I'm not really sure if 2012 is THE date...but, definitely within the next 5-10 years, our world will be affected dramatically in some way...currently we are in the process of a large scale energy shift. After 2012, or after whatever monumental event is on its way, humans will exist at a higher state of consciousness than before. When it comes down to it, everything that is happening and will happen is necessary, needed, and part of the "plan" of things coming together in the universe. It could be something very violent and terrible that takes place, but the outcome is that the powers/energies of the universe will return to balance, and the realization of the human spirit will be undeniable...

It will not take 5-10 years to start noticing these changes...you can notice them right now if your spiritual self is aware. We are currently in the final stage, whatever it may be, before the "shift" takes place. Keep an eye on the weather (more frequent/destructive/random events), as well as global events in war/politics...soon everyone will be set free, but now is a great time to watch these events unfold...

The world won't end...it's going to change. It's already gone under dramatic changes with the tsunami, more hurricanes and strange temperature behavior (cooler climates getting sunnier).

Think back to 2000...people were scared because computers wouldn't recognise the new millennium. Conspiracy theories are dangerous.

I have 2 scenarios to give:

It's the end of the world as we know it! I remember seeing, and I'm sorry to say I couldn't retrieve the picture I saw of an octopus like figure enveloping the major part of a Mayan pyramid base. This was at the end of the time line, in 2012. This would satisfy Mr. Lovecraft's writings, and other related cult prophecies, of Cthulhu rising from the depths of the ocean, and wiping out the entire human race.

On the lighter side, it will be when knowledge and communication of the world reaches an extreme exponential point, where we become so advanced, it will be almost as if the old world is gone, and we have transcended into a new world.

Both these ideas deserve further research, especially the Cthulhu idea. It is safe to say that the way the world is headed, something will happen to drastically change things in our immediate future.

You are blind if you cannot see or accept the current physical changes. Look inside.

Yawn yawn. I been looking at this for years and years and I seen nothing to say that the world is going to really end. Its just the man who wrote the book on it the first place put his own interpretation on it. Anyway if the world had apparently ended a few times before how the hell would the Mayans know about it?? Since they were not ont he earth then. Seriously are you trusting them. They beleive in giant Octopus I think which was ment to destroy the world. We all know their aint one of them. Scientifically there is not one and no chance of a one as huge as they say. Still look in their mythololgy and they think their was one. So why trust what else they say? Its a lot of hype. Oh and look at this link if you think that the alignment thats ment to happen will cause a big dark rift or some such rubbish. As the alignment already happened. www.geocities.com...

Symbols change from civilization to civilization... but the Mayans really seemed to be onto something with all the science and astronomy stuff (not as much the octopus, I'll admit). They correctly observed things that modern technology didn't detect for millennia.

My increasing sense that they're onto something, that maybe this end date is more valid than all the others ties into the disasters around us. It *is* starting to feel a bit apocalyptic, the timing of 2012 seems right on.

my point being there are a lot of arguments over what the real end date is anyway. Plus the link I put on suggests it already happened in 97. Depends on what you beleive in. Still I really cant see what will happen as of yet. If anything does happen maybe it would reveal itself closer to the time. But at the end of the day you are putting your trust in a long dead civilisation which whilst very good at astonomy had no idea of science like we do. We know far more about the formation of the universe then they did. They couldnt measure the sun as we do with probes or monitors. They just wrote down what they could. Simply putting your trust into their mythology is like putting your trust in paganism or some other ancient religion. Only reason it got attention is it has end of the world date on it. So what they knew where stars were? It really isnt that big a deal. People are crapping themselves over not much. Also even if you are going to put all your trust into this date then be sure it is the correct one. As if you look into it you will find conflicting dates.

i just love all of these predictions about when the world will end. but really doesnt the world end for someone each day when a person dies each day, and leaves their body.

August 13, 3113 BC Day one Mayan Sun.
Circa 3100 BC Ancient Egyptian first dynasty
3102 BC start of Kali Yuga in India.
11:11 AM, December 21, 2012, Annual Winter Solstice
Dec. 21, 2012 is day one of Baktun 13 Mayan ( 13.0.0.0.0.)
Dec. 21, 2012 end of Suntelia Aion, Ancient Greece.
Hindu Vedas say this is the time of the end of the Kali Yuga.
THe Aborigines of Australia say the 40 000 year dreamtime is ending now.
The Maori agree.
The Hopi elders named nine signs that would precede the 'third shaking', and eight are in the books as of today, one to go.
And it coincidentally is close to a proposed date of 2010 when the number of days of the year we spend in Pisces drops below the number of days we spend in Aquarius. The book claimed that around 1953 we first ducked in and out of Aquarius the same day, and now are approaching the point where we spend more of the year in Aquarius than Pisces.
The end of the Kali Yuga is also said to happen right about then too. Their description of what is to happen is 'wiping the slate clean'. Similar to the Mayan fire scenario, and the Biblical Apocalypse. I hope all those mysterious ancient sages were in agreement on a mistake, and the slate will remain unwiped....

if you look at the link i put above you will find that the annual solsticer has happened anyway. The solstice really isnt that big a deal anyway. Do you have links proving thst these facts you put down are true? or are they all convienient dates?

How about we be quiet and wait till 2012! Instead of counting every minute of your life, go out and enjoy it whether its end of the world or not. Guys the meaning of life is to enjoy the passage of time! So my point is this thread is old and boring like your grandpas now get over it!

The only thing that can destroy us is ourselves. The inability to know the truth creates ignorance and fear in our minds. This evil takes control of us, and I'm afraid we'll become the next Atlantis, Roman Empire, whatever. If the world doesn't come together and conquer its fears, we will never survive.

The world is NOT ending in 2012... where do people come out with these ideas ?? Not even Prophecy says that ... In fact Christian Prophecy says that after the Anti-chirst rules, Jesus will COME BACk again to rule the world for 1000 years... so if the world isnt here, what exactly would he be coming back to ? There is a difference between the "end of the world " and the "end of the wordl as we know it".

Its settled then. Christians were right all along. Nothing else here to see. Move along.
