You do well to stay out of religeons. They are the control of government and the church of Lucifer.
I have said it all along. Whenever I fill out documentation and they ask what religeon. I say "I am a Christian." They usually say, "what denomination?" I say, "There is none, I am a Christian". Why?

Here's why.....

(1 Corinthians 1:12, 13)

"Now I say this, that each of you says, 'I am of Paul,' or 'I am of Apollos,' or 'I am of Cephas,' or 'I am of Christ.' Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?"

(2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder; for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness.”

(Matthew 15:9)

"And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men".

(1 Corinthians 12:13)

"For by one Spirit were we all baptized into one body".

Jesus never was a member of a church and even admonished the Roman Catolic Priests all the time. If you call yourself ANY denomination at all you are at war with your Christian brothers and it's a divide and conquer trick, just like Democracy is in the States.

Any true Christian, upon asking him who he is......will simply say "I am your brother, and a child of GOD/Jesus...I belong to no other".

I hate to use the words of Phillip Anselmo from Pantera here, but words are words and he was right about one thing. "I will call no one my father who is no closer than a stranger." (note: although some metal bands have lyrics that may be traced with wisdom and sayings, I wouldn't use them to try to please GOD...it just won't work.)

Religion in general, especially organized religion is in place to control minds, nothing more, Spirituality on the other hand is the connection from within, God what we call Consciousness, Higher Power, the SOURCE of all things has no religion. Man creates things to try and express what he feels. Religion is not necessary to know that there is something higher than this realm we find ourselves in

Blessings

there is no slave from the enslaved itself, unless he means to enslave others too but then he is just a living god

people that accept to do what others say are the most free ones, it is the easiest way to b free by leting others rule everything

that is how free people elect governments that would assist them for all their lives

the issue is what objective superiority is only and exclusively of truth result
but the issue also is what anyone is only one freedom outside of everything so dont know any, especially gods

I really like the wisdom that has been iterated in this thread. I really agree with basically everything that has been said. Just some opinions that I would like to share -

- I dislike how the Christianity doesn't focus more on Jesus and his teachings, but rather focuses much on Judaism and things that happened after Jesus' life. While we may realize that Jesus was a Jew, he was also somewhat critical of some jewish teachings. I also dont trust teachings that are tarnished by man, who was not "divine" like Jesus.

- I think many are on point, realizing that religious labels divide and limit humanity's positive spiritual potential. Jesus never spoke about discriminating against other spiritual concepts, but rather preached very much on acceptence of others. As long as other spiritual concepts are used in a positive manner, I think they should be practiced.

- While Judaism, Christianity and other religions expresses much wisdom, humanity and our understanding of spirituality isnt perfect. For example, zionism, christian and muslim fundementalism have negative impacts on people that conflicts with not only their own religions , but the correlation of ideals that express unconditional love and understanding in all worldly spiritual concepts.

-Atheists and people who believe in spiritual concepts shouldnt believe that "what they know is truth". Atheists shouldn't ignorantly profess that "God doesn't exist" (we simply dont have the technology to understand God yet IMO), neither should believers in God feel that "they know the nature of God" , because we dont. We only know so much about the nature of God that is humanly possible.

I could say alot more, but alot has already been said. I'm sure many people will have much more to say. All in all, the best thing we can do as human beings is respect eachother, and develop our ability to unconditionally love and understand one another.

you are a deist, you believe in a deity.

when you pick a god from a religion then you are a christian, muslim, etc. so if you believe in jesus then you are by definition a christian.

Muslims "believe" in Jesus.

What would someone be called if he practiced the things Jesus spoke about yet was an atheist or agnostic? What would you call a "Christian" that uses their religion maybe once a year?

Then you have arrived at what Jesus wanted. He hates religion and all things religious. Now get on and follow the rest of it properly.

I Definatly Belive In God Now But I Do Not Have A Religion Thank You

Same mate, believe in god and jesus but don't have a religion as such. The churches are corrupt and full of control from my experience and my friends experiences.

So now i pray quietly at home not baptized.

Looks it's not a bad thing the church is the house of god you don't have to go to a friends house all the time do you? you can visit outside in the open

I believe in God as an "everything entity" and I believe in Jesus as a messenger of God`s word to us, along with other messengers like Buddha, Mahomet and others. I believe there are different messengers with different ways to bring basically the same message in order to reach different cultures.

To me religion is not faith nor an obligation, just a way to keep the basic/main word/message alive.

Congrats, you are now on the same level of Satan and demons whom as the book of James states all believe God exists. The book of Romans points out that the invisible attributes of God are seen through creation, so that everyone is without excuse for denying His existance. Proverbs and Psalms state repeatedly that only a fool says there is no God.

Simply recognizing God's existance is a start, but it means nothing when it comes to salvation. Recognizing that you are a sinner and in need of God's forgiveness, turning from the lifestyle of sin, and putting your complete trust in Christ's substitutionary sacrifice on your behalf is the means by which we are then reconciled back to God.

God could care less about how many nice things you've done for people, or what denomination you follow. He only sees 2 types of people: Those that have been forgiven, and everyone else.

added: I will concede that many of the churches here are horrible self help institutions, but I would encourage you to find a decent one that teaches the Bible exclusively. The main reason the church was created was to allow Christians to fellowship with other believers. If you plan on spending an eternity in heaven, perhaps you should get used to spending time with other Christians now, otherwise you might be more happy in the other place where there are none (except for the imposters that are complained about being hypocritical)

Spirituality has nothing to do with the concept of GOD. Educate yourself a little more.

Another completely ignorant reply, what is it with this thread?

It's like your arguing the meaning of a word when it's clearly defined, it's not even an creationist debate or anything.

Ok let me put it to you like this... Since I am an educated individual. Spirituality is the foundation that religion is based upon. Religion is simply organization. An organization whose founding principal was control. Since the first time that someone was able to predict an eclipse, power over others was in their mind. To have a belief in something greater than yourself and the knowledge of the fact that you are a part of that greatness is called spiritual evolution. So once again being religious is simply being labeled and being a part of and organization. Being spiritual is the knowledge of the kingdom of God is within and all around. Religion is brainwashing... Such as dinosaurs never existed they were put here to test faith... What a load of bull. Or that if you don't repent that you are destined for he'll.. Another load of bull... I firmly believe that we are put into this imperfect life so to experience imperfection, to better appreciate the harmonious perfection of the afterlife. We are not perfect being and we make mistakes however we don't need some religion to make us better people, we can do that on our own, because the Christ seed is within each and everyone of us. In fact I could quote the bible where when Jesus is performing his miracle he states that you too can do the same as I, and better. Religion however will have you believe that you are an inferior soul. Totally untrue. Like one guy stated God is love, we are his creation there fore we are a part of God... Therefore we are god with a small g. Once again... Religion is simply a control mechanism.
