What did they do before the OWS movement for business? No citizen is REQUIRED to purchase anything from any story unless they so choose.

Maybe Obama should pass a law forcing them to do business with this coffee shop.

He can call it ObamaCoffee.

THEN they'll have some idea of what the REAL "99%" are up against, and where their "protest" ought to be aimed.

Why not give the coffee shop a bailout? Worked well for all the others!!!!!

I thought this was happening in America. you guys are so worried about the commies and socialists that you didn't even notice your country turning into a fascist state.

Commies, Socialists, Fascists - all the same thing, ALL collectivists. I had one of your crowd tell me the other day that fascism was the only manifestation of pure Socialism, Go figure.

Then you actually attempt to slander those brave enough to actually stand up against tyranny?

No, I support those standing up against tyranny.

Then you have OWS, who can't find the tyrants, so they mill around way up in New York. Well. that may not be true. Maybe they CAN find the tyrants, but for some odd reason elect to give them a pass in favor of harassing private citizens. Or maybe they're just scared of the tyrants... OR maybe they actually SUPPORT the tyrants. Whatever the reason, they're staying as far from the tyrants as they can, so as to avoid annoying the tyrants.

Some "protest".

Pfft

Yeah.

My thoughts exactly.

You know the true irony of that statement is that well the OWS group is pushing a highly socialist agenda... So not sure where that came from on your part. I am very much aware that FoxNews is skewed, so I was prepared for that attack and I have these to come back with.

NY Post

CNBC

So yea it's not just Fox News attacking the protestors for protesting and in fact I support they're right to protest. That doesn't mean I have to agree with them nor does it mean I have to like them. My biggest beef with them is that the majority of them don't have a clue what they are protesting. They are either pissed off cause they lost there job in the crappy economy that has gone on for far to long. They are looking for a free ride and joined on the hippie love band wagon, or Finally they are pushing someone else's agenda. I

What a ridiculous statement! Who told you OWS had THAT much ambition?

I'm sure you work for a bank or have been lobotomized by Republicans with the hope you'll one day be the 1%, but you should know the likelihood of you ever even being in the top 10% in this country is worse than you being struck by lightning twice while holding a winning lottery ticket. Most of the people who will ever be in the top 1% were born there.

This is either an attempt to ridicule and thereby deflect the focus of the argument away from OWS, or else that's just some pure assumption, there! Seems to be the fuel that the whole OWS runs on, though, so I'm not surprised.

Makes perfect sense. Our local farmers market are unable to set up their tables due to the OWS occupation. Lots of money being lost by it im sure. There goes my sundried tomatoes and supporting local farmers

Eggs? No, rocks, bottles, and paint seem to be more there speed.

At least we agree that they are exhibiting violent behavior by throwing things!

It started by throwing tantrums. What will they be throwing by the end?

Ask yourself this question....

In the 60's while people were protesting, marching, organizing sit ins etc etc, all in the attempts to create equal rights, did they also create an affect on others around them who were trying to get to work?

The answer is yes. Protest in the 60's created traffic issues, shut down entire blocks of businesses, shut down day to day operations of Universities and Campuses. These protest created havoc for people who were simply going on with their day to day lives and that is the point. That is how you draw attention to an issue by forcing others to deal with the issue.

How effective would the protest of the 60's have been if instead of staging a sit in in downtown Birmingham, AL they chose to stage a sit in around some farm field in rural Alabama? Have you ever heard the old saying, "Out of sight, out of mind"?

Epstein said he has pleaded with city officials, the New York police and his landlord, Donald Trump, to get the barricades removed, but he has been unable to get a return call from the city and the New York police. He was told by Trump himself, however, that the real estate mogul would try to contact city officials in hopes of removing the barricades.
Marc LaVorgna, a spokesman for Mayor Michael Bloomberg, said city officials are discussing potential solutions with Milk Street Cafe and other businesses near the protests on an ongoing basis.
"We have been working with businesses and the community to address the issues caused by the protests and will continue to do so,"

I feel bad for the guy but all the negative
aspects (huge angry mob and cops outside your door) even after the barricades are removed
will still be there.

The barricades might help being removed but I doubt it.

This is just another OWS casualty of war.

Someone liked this guys coffee at some point or he would
never be able to afford the rent. So I think OWS is having
very bad consequences which is what they want chaos..

If I were that business man I would get the employees to get out there with a fanny pack and some thermoses and styrophome (sp?) cups and go in the crowds.

The bottom line is that there is a small minority of ATS members who seem to run around looking for any OWS post to immeadiately throw out there rhetoric and attempt to make the OP look like they are just spewing anti-OWS propaganda. It ironically reminds me of how America treats its allies. They jump all over a country making weapons of mass destruction that isn't in there club, but the minute a country that is in our alliance is accused of something they are defended tooth and nail.. Same logistics just this time its anti or pro protestors.

Down with the corporate coffee-makers and their snooty baristas! Down with coffee shops that, er, ummm, won't let me poop in their rest rooms! And they didn't even want to get me a cup of coffee on the house.

Even though I'm doing this for them!

If they aren't with me and giving me free stuff, then they are against me!!!

Marc Epstein, owner of the Milk Street Cafe at 40 Wall Street in lower Manhattan, said he had to cut 21 of the 97 members of his staff on Thursday and Friday after seeing sales plummet by 30 percent in the six weeks since the protests began. Read more: www.foxnews.com...

I wonder how much of that 30% drop in sales is related to kids going back to school? Honestly, I would be interested to see his sales numbers for this exact time last year, and not compare current sales to the sales volume of six weeks ago, before the kids went back to school.

Before OWS, there was a farmers market in Zuccotti Park -

Occupy Wall Street protesters, who are supposed to be fighting FOR the 99 percent, are really screwing stuff up for local farmers.

Thanks to their total takeover of Zuccotti Park, the Occupiers have forced farmers at the longstanding Zuccotti Greenmarket to relocate to a street corner nearly half a mile away.

"It's been annoying and it's hurt business," one of the farmers told DNAinfo.

It seems to me that there is a small PAID minority of ATS members who seem to run around looking for any OWS post to immediately denigrate the efforts of the courageous OWS'sers.

Afterall, the 1% are not fools and are do certainly feel threatened enough in the media and real life by the unmasking of their misdeeds to part with some pennies to pay the unconscionable to ensure OWS is silenced, made fools of, and threated with contempt, and ensuring fence sitters and unpaid ignorants to join in the bandwagon to be be anti OWS'ser.

Too bad the anti-OWS will fail, for they are easily unmasked. They no logic or even sense of realities in their posts. :-P

Or perhaps there are a small amount of ATS posters who understand what is going on. Perhaps they see how it very much possible that the OWS movement is entirely ill-equipped to tackle the situation and unorganized in addition to being ill-informed. Perhaps they (OWS) do not understand or have forgotten the things that built America and made her great to begin with.

Somehow the OWS makes kids in a playground hammering on pots and pans make absolute sense. At least I could smile at the noise they make for having fun unlike these people whom, as one poster mentioned, made it impossible for local farmers to open their market to the public or are sexually abusing and stealing from each-other.

I agree restructuring is needed but like hell it's going to go down the socialist road to despotism.

You're comparing two different things. The sit-ins occurred at places that were segregated. Therefore, they were causing a loss of business to places that were against them. In this case the protesters are hurting those people they are supposedly fighting for. In the end that's not going to help their cause, but hurt it by turning away people who might have supported them.

They just have to stick through it a bit longer, they will all take off come black Friday. I mean they are going to need that new iphone that just came out and since they think they are the "poor 99%" they have to wait for it to go on sale.

Duh, they are all broke! They can't afford a $6+ cup of coffee, that is why they are out demanding free stuff.
