Here is possible solution:

Make a thumb up and down on a post or a rating system. If a post receives more than 10 thumbs down the post should be hidden. And you can only use this feature if you have more than 20 posts and registered.

Hows that?

Fantastic and i'm happy to hear it.... A little too late for me personally though... I lived for this site when I found it but, I was quickly digusted by the very thing that this thread is about... Now, I can barely stomache it at all and shy away from this site except for the rare occassion.

Sadly, as I look through the comments, I can ALREADY see it infecting even THIS thread from a few members.... I don't get it, why argue with what this thread is saying?! Why question it?... Why not simply say "ok, that's great ATS.. i'm glad you're paying attention"... unbelievable

Good luck and I hope this works to help make the comments sections more tolerable..

Sorry but as soon as I see this name jaime maussan I am NOT INTERESTED in wasting an hour of my life on his stuff If you have watched it by all means give me the times of the things that will interest me and I will fast forward to them.

As for Mexico I have seen to many balloon videos from there, it looks like they are trying to cash in on the ufo tourist trade/ industry.

I will give you an example a member of my family lives near a UFO hotspot in Scotland now that area became a UFO hotspot just after a local airport open nearby for light aircraft/ private planes strange how thats never mentioned or considered in the UFO reports from that area.

Excellent news. All I did in my first two years on ATS was visit that forum but the rampant trolls and people who were overcritical made me go there only once a week if that.

Excellent! I'm really glad to see this is being stepped up. We are living in what I believe are Amazing times and the likelyhood of an earth changing event is greater than ever....DO WE WANT TO MISS OUT ON BEING AMONG THE FIRST IN THE KNOW because we are unable to act civil?

Thank You

Although I don't disagree and do enjoy your profile pic.. I must say that such a comment is EXACTLY what this thread is talking about....

Would that be the case you'd be on GLP

On topic, I find it really interesting that this thread has to be posted approximately once a year.
Maybe due to the fluctuation of members.
You'd think it should'nt be necessary at all.

The comments "this thread" is talking about could also be avoided by not posting "threads" like the example I presented. Thus eliminating my comment that you found to be "EXACTLY what this thread is talking about". It's a vicious circle, I guess. When you present yourself in such a manner (as the example I posted) be ready for some back lash. Im always ready for the backlash. Opposition is part of what makes us human. Rules and regulations get us banned. I walk the line and can say it's a far more interesting view. Makes me feel alive.

With that being said, I have read T & C again. I just hope there isn't a quiz tomorrow.

It's not at all far fetched that a system with thumbs down and hiding of posts with -10 would be abused on ATS. Besides, by definition the system implies promotion of the mainstream (in the ATS collective) and ostracizing the alternative (in terms of popularity). I don't know how that would fit a site aimed exclusively at controversial topics like conspiracy theories, aliens, paranormal activities and so on..

Thanks.

I also stopped authoring threads because of the constant- "oh, this has already been de-bunked, blah blah" comments.

Many new members actually want to discuss a topic that might have already been authored, but you don't really get that far on a thread that was authored 2 years ago. Hell, sometimes even a couple of months ago.

It's always the same bull, people dropping you links of the many existing threads on the topic, even if they are as old as Moses.

If I may also add, peoples views change on a daily basis and what we considered impossible 5 years ago, could be considdered believable now.

Good one, thanks for posting this ! It can ruin a stay here for sure if all you get is chastisement for posting, So important not to have the "post police" after you if you have repeated a topic! Each person has something unique to give to a subject, very rarely is something posted exactly anyway. If someone does repeat answer with a new thought that is helpful maybe with a different slant on things.
Again glad that ATS is aware of this so important issue!

Certain topics elicit more aggressive responses and not much can be done about it when the perceived legitimacy of someone's belief system is at stake.

You'll never stop those threads, any more than the ones we see monthly that say in a nutshell, "I don't believe in aliens because an alien hasn't shaken my hand." And unlike the "annoying" two page post you put up, the "don't believe in aliens because of X" threads usually linger for 20 or 30 pages. And then after they go away, it just pops up again in another iteration.

As new people continue to drift in, yes, some repetition is going to happen. Same subjects, or very subjective posts will crop up. Welcome to the Internet..

Thankyou.Knowing this site supports them will help more individuals (previously reluctant) to come forward and become members. This is an excellent site for worldwide concerns and opinions to be aired. I thouroughly enjoy it! Chardonnay

Ugh, I too have noticed this. There is fewer and fewer UFO / actually interesting threads and posts on this board, and more and more political b/s. It has scared away so many veteran posters of this board, and actually decent threads rarely make it to the front page anymore as they are quickly blasted with tunnel vision "skeptics". I appreciate skepticism, but nowadays it seems to be just bashing, and I never feel compelled to counter anything they say because it seems like there is 20x more of them than me.

Well said my friend... To go along with the intended purpose of this thread, perhaps folks should simply exercise some constraint and frequent the posts which they agree with.... Personally, I can tell within 2 or 3 sentences if I'm gonna agree with a post or not. If it doesn't agree with my current paradigm, I simply close it out.. end of story... no condesending remarks, no bashing the author, no wiki links as opposing proof and certainly no laughing or chastising...

There are 7 billion people on the planet and there are 7 billion DIFFERENT views on reality.... What is "truth".... NOBODY knows.. In reality, EVERYTHING is theory, regardless of many peer reviews are done on it... respect each individuals version of reality and truth without trying to sway them over to your version... it's really that simple..

ATS does know there are dis-info agents from the government right? ATS is one of the main conspiracy forums. How can the government miss this? They can't.

As much as I agree with the theory, principle, and purpose of this thread... I respectfully disagree..and for the following reasons..

1) History proves it does not work.. How many users in this thread have said its been posted before, and it seems as if its posted every few months, or a few times a year....

2) If the users agree.. it will only build up tension.. and one day it will happen again.. and it will become a trend..especially popular for new members.. who dont know or read the T&C.. see number 1..

3) It makes people soft.. Let them have there little e-peen and ego battles, but keep it civil. (See T&C)

If a true believer posts something.. and a skeptic or non believer comes in and asks questions relevant to the topic, and/or provides proof disproving that theory.. take your loss.. and learn from it..no need to whine and complain and look towards staff for help. Grow a pair, (for the lovely ladies of ats, just his like a man
) seriously..

Regardless of the T&C (Which I didn't violate as far as im concerned) I had a lengthy e-peen/ego battle over a topic with a member known as RevelationGeneration, some of you here might've even been apart of that thread. I wasent going to stand down, and at the same time I was going to call him out for purposely ignoring my valid and ontopic questions that he was deliberately ignoring. Why give in? If you stand/believe for something.. SHOW IT!

This (excuse my sexist comment) girl fighting.. is just ludicrous, and frankly its what makes ats look more and more like GLP each passing day, and as a long time lurker of this site and who found GLP first, and hated it for all the obvious reasons.. it saddens me more and more to see this happening..

Seeing that this is on page 5.. I doubt anyone will even read it.. and moreover I doubt many people will even agree with me.. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks ya know? Once someone is set in there ways.. thats just how it is..

No community of this size is ever going to agree on anything.. granted.. but pick and choose your battles.. and learn from your mistakes.. and move forward. Agree to disagree. Ignore something instead of fighting.. Or just take the easy road and be better then the next person.. With that being said.. theres no reason to gloat about such either..

Everything I just said can be summed up in 10 words or less.. here lets try

"The only point your proving is pissing in the wind is pointless"

Ok so its 12 words.. sue me. Lets argue about it for 13 pages violating 4 or 5 fundamental T&C and making 10x more work for the already busy moderators of ATS who get to go back and add those lovely stop and yield signs.......

/Faceplam

Disclosure already happened. The White House said the other day that they didn't have any evidence that UFOs were alien craft, or evidence of any aliens at all, and so they obviously didn't have any contact with them.

There's the official White House statement, aka disclosure. That should settle the matter once and for all.

Umm, isnt that a bit condecending to say? Or are you being sarcastic?

Either way i found it strange that on a thread about being open minded that this came up a few posts down...
