Recently made a thread about America.

Many Of You Will Not Believe Some Of The Things Americans Are Doing Just To Survive

The thread caused a lot of controversy among members.

The thread mainly focused on the decline of the economy and the outcome of that.

Some people argued the economy hasn´t gotten worse, that America is still the land of oppertunities etc.

well i want to adress the decline of the economy and give you some statistics that PROVE the economy has gotten worse since Obama took office.

before we begin let me state:
i'm NOT an American citizen.

let me be upfront with this.

some people called me out on me not being American and therefor deemed the information provided invalid.

Has the economy improved since Barack Obama became the president of the United States? Of course not. Despite what you may be hearing in the mainstream media, the truth is that when you compare the U.S. economy on the day that Barack Obama was inaugurated to the U.S. economy today, there is really no comparison. The unemployment crisis is worse than it was then, home values have fallen, the cost of health insurance is up, the cost of gas is way up, the number of Americans living in poverty has soared and the size of our national debt has absolutely exploded.

#1 Today there are 88 million working age Americans that are not employed and that are not looking for employment. That is an all-time record high.

source

#2 When Barack Obama was elected, the percentage of unemployed Americans that had been out of work for more than 52 weeks was less than 15%. Today, it is above 30%.

source

#3 There are 1.2 million fewer jobs in America today than there were when Barack Obama was inaugurated.

source

#4 When Barack Obama first took office, the number of “long-term unemployed workers” in the United States was approximately 2.6 million. Today, that numberis sitting at 5.6 million.

source

#5 The average duration of unemployment in the United States is hovering close to an all-time record high.

source

#6 During the Obama administration, worker health insurance costs have risenby 23 percent.

source

#7 Since Barack Obama has been president, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States has increased by 90 percent.

source

#8 Since Barack Obama has been president, home values in the United States have declined by another 13 percent.

source

#9 Under Barack Obama, new home sales in the U.S. set a brand new all-time record low in 2009, they set a brand new all-time record low again in 2010, and they set a brand new all-time record low once again during 2011.

source

#10 Since Barack Obama took office, the number of Americans living in poverty has risen by more than 6 million.

source

#11 Since Barack Obama entered the White House, the number of Americans on food stamps has increased from 32 million to 46 million.

source

#12 The amount of money that the federal government gives directly to Americans has increased by 32 percent since Barack Obama entered the White House.

source

#13 According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the percentage of Americans living in “extreme poverty” is now sitting at an all-time high.

source

#14 When Barack Obama first took office, an ounce of gold was going for about $850. Today an ounce of gold costs more than $1700 an ounce.

#15 Since Barack Obama became president, the size of the U.S. national debt has increased by 44 percent.

source

#16 During Barack Obama’s first two years in office, the U.S. government added more to the U.S. national debt than the first 100 U.S. Congresses combined.

source

#17 During the Obama administration, the U.S. government has accumulated more debt than it did from the time that George Washington took office to the time that Bill Clinton took office.

source

#18 The U.S. national debt has been increasing by an average of more than 4 billion dollars per day since the beginning of the Obama administration.

source

As the economy gets even worse, millions upon millions of Americans are going to become extremely desperate and will do things for money that they never dreamed that they would do. That is a very frightening thing. America is changing, and not for the better. You better get ready for what is ahead, because Barack Obama is not going to save you.

I see (& hear from) a lot of B. Obama supporters & just how great this man is..

But my opinions on Obama from day one has always been that, this is NOT the man to lead America to better times.

Instead, he was simply leading America down the same path that G. W Bush was taking..

& now i have eighteen points that prove it.

I am not an American either and I can fully agree with this. Our economies are intimately tied together and we are seeing record deficits, record decreases in exports to the US, record unemployment, etc. in Canada.

Cheers - Dave

If you are a politician, union, wall street banker, or green energy company Obama has been well worth the money you paid to put him in office.

The rest of us have just gotten useless rhetoric and huge Presidential vacation tabs.

those are some damning numbers if i ever did see some. Obama has compounded the problem and made it worse.

Sure obama got a sinking ships , but his actions only put more holes into the ship , instead of plugging the ones already leaking.

He made this plate of misery worse for americans , I remember that election how many americans were

"yes we can "

sorry...

"no you can't , and you got played like a fiddle"

vote ron paul !

I love how its all Obamas fault. Like he controls everything. Our whole system is shot, it doesn't matter who the president is.

put me in president seat and watch the changes i bring

i rather die trying , then roll over and let the same old happen again . and just compound the problem make it worse and kick the can down the road

if you can't handle that job , then obama shouldn't be president and let someone who can make changes into power. Pretty simple.

Then when you are president and continue the same path of bs like the previous administration then you are just a guilty , as if you started the whole thing.

He can do things , he can protest , he has the world stage at his feet. The problem is we have small thinkers , stuck on outdated ideologies . Thats why you see repetition failures

Good thread Kn0wH0w, but get ready for the so called Truth Team to come barging in and say these 18 shocking statistics are invalid, and will try to prove otherwise. Good info

Thanks for the work knowhow... and flag and stars for you...

I am 64 years old so am not new to this fiction we call the election process and have been intimately involved in politics, both parties for more than 40 years.

When one yells, "incoming disinfo", both parties duck as they both have always and still do propogate propoganda and disinformation and rain it down on the general public like multi-munitions on the heads of Iraqis waving white flags.

Sadly, it has become a major part of the strategy of both parties.

It has became painfully apparent to those who pay attention to fact that whether Bush, whether Obama makes little difference...

Knowhow has posted primary source information from reasonable information sources.

I might add however, that Obama is not totally responsible for all these statistics as Bush was as out of touch with reality as any President I have seen in my lifetime. So, Bush owns responsibility for some carryover splattering on Obama like droppings from a tree full of starlings.

Having said that, Obama is creating his own manure, and lies and disinformation.

American is in a cesspool of trouble, swirling madly and out of control, and as John Stewart said recently on his show, "grab your parachute because no one is flying the plane".

Both parties should be abandoned as both are worthless and worse yet, useless... congress should come together as one and join the President in making the US financially whole again. I would not complain if we were to return to the original election process, ie. whoever wins becomes President and the loser becomes Vice-President. Congress... well it is beyond help and hope and needs the largest enema in history to wash the crap out of Washington.

Stop betting everyone's future on short term, highly volitile investment businesses which make millions for a few and drags everyone else deeper into debt.

Bring industry back to American...

American's current standing as a world manufacturing leader is a sham...

American's industries have been destroyed, exported to countries where individual wages would afford maybe 10% what it currently costs an individual in America to live decently.

And the smoke and mirros and attempt to import cheap goods so Americans get a warm and fuzzy feeling about their life and ignore the growth of wealth of the few no longer works.

Give hard working Americans good paying jobs (good paying jobs are not $7 an hour flipping burgers or $9 and hour stocking at Wally World), affordable health insurance, the ability to finance a new or newer car and homes and children's educations and history shows the American people will pull themselves out of this mess created by our government and the greed of a few.

Make America live within her means just like regular people and stop giving away our tax dollars to other countries.

Affordable health care would relieve most of the financial pressure on medicade and medicare as hard working Americans are willing to pay a fair share of their income.

Thank you again Knowhow... you have done well.. I apologize for some weaving back and forth across the line of your topic, but you're research is correct.

The facts and figures of every administration should be prepared and posted for the public so everyone can see thru the smoke and mirrors of the disinformation that both parties SUCK...

System needs to collapse and start over, you can't change it working through the system thats the problem. If your a candidate your already in someones pocket. They control the media, so they control what you see and what you don't. Majority of dumb americans just pick the one of the guys on tv, that the tv tells them they should pick. However people are already watching biased stations based on what they think, so it is all controlled. Its one of the reasons we have a two party system, so you are forced to pick the lesser of two evils.

Before I opened this thread I figured Bush would be mentioned before the 5th post.

But really....the first post?

Comparing Bush to Obama is completely pathetic. The same forces Bush had to fight against to make things better are the same forces Obama is combining with to make things worse.

I'm confused.

In what way did Bush make anything better? Can you clarify your statement?

You can't blame the Obama administration for everything...Look in the mirror? Americans are so stupid. It's the people of America who did nothing when the jobs were sent overseas.

Americans kept buying goods knowing they were outsourced. Blame America...

The American people are getting what they deserve. Screw this country. Hopefully Iran will spike oil to 900$ a barrel. This notion that Americans deserve freedom is bollocks. We deserve the government we get because we allow it.

i didn't.

blame America?

or blame the people who took those decisions and made it all happen?

that's like saying we should blame the whole of Germany for igniting WW2

We deserve the government we get because we allow it.

i agree here.

but this is anywhere in the world.

anywhere!

what are we going to do?

must we really pick up our pitchforks and head for the capitol?

50 million Americans on welfare another 25 million unemployed a 15 trillion deficit over 120 trillion of social program promises.

The economy hasn't gotten better in fact it is worse never before in this entire nations history there are more people consuming the wealth of others that producing their own long term self sustaining income and a lifestlye better than what the government ""provides" by robbing peter to pay paul.

Next up is foreign borrowing to pay for those programs because the government is not generating enough revenue to sustain those programs.

America the biggest dependency state in the world that is what we have become.

Anyone who says things are better are either lying or delusional.

www.usdebtclock.org...

Look at all those pretty red numbers.

Nice thread, with a lot of sources OP. But, it begs the question; Did anyone really think it would improve?

The two fundamental problems with the US economy is NAFTA and the GTA; ie free trade; which is really not free or fair, but is instead a series of one way trade agreements our politicians signed with foreign nations.

Really, I grow weary of the shortsightedness of the average person; who only looks to the president and party in power, and the tunnel vision of the average person on both sides of the political aisle; who only see the wrongs of one party or the other.

No, Obama wasn't going to fix the economy, neither were, Bush jr., Clinton, or Bush Sr., in fact all four of them have signed addendum expanding NAFTA and the GTA, of course Bush Sr, was the one who started the whole ball rolling. And, unfortunately for the people, Rommney, Santorum or Gingrich won't do anything to fix it either.

In fact no politician will and not just because they are corrupt traitors, but also, for one other reason, it would be political suicide.

In other words America is already in the hole, and the way back out is going to be very long and very painful to American people. Because, in order to fix it you have to end the one way trade agreements and implement tariffs, which is going to shut off the flow of cheap garbage to the store shelves. Then, there is going to be scarcity and the people will actually have to go for a time without being able to buy all their junk and though, in the long term it will create a vacuum that will be filled by new american businesses and companies, it will take quite a while; long enough for the idiot sheeple to want to hang the politicians in effigy.

The sad thing is there is only one other way out of this economic nightmare for the american people and that is when their wages and standards of living reach parity with the rest of the world.

Either way, will be a long hard road, but one or the other is inevitable, and until then, it will just continue to be a long slow burn of the economy until it collapses and if that happens their probably won't be a way back.

The problem with all your examples is that you are taking two static points in time and comparing them.

You aren't looking at the trends before your beginning point nor are you looking at the trends in the past 2 years. If you did, you would see that there was a sharp declining beginning for all of these before Obama took office and you would see an increase towards getting better in the past 2 years.

No one is claiming that Obama has brought the economy back from the destruction that Bush caused...but all the numbers are moving in the right direction.

Take your "gas prices" example...you fail to acknowlded that the "low gas price" when Obama took office was low not due to Bush's policies or the economy being good. It was low because we were in the middle of free fall and the demand for gas prices tanked. Here are a few graphs that nicely show this. If you compare gas prices today with the gas price prior to that sharp decrease due to demand drop off...you will see that gas prices aren't all that much changed.

The same can be said for all of your examples. The fact is that things are getting better, but things get better slower than they go bad. Things went bad really really fast in 2008-2009 and into 2010. But since then things have been getting better.

This is why you see Republicans changing their approach from "Obama is making the economy worse" to "Obama slowed the recovery". Even Republicans fully admit that we are in recovery now.
