? IF you deny that evidence then you expose your agenda to somehow be noticed by being an a$$hole that cant even LOOK at the evidence and accept it even though its right in front of you.. People like you make me sick of the UFO forum.. Just bring it off of the threads topic and purposly make off topic arguments to try and derail someone's thread... YOU need to get a job, you sound like a pissed off teenager.

Why post at all if you don't want a topic debated. There are as many views as there are
posts. No need to get all huffy, show your evidence and stand by it

Evidence?

Last I checked, this isn't a physorg physical sciences site where we publish proofs Q.E.D.

This is a conspiracy "THEORY" forum...

...but that's just the last time I checked.

I'd like to see one example of flares that blink on and off that get marines excited enough to pull ppl out of an office to check out. Now I don't know how high up these lights were but it begs the questions,
Flares for evasive counter measure I don't think so because the most effective enemy weapon would be a heat seeking high explosive dual purpose stinger ground to air missle which probably would not hit a plane that high as if it were a helicopter the flare pattern more than likely be a splash patter from the sides and since this is not the case why if signal flares do we not see the bird as it would give the enemy a direct path and flight direction not good if u r trying to do recon. Next if it were ground to air flares with a mortar or artillery trying to illuminate a grid for grunts 7 lights would not reappear in the same place.

Looks like lights on the side of a mountain to me. The witnesses said that they didn't move, so that pretty much rules out "flying objects".

I think marines know the difference between a mountain and the sky in their battle space and AOR

Oh I'm quite sure Marines do, but these photos weren't taken by Marines. I'm also quite sure that there were a variety of different recording devices on that base that could've provided much better evidence than just a couple of crappy photos.

I agree with that and no one can b sure of anything on a single photo and all but I can't say I believe whatever that photo is of I don't believe it's lights on a mountain either is all

I'm just saying lights on the side of a mountain because there have been quite a few similar photos and even video footage that turned out to be just that. To each his own though

Meh im not raging I really dont like the idea of buying MUFON it's quite simple... for one i don't trust bigelow for a variety of reasons and that is not the conspiracy theorist in me speaking . Besides the idea that this gives bigelow the power to control information only for self gain . The fact that MUFON has been corporatised undermines the soul purpose imho.

Some threads addressing the issue.

Ruthless businessman, hes another Mitt Romney a real scum bag
www.ufoupdateslist.com...

ut here we have the MUFON Board of Directors nakedly SELLING the entire capability of our organization to a ruthless businessman who had NO respect for MUFON's Mission of reporting UFO information to Members and the public. The entirety of CMS was put at his disposal, and our idealistic MUFON investigators were turned into employees. In order to live up to the demanding terms of the contract, a draconic regime of secrecy and conformity was imposed on Mufon-and it is still with us today.

Not one thing about aliens.Just some lights in the sky. Could be anything.Fail.
Gotta love those misleading headlines.

You, Sir, is what is called a Troll! Simple and straight forward. The headline is perfectly fine it is your comprehension of the title that is a "fail".

Now, perhaps you would be better suited to adding value in the thread?

This kinda looks like the geosynchronous communications satellite orbital track. You can actually see them up there twinkling sometimes if the earth and sun are in the correct position to bounce a reflection and there isn't much light pollution.

Ive actually seen this myself in Eastern Africa. I know they were satellites because I was pointing an antenna at one of them.

That said, I have NO IDEA if the conditions over Afghanistan would ever support them being visible as I was basically on the equator. Also, I have no idea what the orbital inclination for them looks like from the ground in central Asia.

I would be more apt to say satellites than a mountain because I've seen a similar thing looking through a set of AN PVS-14 night vision device but since I have no pix grid coordinates or video to compare I leave it in my opinion bin. Where can I find a mountain pic like what u r talking about I'd be interested in seeing what you see

Please enlighten us with anything you can lend to the thread. All you've done is come on and rip me.You haven't contributed anything more than me.

Not as far as I am concerned I think he made some very valid points as to why YOURS, as well as everyone else that seemed to star your post (like 7) seems to be confused about with regards to the overall topic and true definition of what a U.F.O. is. So again I will echo his/her words and say that YES simply popping in and saying how another posters informative and enlightening post "fails miserably" when you have nothing of value to offer up. Sounds trollish IMO, but that's just me.

Trollish? You're still NOT TALKING ABOUT THE BLUE DOTS in the OP there friend...

As far as what this is...I don't know myself but I don't always need to comment immediately. Sometimes I don't have an idea what it might be...I AM THINKING...I read the OP (original post) look at the thing and get an idea if I can - and then part of the process is reading replies and think about those that I might consider serious or credible. ALL the possibilities, hypothesis and ideas are laid out. Sometimes it takes time for ideas and thoughts about WHAT IT IS to roll over each other and settle in.

Used to be you could bring interesting footage up and people would discuss it like adults. You didn't have some clown come in and make a few derogatory comments and leave as if now we should close the thread. I mean unless they were literally rocket scientists or like Phage or something so I take offense for the OP who deserves respect as well as people who take the subject seriously.

There are threads (such as this one) where the OP tells you right off the bat...I'm not sure if this is the right forum, the OP isn't sure themselves and are just trying to find out what this is...

and someone comes in and says in answer to them..." FAIL?"

It is sort of rude, unwarranted and without provocation. I think it is generally disruptive, and a couple others might think so too if I got those stars.

Thanks to the OP for posting. It takes some effort to bring this to the rest of us. Good job. I would however not use words in your title that might not have direct relationships to the content. If just to avoid hand-holds for trolls who even take a misspell as an excuse to silence. You can however say what you want if you wish. That is why such a place as ATS remains a free-zone for ideas, real news and intelligent discussion.

How many times does it have to be pointed out - ATS T&C states that when copying an article from another source THE HEADLINE MUST READ AS IT DOES EXACTLY IN THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE (written by the original author).

Thanks for your support,
peace

Now you trying to pin me down. And I can't say surely what these guys saw. Neither can you. Subjective at best.

No, we can't say - but we can say your theory of signal flares is a tough reach - unless it's characteristic for signal flares STAY IN PLACE and NOT FALL for over 45 minutes.

Just an observation - not taking a poke at you.

peace
