Good, you see how much a secular government is needed!

The blow back from religious oppression is huge. There were tens of thousands of people shouting death to Khameni("supreme" "leader") in the protests!

There is already an internal struggle against the religious oppression, that's why the government has kicked up indoctrination on TV a few notches, put restrictions on all forms of art, put restrictions on the internet. The people however, work around all these restrictions as much as possible...which to me is a sign of the oppressive rule crumbling.

The people who are against the theocracy are well under 30% of the population. Now all great changes are spearheaded by a few, so that might not be all that bad.

However, you do need to keep in mind that Islam is full of regressive clawbacks in a way that no other religion mimics.

I'd say calling it "warm" would be slightly over selling it.

Necessary and therefore cordial might be closer description.

Some of their people want more Western like freedom. Their ruling elite spread extremism into Islamic groups in the West and Russia. Apparently this is what we mean by exchange of cultures.
