First...Shouldn't you cite "MrConservative.com" Since you pulled 95% of your OP from there?
www.mrconservative.com...

Or simply link to the Republican Senate campaign site where most of these claims originate?
republican.senate.gov...

Secondly...the obvious...comparing first day in office until now completely ignores the fact that the economy was on a steep downward trajectory when he assumed office and it equally ignores the fact it is now recovering.

Lots of dishonesty in those numbers. How about comparing peaks to current numbers? As any economist or financial analyst might do when not caring about politics?

I remember the GOP spin when the recession began...they said the economy was just fine despite the numbers. It was politically convenient then with a GOP administration. Now the opposite is true and they will attempt to convince Americans we are not recovering...but the economy does not care what the GOP spins. Nor do most Americans.

don't ya just love how the thread got highjacked from being about obama to being about reps vs dems.

maybe we can stay on topic. the only thing i see improving is the level of deceit being pushed by Washington.

You do realize that the whole op was pulled from "MrConservative.com" and the Republican Senate Campaign website?

In order for this thread to be "hijacked" it would have had to not be Partisan BS to begin with.

I wouldn't visit the GOP Senate campaign website or "Mr.Conservative.com" blog to figure out how the economy is doing. Just silly. Of course they are going to deny reality as long as they can.

Error 1
You still believe the president is real

Error 2
There is a reason your economies will be destroyed because you think they can be improved.

Thanks for editing your OP to include the source.

It is clear political rhetoric and spin of the flavor..."the economy is not recovering!"

It is a luandry lsit of numbers full of dishonesty.

The first 88 Million number was pure nonsense as it is the number of folks over 16 years of age not working....as opposed to the claim that it is people that ceased looking for work. It includes a growing older population, it includes retired, it doesn't account for year over year population growth...It says "A record high" without acknowledging that number is always a record high as the population grows and people live longer.

Each one of your numbers fails the smell test and like I said, I'd expect the same when I click sources and get the GOP Senate campaign site...who fails to provide actual sources by the way...just silly nonsense.

We are recovering and the GOP can run on the premise we are not and see where that gets them.

I still remember when the GOP was claiming we were not going into a recession...now they are claiming we are not recovering...both for the purposes of politics.

Thankfully the economy doesn't care what the GOP thinks.

Was in the OP to begin with.

The edit was a change in the thread title.

And seriously all of these numbers are bull?

Not only do these numbers disagree with you, i think millions of Americans will as well.

I mean 15 trillion in debt is nuff said.

Provides us some statistics, articles or links that state the economy is proving.

Instead of your opinion only.

Not only is the us economy going down the drain.

Here in Europe as well.

We recently heard we're in a new recession. (Netherlands)

And the effects are noticeable, no denying that.

Cutting back on government spending, raised taces, slicing on pension payments and i could name 10 more

Maybe you don't follow the reports and stats closely for the USA there in the Netherlands, but this is a bit of a flat earth debate at this point. I could offer 100's of links to non-partisan analysts and economists.

You are half right...

We will have a slugish recovery here in the USA, but a recovery all the same. The European Debt Crisis will continue to cause problems overseas, which in part is what is hampering a quicker recovery here in the states, but we have crept past the danger zone for a second recession. The same can't be said for Europe.

I follow these things by neccessity.

The rest of us have just gotten useless rhetoric and huge Presidential vacation tabs.

So True,,,,, As the price for fuel as stayed above $3.00 a gallon for Obamas term, it is now climbing again, Who is Going On Vacation, Who Can Afford To Fill Their Tanks,,,,,,,,,,,,

But barely a month after returning from a luxury Christmas break in Hawaii Michelle Obama is on holiday again - this time at the exclusive Colorado ski resort of Aspen. It's her 16th holiday since her husband took office. Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk...

Michelle Obama That's Who,,, But Is She or The Obamas Paying That Fuel Fee? NO, We The Tax Payer Are!
Remember Last Year When You Where Asked By This POTUS Yes, Obama To Stay Home And Not Go On Vacation,,, Remember This Speech From Your Dear Leader:

And last year Mrs Obama took Sasha and Malia to Vail and Beaver Creek last Presidents' Day just days after the President tried to sell his cost-cutting budget to the American people by asking them to stay at home.

‘If you’re a family trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation,’ he said. Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk...

Sure, not really a problem.

The stock market is doing very well...a 60% gain under Obama.
www.huffingtonpost.com...

Existing Home sales are on the rise.
www.realtor.org...

Unemployment is on a steady trend downward, you can look at the U3 or the U6 and it is the same trend downward.
portalseven.com...
portalseven.com...

Jobless claims are also trending downward and it is now at the lowest level since before the recession.
news.yahoo.com...

The GDP growth has been positive since the 3rd quarter of 2009 and is currently on an increasing trend for the past 4 quarters.
www.tradingeconomics.com...

Is that enough hard facts for you?

I see that you completely ignored my post calling out the way you are only comparing two static points in time and not looking at the trends.

The economy is and has been improving...to deny it is just false and is only used as a political lie against Obama.

[more

Take your "gas prices" example...you fail to acknowlded that the "low gas price" when Obama took office was low not due to Bush's policies or the economy being good. It was low because we were in the middle of free fall and the demand for gas prices tanked. Here are a few graphs that nicely show this. If you compare gas prices today with the gas price prior to that sharp decrease due to demand drop off...you will see that gas prices aren't all that much changed.

Well considering that now we have fewer refineries and heavier EPA regulations on them it's now wonder gas prices have been steadily climbing. Also we get less commentary about the gas prices in the news. Funny how the scrutiny is not there.

And let's not forget to give credit where credit is due.

The 111th Congress (2009/2010) under Obama & Co. did nothing positive for the majority of American citizens.

Instead, they gave all the money away and helped create the massive unprecedented debt and wild spending sprees.

Yes Yes, I know about the filibusters.

But I can't find anything positive from what would have been legislated in there either.

Many people don't really "KNOW" Mr. Obama.

I think many should like to get to "NO" him better.

Textsome people called me out on me not being American and therefor deemed the information provided invalid.

Now i see why.

No president in the history of humankind could have got the Americans out of what the roman republican bush did to the world, the economy, and the respect American once had in foreign affairs.

The information you provided holds no clear water, its flawed terribly, and has no meaning of what could have been done after George bush of 8 years. Obama is cleaning up a very big mess of over 30 other presidents’ mistakes.

Why don’t you worry about the president of your country?

Its no way a real person who is not racist, or has basic common 'reality since' would believe that any of this is his fought...he was dealt the cards he was given.

ALot of those sources are biased and the decline can be attributed to already existing negative trends.

#2 When Barack Obama was elected, the percentage of unemployed Americans that had been out of work for more than 52 weeks was less than 15%. Today, it is above 30%.

Came with the territory, of course the numbers going to increase as time goes on, he's putting Americans back to work but you can't expect him to wipe out all our problems instantly. NOt even over 4 years.

#4 When Barack Obama first took office, the number of “long-term unemployed workers” in the United States was approximately 2.6 million. Today, that numberis sitting at 5.6 million.

You really to expect him to flip 1 million jobs overnight?

#7 Since Barack Obama has been president, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States has increased by 90 percent.

Really?! Gas prices were $1.58 in 2008? Hell no

Gas prices top $4.00

I would pay for you and a Obama support to be in the same room trying to tell them this. It amazes me that even today there are people that stand behind him and say he is doing a great job. Even when facts can stack up over their heads they will still stand behind him. What does that say about the education of America? How can someone post all these facts read them and research them and still support him ?

Sad part is I'll bet he gets re elected...

Well actually, many Presidents have directly improved the economy. President Monroe directly saved the United States economy with bills such as the Land Act of 1820 and the Relief Act of 1821. This ended the Panic of 1819 within 2 years. President Tyler would do similar actions to repair the American Economy during the Panic of 1837, with the economy stabilized within a year, and recovered fully in five.

FDR, through the use of controversial and potentially corrupt policies, helped bring about the end of the Great Depression, also helped by the start of World War II.

Bill Clinton would lead to the largest peacetime economic expansion with surpluses three years in a row.

Let's be real here, Barack Obama might not have been able to completely save the American economy, but he sure as hell could've turned us around greatly by now. Instead, we are basically at a tipping point in our economic status, seconds away from collapse.
