i wonder what your reaction would be if you saw someone with the nickname neojihadist popped up and claimed that the history of christianity was full of violence (inquisition, witchhunt, salem hunt, etcettera etcettera etcettera).

i'd rather tell them bosses in the west to stop messing around with the middle east and afghanistan instead of blaming an entire religion.

Humans are naturally violent. The problem usbt religion, as most of the atheists here say. Yes, christians kill, muslims kill, everyone does. Atheists arent pure. Joseph Stalin was the biggest murderer in the history of mankind. Yea, worse than Hitler. So no, the problem isnt religion, the problem is humanity. As long as we live, there will always* be something to fight about. Sadly, its who we are. Get used to it.

The Muslim conquest of Spain began in 711 -400 years before the crusades.

Spain wasn't fully recovered from the Muslims until 1492 - long after the last crusade.

You probably know what kind of horror the Christians came up with during and after the reconquista? Not only did they kill or exile the muslims, they also considered the jews to be their mortal enemies because the muslims allowed jews to hold high ranking positions. The best way to describe Christian Spain in the middle ages is Hell on Earth. It's not like they created a Christian paradise where people lived in peace and freedom. It lead to Spain becoming much worse off, until they "discovered" the Americas and started stealing gold from there. But the Christians of Spain were so #ing dumb that even when they had all the gold in the world they couldn't manage it. Instead they destroyed their economy and instead of creating a thousand year old Empire it started crumbling just a century later. If they hadn't killed off most of the native Americans by war and disease they would've never held on to it as long as they did.

ETA: and why do we all have to lay claim to the violence? As I recall, if every muslim killed one person a day it would take like 3 days to kill everybody... I don't want ownership of said violence.

You see it only takes a few good people to remain silent for tyranny to survive. The fact the peaceful Muslims do not take a strong stance against senseless acts of violence tends to cause people to stereotype and group individuals together.
