i see what you're trying to say but i still disagree.
because one action, due the moral standards, is considered less bad doesn't make a difference, it's still a bad action.

These guys are getting 40 virgins and paradise why would they care what's happening to there bodies? Besides OP if you were'nt so ANTI-MILITARY you could be over there right now to stop things like this from happening. Then you would be making a real difference instead of pissing and moaning on an internet forum.

I wonder how these symbolic ceremonies were acted out in the 'great' civil wars, brother against brother.

I saw the video and have to say this is typical human male behavior. I don't find it disturbing or entertaining.I will DEFINATELY NOT pass judgement on the Marines in question. I could not tell you whether I would have participated in the urination event or not if I found myself in the same situation as those Marines.

One last thought.... I'm sure that this is not the first episode of urinating on a dead foe in human history. I'm also sure these Marine didn't invent this act. I would venture to say that those dead men had no opinion on being urinated on one way or the other.

Perhaps we should bring these young men and all other Americans in harm way back home so they won't have to worry about whether they are going to be the ones urinating or being urinated on.

this in no way justifies what these soldiers are doing.

I'm not going to try to justify pissing on a dead body; it's not my thing. What I was doing is putting this into context. There are videos out there that are actually worth whinging about, i.e. the above. Though I do realise that criticising the Taliban is a bit radical, them being the good guys and all that.

well when they were fighting the russians that's exactly what they were to the US.

i believe they we're called freedom fighters at the time.

These men might be able to say they were just doing a soldier's job if we had an army of draftees. Fortunately we do not have an army of draftees. Every single man and woman in the service voluntarily walked into the recruiting office and signed on the dotted line. That means they WANT to do this. I pity their families when they come home.

Let's hope then that America, or anyone else for that matter, shows to the youngsters in these foreign countries where the troops are, how they deal with people like these. This is how you perpetuate war. So called 'collateral damage' is hard to pin down as deliberate, even if it is. There is no mistaking the message here.

Seriously though? Those guys were probably shooting at them 20 minutes prior to the urinating. Who's to know if those peed on corpse guys didn't blow up one of the unit's men days prior or that morning?

You cannot look at the urinating by itself. The men there are just that. They're men. They have emotions and see stuff you you are lucky to not have seen. You cannot stand high and mighty and declare what proper behavior is while they get shot at and you post on ATS.

Just saying. You have to earn the right to declare what's acceptable in that situation. Unless you're one of those guys, you cannot say anything. Keep it to yourself.
