I must admit to being entirely ignorant about sports. But I don't care that I am. Sports have several purposes:The more we hate each other, the easier we are to control as a society. That's why sports - the idea of how important competing and winning are, rather - are beaten into kids' heads as early as possible. And if you suck at sports, everyone makes you feel inadequate, incompetent, and idiotic (sound familiar?). Organized sports are no less a control mechanism than organized religion, and no less destructive. They further enslave us all. Just boycott 'em. Your kids will be much better off. I mean, think about it, and be honest with yourself: what do you get out of watching a football game? Really?
- Making the various owners of various teams and some of the players ridiculously wealthy by convincing us to transfer our wealth to them.
- Dividing us even further along entirely-imaginary boundaries (like making Longhorns hate Aggies).
- Wasting our time.
- Inculcating the idea of "Win at all costs!" into people. You must crush anyone who disagrees with you; compromise is for wimps.

A growing body of psychology research shows that incompetence deprives people of the ability to recognize their own incompetence. To put it bluntly, dumb people are too dumb to know it. Similarly, unfunny people don't have a good enough sense of humor to tell.
This disconnect may be responsible for many of society's problems.

They are now at levels where they are no longer winning prizes, maybe just barely keeping their chins above water, maybe not even that good, but they did so well at simpler stuff that they - and their employers - thought they could manage this tougher position.
lol... and these scientists are lacking so much practical common sense they can't even see how freaking obvious that is so they do a research paper on it...
