Why don't you try answering the question I asked as opposed to going off on tangents about my analogies? You think your veiled insults are impressive enough to dodge my questions? They aren't.

The message is getting more obscure by the day with this crowd. Attacking a Whole Foods in Oakland, attacking people who attended an Americans for Prosperity meeting, Occupying a foreign consulate now!!?? Cue the Zionism rhetoric, and anti Semitic comments now. We've already heard them in other cities.

BTW the flotilla was simply redirected and any and all vessels are welcome to dock for inspection and transfer of cargo. It's always been that way. Apparently, following the guidelines simply won't get you a newspaper headline or won't get a group of wanderers riled up in Boston Its never been about the aid. Just the story and the hype.

End of Story!!

This is not your normal movement though that you can just slap a label on.

Well now, THERE is some truth! It's nearly impossible to slap a bumper sticker on the nothingness of vacuum, isn't it.

On the other side of the coin, the nothingness of vacuum doesn't have enough substance to accomplish much of anything, either.

No it's not, for one thing among others, it raises awareness.
Yes, there is hard to work to be done...what makes you think it's not being done? The movement is very young.

To me thats a major flaw in the intent of OWS and expectations of it.

We should never get to the point where we allow a group of people to fight for our rights. We have done this the last few hundred years and it blew up in our face. Support of OWS is fine, but not engaging / educating / challenging simply because people are already doing it......

whats the point?

You can't seriously be comparing the two. To answer your silly question; Should the movement go that way, well, for one I would be shocked but I would definitely no longer be a supporter. I think if you read more clearly you would see that it isn't justification we are "contorting" ourselves over, it's fighting the extreme slant.

Oh boy, yet another thread that could have led to an important discussion is inundated by the usual suspects saying the same old, tired things yet again.

Some people protesting may think that corporatism and impropriety amongst the financial institutions is something worth speaking up against.

Some may think think that environmental concerns, gmo's, pharmaceuticals, or even, yes, the actions of our bestest buddy and "strongest ally" Israel may be something to protest about. You get that many people together, of course there will differences of opinion and priority.

It is an indictment of our current state of affairs that there are so many things wrong that are deserving of attention. Even if not all the people are on the exact same page, at least they realize that things are seriously screwed up, in many different ways, and are willing to put themselves on the line to bring the spotlight on to these situations. All the bashing is just sad.

You don’t know why the “usual suspects saying the same old thing” came out again, so let me fill you in, professor. The reason the hounds come out is because we are defenders of the truth, facts, reason and ALL THINGS AMERICAN. We “deny ignorance” in accordance with the ATS moto. We support the greatest country in the world and defend her against all enemies….foreign and domestic. The sooner you look at the facts and see that OWS is misguided in their efforts the sooner you will become aware that we speak the truth. Take the blinders off and look at which side of the debate throws down facts and which side throws down rhetoric. By the way, there is no man-made global warming! Take the blinders off and research….I did, and it opened my eyes. I’ve learned to accept the truth from many sources, and I’ve had to rethink many positions because of things written by people here on ATS. The minute you think you know it all is the minute you stop learning and growing as a person.

I'm going to quote you on that. As I stated earlier they need direction with leadership. I've said it before and I'll say it one last time here tonight.

I support the premise of their effort but I will not take part in nor support MOB rule not to mention some socialist/communist agenda with Union support. [Nasty bedfellows]

Take it to Washington DC, Go after the FED, end Bureaucratic control and restore the Republic.
How about that for direction, content and a REAL Agenda with real possibilities?

Then what the hell is the Goddamn message?

See its becoming a shell game where they can protest ANYTHING in the name of OWS,and call it OWS,even though it never meant anything connected to OWS.Of course if it doesnt fly with the many supporters of this movement, and they cant conveniently convince themselves this is part of the message, they will call it a fringe offshoot of OWS. Plausible denial anyone? No agenda here, right? EVERYTHING goes with this protest......

Sonny1, you have inspired me! First thing in the morning, I'm venturing forth to join OWS. My protest issue will be OWS.

That's right, goddammit! I'm going to Occupy OWS!

They themselves have said that there is no one message, and anything goes. I think it's time to give a practical demonstration of the fallacy of that logic.

That is my chosen issue.

#Occupy OWS!

Didn't see this mentioned in this thread but regardless of any extraterritoriality issues ambassadors and their consuls generally have diplomatic immunity from the laws of the host country. The consul at that location could have personally shot those occupiers and the only thing that could be done is expel him. That it didn't happen shows restraint on Israels part because they don't usually deal with terrorists that way. If the occupiers shot back they would be tried and/or extradited to Israel to face their fate. I can't imagine the US in a spat with any country, especially Israel, over a few protestors.

It's just plain stupid to provoke a country and to try and occupy a diplomatic mission.

First of all whatever "insult" you took from my answer, there was nothing veiled about my reply. If you are not understanding that my greatest concern with this so called "movement" is that so, so, so, many act like spoiled children, throwing tantrums and screaming nonsensical attacks, then it is doubtful you will understand what I just wrote. In short, there is nothing reasonable about these people doing this, claiming to be a part of this protest shin-dig.

Just look at the question you claim I didn't answer. Your question was a loaded question, demanding that we first agree that we are demonizing the protestors because we are being critical of their tantrums, and of the overall messageless message of this group of protestors. I respond to those who say its capitalism that is the problem and others jump up and scold me for treating that one poster as being representative of the "movement as whole". Someone else screams tax the rich and I suggest we do away with income taxes all together and people pipe up accuse me of condemnation of other people to death. I see all of this and accuse the "movement" of engaging in a class war at the expense of the 99% - the actual 99% - and others join and assure me that this is not about class war.

That sort of disingenuous behavior, as I have said before, invites valid criticism and this is what you are getting that you hopelessly want to paint as "demonizing".

Slayer? Hi...

I tried it on for size and it just does not fit. My common sense is getting in the way.

To imply that every protestor is unemployed, is on the ignorant side, no?

Fighting fire with fire is one thing... But to fight the ignorance of some of the protestors, with more ignorance... I just don't think that will work....

You're better than that slayer... Come on.

Love you brother but I have to try and keep both sides honest here.

Indeed!

All those accounts of Anti Semitism that so many dismissed finally rears its ugly head thought it was about Wall Street so tell me what the hell does the Israeli Consulte have to do with anything?

Oh if it looks like a Nazi and "protests" like a Nazi its a Nazi.

OWS is totally worthless.

Zionism and the central reserve corporate-government fusion are synonymous.

Would you rather Obama stand with Wall St?

Wait - the argument I got before was that Wall Street is running the government, and that's what OWS is ticked off about. Doesn't that place them as already standing in the same line, together?

Ask for resignations and then what? Who gets the offices?

I'll take it. I need a bigger desk and an office window with a view. Does the office come already furnished with interns?

Really trying to justify racism still jewish aren't they?

And we all have seen hatred run amuk for the jewish because that is what that is doing creating division that leads to that same place it has so many times in the past.

But wait for it again what does an Israeli consulate have to do with the evil 1% ?

Oh that sounds familiar much like how Hitler riled up the German citizens and blamed all their problems on the rich evil jewish bankers.

Nah OWS has my contempt and for apolitical cause there is too much politics for my taste.

I understand that many of you used to watch Fox news before you woke up to the truth that the MSM is not looking out for your best interest. I know some of you still watch Fox news.

But consider how bizarre this is, Fox news is a neo-conservative propaganda machine.. no doubt. Neo-conservatism is a corruption of the Republican party.. it's really quite impressive how Fox got the conservatives who are the most suspicious of government.. to agree with corporate and government ideals.. they get the most self-proclaimed U.S. patriots to spew propaganda.. it went on for so long you think you know the real story or the turth.. you do not

The media lies about so much and has so much corporate and government bias.. why oh why would you ever take what FOX News says about Israel and Palestine at face value????

Fox news tells us that Israel's illegal settlements are not important, and that supporting Israel is just plain ol' patriotic and American. You have been trained to support Israel because that is America's biggest gateway into the middle east.. you know, that middle east where we have had 4 military conflicts recently and soon to be another with Iran.

Let's take a look at what countries keep their nuclear weapons programs a secret.. Iran, North Korea, and Israel.

The double standards we apply to Israel are absurd. What is the world to think?

Edit: All MSM is biased and corrupt.. I'm just pointing out how your beliefs are the exact same as Fox news which is one of the worst offenders. That should say something. Even democratic candidates MUST support Israel to be elected.

Regardless of which MSM you do or do not watch, or if you don't watch any news at all.. if you blindly support Israel like Fox news and your argument points are the exact same as fox news you need to analyze that.

Well that's an interesting rant against FOX news. Thanks for clearing that up. I wouldn't know I never watch it. But for me all News outlets are suspect that includes but not limited to....

RT, BBC, PressTV, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN....

They ALL try to spin the News in their favor....

Anyone who believes that wealth should be redistributed is OBVIOUSLY an underachiever. I mean, let’s be honest!! The majority of OWS protesters believe that the wealth in our country is unevenly stacked on the 1% but there is enough left for everyone to earn a great living. the 1% thing is a fact!! The difference between OWS (10%) and the rest of the 99% (89%) is that we don’t believe wealth should be legislated, confiscated, or redistributed. The 89% WILL NOT get behind this movement as long as the 10% keep standing for this. The 10% are the majority on the street today. These are the people that you and I both dismiss as not representing the majority. STOP SUPPORTING THESE PEOPLE. They don’t represent the 99%.

By the way, I live in Dallas too. Do you see the differences between OWS Dallas and the angry people in other parts of the country? I made a post about how the Occupy Dallas protesters that described how they marched in favor of the police. How come these other folks are going nuts?? How come these other folks are now protesting ISRAEL? REALLY?? How does that represent the 99%? Please explain how the 89% are suppose to get behind OWS when they are not represented?? We all agree the country is going in the wrong direction but how are we suppose to get behind the radical crap being promoted?
