Time's up: The Zuccotti Park Vagabonds have had their say - and trashed lower Manhattan-for long enough. They need to go.
Be it voluntarily - by packing their tents and heading off in an orderly fashion. Or by having th NYPD step in - and evict them. But go they must: Their lease on Zuccotti Park has expired. And It's Their Own Fault. What began as a credible protest against bank bailouts, crony capitalism and the like has, in large measure, been hijacked by crazies and criminals.
Beyond that, too many protesters demonstrate by their actions a level of contempt for residents, businesses and workers in the area that long ago crossed the line. No one should have to put up with the incessant noise, filth and downright dangerous conditions the protesters have foisted upon lower Manhattan. The drumming and tambourines. The yelling and screaming. The public urination and defecation. The drugs. The lewdness. The criminals and their crimes. It’s all got to end.
“You know, I think increasingly you’re seeing that communities, businesses and residents in lower Manhattan feel that they are the ones that are being occupied,” Bloomberg said yesterday. “This isn’t an occupation of Wall Street. It’s an occupation of a growing, vibrant residential neighborhood in lower Manhattan, and it’s really hurting small businesses and families.” Added the mayor, “Other people have rights, too, and I am very concerned about the other peoples’ rights, as well as those of the protesters.” Spot on.
That means giving the protesters fair warning that their party is over -- and then standing firm in the face of the firestorm that surely will ignite.

They should remain there because they have the right. Until they break any rules or laws I see no reason for them to leave. Maybe the businesses should move.
This is all just fear mongering and pressure being put on the protests because the establishment knows that it might actually accomplish something good.

If you support them that much...invite them to your house to set up their tents in your yard...don't ask others to do it for you.

So the businesses and residents don't have a right to be there? Maybe the protestors should show some common decency and go home willingly. They have made their point...they are now just being annoying.
And the protestors have the right to assemble...not the right to set up a tent city wherever they want. Not to mention the fact that the park is privately owned.

I have no yard.
The 74-year-old Zuccotti is co-chairman of the board of the $3.2 billion dollar Brookfield Properties, a multi-billion dollar real estate development firm.
Mr. Zuccotti has longstanding ties to parks and city government as 40 years ago he was a paid, part-time member of the city planning commission and in the mid-1970s was appointed deputy mayor of New York City.
Additionally, Brookfield Properties has links to city government — Diana Taylor, Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s frequent companion, sits on the Brookfield Board of Directors co-chaired by Zuccotti. (To be fair and accurate, Ms. Taylor is more than just the mayor’s girlfriend. She happens to be an accomplished businessperson with an impressive resume that includes high-ranking positions in banking and a large utility company.)
the Obama administration has backed a local wind farm (tied to Brookfield) with taxpayer dollars. The title of the story, “A NH Solyndra? Wind farm gets fed loan” leads one to believe that the project is probably on shaky financial footing. The Union Leader connects the dots from the White House to Brookfield and then, in the wake of the Solyndra bankruptcy, questions the financial wisdom of this loan.
You might wonder how the Obama administration chose Brookfield from all of the companies looking to cash in on the government stimulus money. The answer to that question is a simple one: Joe Biden. Biden’s son, Robert is a partner in Oldaker, Biden, & Belair, a DC lobbying firm that in their start-up years (2002-2003) was hired by Brookfield.
