Nah, I upset the Chinese last week and now they've deliberately moved the storm in order that I get some snow and thus fail in my quest to experience an entirely snow free calendar year!

Never, ever, tell a Chinaman you prefer curry ......

(seriously, there was always a possibility the storm would become more of a wave and track further south like this - bearing in mind that it only formed today and before that we were simply going on what computer models predicted might happen, all of them soming up with slightly different scenarios)

Aye, we shouldn't forget that France (and Benelux and Germany) could suffer from this, though hopefully it'll not be too bad. I know the MetO have been liasing through the day with their colleagues at MeteoFrance (even though the Frenchies hate us atm

This is but one example of your constant trolling and pee taking of members in this thread RMX

Quiet here...seems storm blew out although we didn't get very much to be fair.
waiting to see what friday brings now.

Mocking her on Rainbows for example see the post below, as i said just one of many, in fact you have not posted one serious reply in this thread, for some reason the mods are allowing you to continue,

Rainbows?

Anyway, this thread is dead now isn't it? Nothing special is happening. I understand that there's a place for amature weather forecasting but there is no question that this thread started off as being a warning that 2 major and abnormal storms were on their way. That's not the case. It's business as usual weather wise, and in actual fact it's mild to say the least in comparisson to the last 2 years.

I think it's time for everyone to move along.

Rainbows.

Not only mocking her, but continuing to rant on how this storm is dead when it hasn't even developed or made landfall yet, so how is this dead?

France & German have both issues amber alerts and so has the UK for snow/wind along the south coast, France will see damaging winds tonight, and yet you continue to rant on about it being a normal winter storm, granted its not as major as was predicted but its certainly not business as usaul like you suggested,

Please find another thread to troll and allow people to keep up to date on the possible disruptive 24hours ahead, in this thread

Who's ranting? The only one ranting here is you. And WTF do rainbows have to do with the thread?

My comments in the post you quoted are accurate. The storm is nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year. There are no forecasts that I've seen that say otherwise. It's a winter storm. Whoop de doo.

EDIT: and again, with the wannabe mod rubbish. You are not a mod, and you do not get to say whick opinions are welcome in this thread and which aren't.

Why is this directed at me? I believe I did say I was going to see what Friday brings...It's 11.00pm Thursday still as I type this.
Secondly in a further post of yours....If you don't know what rainbows have to do with the weather, then maybe it would be wise for you to just observe the thread?
Why do I sign off my postings with rainbows? Because generally they make happy people smile, I am sorry if they upset you

R******s to you...rainbows to those who like to smile
Jane

PS on topic...lokks like my neck of the woods has so far missed both the previous and is on course to miss tomorrows....ho hum! Thank you Jamie for keeping us all informed and helping us to learn, and all our 'local weatherpeople' for on going reports.

S+F (though I added those some time ago)

Thank you OP,
Have watched the thread since your last one and read Every post on this thread.... woop maybe should get new avatar "I read the " lol.

The amount of information resources and patience you have put into this thread is what makes ATS different, better and more interesting than nearly all sources of information, debate opinion and ultimately Deny Ignorance.

Even though the storm thankfully seems to be tracking south, there IS STILL extreme weather warnings for most of the UK esp the south, and the tone, and uncertainty of the Met on TV broadcasts up until today, which you pre dated by about 2 days on this thread if not more, clearly pictured the uncertainties, risks and unusual aspects of the potential Extreme Low of Hurricane strength storm, that very nearly would or could be battering Britain tomorrow, with all the death, destruction and misery that these natural disasters can create.

I think it is apt to clearly point out the dangers therein, and the need for advance warnings and forecasts in this regard, so excellently said by an active member on this thread, and in his own words from a actual weather event

I don't think so. It was one hell of a storm, I know people who were there. There's no outdoor stage in the world that would be 100% guaranteed to stay upright in it and I personally believe that it was just a terrible tragedy that could have been avoided if the severity of the incoming weather could have been read better.

Should we b lame the weather man? Of course not. Leave the stage hands alone.

You are so right, and I am sure that having said that you find yourself having to applaud and thank the OP and all other contributers of this thread for keeping up the good work on ATS I have outlined, and in an form that your own words & beliefs call for, that is advanced warnings of these events can save lives.

The only good thing about Storms and such like I find is that afterwards we often see an:

Which is a nice thing imho.

Kind Regards,

The reason this thing is going into france is because of a powerful jet stream, i'm not sure HAARP can do much in the way of directing the jet stream, in fact i know very very little about haarp & its supposed capabilities, the chances are if they was to start messing around with these atlantic storms they would end up with a worst outcome, even the worlds biggest super computers/models couldn't nail this storm 8hours prior, ahhh conspiracy & weather what a great mix eh hehe

RMFX1 is clearly a troll, clearly under 16 also IMO,

@angelchemuel your welcome

Update

The storm is heading into France at the minute with winds along the coast of coastal region of France hitting 70mph, 55mph inland in and around Paris, not quite as tense as the model predictions atm, but its not quite peaked yet,

Great thread, totally correct information for Tuesday!

I am awaiting (along with many I told) on today's weather (Friday).

uGrib meteorology software shows the eye of (the storm?) pressure about 100 miles NNW from Donegal in Ireland.

I am located in County Fermanagh and right now, clear starry sky, ground has black ice on it (near broke my neck lol) and here is the official report I typed from a weather station located a few miles from my house:

Temp: 0 Degrees C
Dewpoint: 0 Degrees C
Humidity: 96%
Wind: WSW at 2km/h
Pressure: 979hPa
Precipitation: 0cm/hr
Daily Precipitation: 0cm

I am not a meteorologist but for the sake of my sister who keeps BBM'ing me saying "So where's this storm"? Can you (OP) please explain to me and the rest of ATS why it looks so quiet outside (yes very cold), but very quiet? I think my sis is annoyed because I told her and she told her mates and now she thinks she is looking like an idiot lol.

I am kind of leaning towards maybe that its the calming before the storm? 2km wind is VERY low for my area but I am not educated meteorological pressure; please elaborate.

EDIT: WOW! Just WOW! as soon as I hit send, I looked out the window and its SNOWING SERIOUSLY HEAVY! (16/Dec at 3am)

The low pressure in question here is currently in the channel tracking east into France, the low near Ireland is a second feature that was supposedly going to track over Scotland seems to have taken a nose dive south

Yup Snow piling into Wales & Central parts of the uk now,

The storm a week ago was downgraded & then put on a different trajectory all together, which now sees it heading into France then Germany, which means the high winds stay south of the UK but the cold air pools in behind the Low Pressure system and we now see the snow instead of the wind, mainly for hight elevations & central/northern parts of the UK

White outside, here in Glasgow (North) 2°c though according to my widget, and my hands aren't even cold I'm quite warm actually (no heating on) so I'd say it's probably higher than that, so it will probably be gone by morning. Ah well it cheered me up in the meantime, what a difference a bit of snow makes. May this be the dawn of the new Ice Age!

Hope to get a couple of pics in the morning if it's still laying.

As I didn't want to derail or be off topic I did not say all that I wanted to in my post.
It was not HAARP I was referring to, there are higher powers than that on this earth.

I said I was going to pray and I did.
I will tell you of an account that really happened (and it is totally provable); I was on a plane going to USA on a holiday that we had won. We had gone to Florida on our honeymoon 3 years before just after Hurricane Andrew and it was sad.
Whilst we were on the flight the news report said a hurricane was due to land at Florida while we were on holiday.
I prayed and said "Oh no it isn't, it will turn around the way it had come".
Anyway it did exactly that, ( a complete 180) except it didn't dissipate, it actually landed in UK and hit Kent where we live.
I learnt that day to think about what I pray and be very specific, as I didn't want people to be hurt.

Jesus calmed the storm and He said we are to do bigger things, so I believe that ,and I have faith that though pray and intent we can control storms.

Well as I said, I didn't want to derail or go off topic, and I know you are going to slag me off but I don't care as I know that UK did not deserve this storm. (Other people pray for their countries, I pray for UK.)

In the coming years if you could remember this and use this in times of trouble, I will have helped.

Peace.

We had THUNDERSNOW this morning in Chorley, Lancashire.
About 06:15am just let my dog in the garden and saw it was snowing. Then got my young son a drink and heading back upstairs when there was a flash of lightning, followed by the thunder.
YEH.... THUNDERSNOW.

PS: now stopped snowing
