Wow, arrogant much? We were all once just like you. You're going to find out in a hurry that you don't know a damned thing and the little you do know is flat out wrong.

You are very little like me. The only thing we share are human emotions. Our relative intelligence is worlds apart, and the insinuation is, honestly, laughable.

Okay, at least get your facts right. The minimum wage is the same everywhere, for heaven's sakes. It is currently $7.25 an hour.

Federal minimum wage. States are free to set their own minimum wages, as well as smaller divisions of government depending upon state laws.

It has nothing to do with playing the victim. You are not invincible and like the other poster said, you haven't yet been screwed over. You will be, just wait. It happens to everyone. You can't help but shift your attitudes after that happens.

Haven't been screwed over?

I won't share my tales. However, I've had plenty of encounters with the system in the military. Sure - there are things that were not my fault and there was nothing I could do about them once they happened. There were plenty of times, however, where a little foresight and proactive measures would have prevented the screw-over, to begin with (or made it much easier to clear things up).

It is about evoking the victim mentality. You can either say "poor me, I got picked on" - or you can stand up and be responsible for yourself - starting by avoiding institutions and agencies that will screw you over (or minimizing your screwability).

I find this part the most hilarious of your entire post. I'm an early Gen X'er, and we said exactly the same thing about the post-war generation and the Baby Boomers. It didn't happen. When you grow up, you will fall into exactly the same mindset and you will continue to maintain the status quo. The world isn't changing any time soon--and your children will most likely have dire need of those social programs. I wouldn't get rid of them just yet if I were you.

Like I said - you and I are different.

I have my goals - that do not include the rest of society. I will do what is best for myself and my descendents (and those close to me). I am not afraid to trim the fat and to make the hard decisions.

"Why aren't you out there doing it, yet?"

It's called a plan. It's also called trigger discipline - keep the finger off the trigger until you've engaged the target.

My goodness, how arrogant!

I once had a memory like a steel trap, too. Guess what? It doesn't last. I think having children does it--your mind can only process so much and then it kicks out the useless garbage that you USED to think was so important to retain.

Like I said - you and I are different in ways that you can't really comprehend. You were never on my level, and never will be. I recognize the value of your experience and knowledge - but also the feeble nature of your mind.

You understand things--but you have no experience with human nature. You said it yourself--you are a loner. I'm getting the impression that you haven't quite figured people out and don't know how to, so you retreat into what you do understand...and those things cannot be translated into relationships with other human beings, or have any bearing on systems that involve human beings.

People are things that can be easily defined by functions of conditional logic. A person - singular intelligence - is a little more complex, and infinitely interesting. People, plural intelligences - are stupid and blissfully unaware of history. They can be defined as any other resource-driven entity.

Look - this is drifting more off-topic.

You assert that I don't understand people - yet want to make accusations of the "1%" and marginalize the "rich and wealthy" as greedy, malevolent entities.

That is one thing I detest about people. The lack of willingness to understand. Everyone has decided what it is a human being should be - and gets very judgmental of or likes to marginalize anything that falls outside of that. This "1%" nonsense is no different.

Rather than take the time to consider something else equally human... it's easier to shove it off into a category of "less than human" so as to move on with one's life and make continuing down their own habitual course easier. The ex girlfriend is a slut/bitch/whatever. The guy living in a mansion is selfish/greedy, etc.

"Aim, you did that with the protesters! Hypocrite!"

My point has been pretty well illustrated by my posts. These people are more than capable of doing fine work and making a fine living. They have simply chosen to be reliant upon a 'higher authority' to work out many of their problems, rather than take their own initiative to put their skills to use - and to fixate on the wealth of others.

Let them keep making jokes,

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

for those of you who don't know this, this was Mahatma Gandhi. Here's to wishing he were here these days..

I started this thread thinking it would be informative about the complaints from the OWS movement. I only got to page 4 before I'd had enough. Instead of hearing about how they want to change the world for the better all I hear is "gimme, gimme, gimme. You got more than you fair share. " One person has stated the entire problem quite succinctly. Its all about the choices YOU make, not what someone else has earned.
Thank you Aim62c for your being open about your trials and I hope things have improved for you and your family. Having been through more trials and tribulations than 99% of the 99% I feel nothing but disgust for these whiny little.........

I've worked in about every fast food joint but McD's, I've been a cook for Sodexho, I was in construction/roofing for 15 years, I've been a soldier, and I've been homeless. I've lived and supported both myself and my disabled wife on less than $150 a week and never once have I felt that just because someone else has had success that they should have to share it with me. I also don't feel like that since I've improved my lot in life (THROUGH MY OWN CHOICES!!) that I owe anyone else anything.

To the 99% you are succumbing to the class warfare rhetoric espoused by the Democratic party and the current Washington administration. That is good for them because it keeps your focus off of what they have done to create and inflame the situation. Wake Up!!
The world doesn't think your as special as you have been told all your life. If they DO think your special it would be the "short bus special." Grow up, grow a set, and make your own path in life and learn to be happy with what you have and not envy someone else because their ideas worked. If your path in life has failed so far do what I've done on countless occassions. Pick yourself up, brush off the dirt and go back to the drawing board. Oh and quit whining, you've become annoying.

I wonder if they would think it was still funny if people started boycotting McDonalds? I don't eat there anyway, but it just might send a message to them...

If you are politically minded enough to consider boycotting McD's... would you even be a regular customer of them (say a daily/weekly customer?)

So, you made the choice to be self employed?
You are to reap the benefits and the shortcomings of your choice.

Sounds like it is time to move from your area.
I wouldn't live in CA to save my left nutt.

WOW!!! kinda self righteous there dontcha think. You just remember every dog has his day. and remember any time you want to jump into my shoes,,feel free, now I know you will do much better a JOB at it than I. oh yeah buddy they do stink too

BTW, what happened to your ATS points? Troll elsewhere!!!!

Did you benefit from being self employed? More so then someone working for a Corporation.

As for points? I am not here for popularity. You have me confused with someone who cares what your opinion of me is.

the message is this economy does not work. it hardly pays to work. there are few people with money and the money is not moving. it is staying with the 1%. people who are already hurting are getting screwed yet again while we fight wars and give tax breaks to the rich. to ask for austerity after 30 years of this pisses people off. You do not see wage increases just profits and tax breaks.

No, it's trying to show others how they are being taken advantage of.

I wouldn't trade places with GWB for anything............he may have more money and "things" than I do, but I will go to my grave knowing I never intentionally screwed over anyone.

Most of the anti-OWS crowd are not well researched into the many injustices of our system and they've swallowed the corporate propaganda.

It would be REALLY funny if McDonald's sued the Chicago Board of Trade for CopyRight infringement for illegally photocopying their job applications...and using it for a political ploy.

in my opinion, the gov't was a primary player in making the economy such a mess to begin with...
to me, it isn't unreasonable to expect them to put a little effort into correcting this mess!!!

what are you TALKING about? what does what GWB have to do with a bunch of whiners that REFUSE to go look for work, like everyone else has done since the beginning of this country? Why do they feel they should be given EVERYTHING on a silver platter?, Why not EARN it like the rest of us everyday joes?

On top of cold weather and logistical pains, "Occupy" protesters in Chicago last week dealt with an embarrassing stunt. Dozens of photocopied McDonald's job applications were reportedly thrown from the Chicago Board of Trade building and onto Occupy Chicago protestors earlier this week, according to Chicagoist (h/t Mediaite).

Wow...how rude. So everyone's supposed to go work at McDonalds flipping burgers, this will solve ALL of our problems, yeah right.
edit on 6-11-2011 by bekisu because: (no reason given)

Oh damn! Someone protests the angry mobs, and suddenly protest is "rude".

Who the hell do those people think they are, protesting like that, dropping job applications on a milling mob?

We really ought to take that pesky First Amendment away from them, shouldn't we?

Damn!

This is exactly what they are protesting. McJobs are the only jobs left for the majority of the people.

Exactly... It must suck to have a college degree and mountains of student loan debt, and the only job you can get is flipping burgers and saying "would you like fries with that."

Correct, and it is also insulting to tell people that have worked hard to make something out of themselves to go flip burgers.

The ones who find this funny or share in the opinion that college educated americans should become serfs, we'll see how hard they laugh when the civility ends and the streets burn.

There will be no where to run.

What work is there?

Are you college educated? I find that most people who talk like you do only have a high school diploma or less

Open your eyes man, the class warfare stuff isn't rhetoric it is REAL. The elite has waged war against us, you and I, over the last thirty years.

End the divisive rhetoric. We are all in the same boat.

I'm shocked that you have those things, usually people who can't step out of their bubble to see that the complaints of new age college grads are valid tend to have GEDs.

No need for insults friend. I will be reporting you if you cannot be civil.
