I have u2u'd another member about CGI, hopefully they can give some direction on how to tell if it truly is.
Since you are really into UFO's, and a big part of that is video evidence, why don't you take a little bit and educate yourself about video using any one of the dozens free or cheap software packages out there? Download one of them, follow a couple of tutorials....etc. You don't need to become an expert at it, just get some knowledge on the process.
I mean, if your REALLY interested in denying ignorance, why not learn at least the basics of the things that you view EVERY DAY about a subject your really intersted in?
I don't understand why people are so scared to learn a thing or two about reality around here......

the only problem with someone learning it just for fun, is the software is not cheap.
and please nobody violate T&C by telling us how to download it illegally

That's great that you want to learn about simple video editing. You will quickly see how easy it is. The types of light-in-sky ufo crap videos can be made by a semi-trained monkey with under 5 hours of software experience. So yeah, good on you..........but.......
And I'm going to put this as gently as I can to you.....that common sense, reason and logic filter I just spoke of.....you don't have it. Don't get all pissy on my for saying it, I'm not insulting you. I am pointing out an obvious fact. You spend enough time around this forum, and have enough interest in this subject to be able to immediately discredit the awful youtube crap you continuously thrust upon us.
The fact that you should be able, with videos like the one you posted, to use a very few logical points to not bother with it, but don't have the innate skill-set of common sense, reason and logic (I guess it can't be learned?)
tells me that no matter what you learn about video editing, photoshop or anything technical is not going to protect you from the nonsense you are amazed and confused by (because technical skills are NOT NEEDED to discredit the video you posted).
So if I were you, I wouldn't worry about learning the technical stuff. As, like i have said (and many others on this very thread have outright hinted to you...including a mod), for the majority of the videos all you need it your wits about you.
There, I saved you from spending hours learning about video editing. You should instead study a few other subjects that will better aid you. I would be more than happy to suggest some reading material that will help you develop a sharper wit.

I'm trying to figure out if you're just baiting for an argument or seriously don't know how to talk to people in a proper and civilized manner. Honestly, if you're trying to sound intelligent by your condescending tone, you're doing a less than good job of doing so.
I emplore people to actually think what the term UFO actually means. By definition it means "Unidentified Flying Object", this can be spanned from a bird, to debris, to an aircraft, or anything else airborne which is assumed to have it's own power source. It does not always mean aliens.
In this case, I am looking at a few things which stand out here, for starters, the uniform arc which these lights appear to have, and the path of said arc. I am also looking at the flicker of these lights. These seem to be similar to that of landing flares, the problem with that, is that they don't seem to be descending in altitude.
My next immediate guess would be something along the lines of VTOL.
My votes go towards more of a "down to earth" theory, rather than something far out. Will have to do some more research on it.edit on 17.1.2012 by Shugo because: (no reason given)
You may insult another person even if that's not your intention, the only one knowing it is the target of the words you spoke/wrote, in the same way some people talk to us supposing they insulting us and we just ignore them.

Dude (or dudette) I'm not insulting you.
I think the videos are fake but I don't dismiss them, I use them as another piece of probable CGI in my (still far from organised) files.
You don't need ay technical ability to dismiss videos such as this. Plain old common sense, reason and logic can pretty much allow you to move along.

I'm not an expert in CGI, much less in it's video version, but the lights do not look "normal".
For example, in the first video, when he zooms in on the lights, we can see what looks like some kind of lens flare, making the light look like a four points star, but why is the "lens flare" vertical? Why that small angle between the vertical and the vertical lines around the light?
On the second video, although it's a little difficult to be sure, it looks like the lights do not shake in synch with the camera, a common sign that the things may have come from two different sources and merged together.
If you download a copy of the video (always a good idea) you can then use something like Avidemux (free) to look at the video, although you can do much more with it.
PS: As you can see, I think the videos are fake, but keep looking, and getting to know the tools with which you can analyse and compare the videos is the best way of doing things, at least to me.
