I didn't see any actual abuse nor anyone defending child abuse.

You have defended his actions and you can't even understand how this is child abuse..... Your own kids would hate you for what you say is appropriate behavior of a father... You can't deny that because you wont show your kids this side of you. It's sick what you are suggesting....

I will say it again, 20+ strokes of the belt with no intention other than to physically harm the child is by definition child abuse, or more technically... cause of substantial harm

so now I have another quote to add to the list I continue to get massive support for....

I love anonymous they track IP's and hate child beating advocates just as much as the rest of us. I hope you use a proxy...

Negative reinforcement does NOT work.

If psychology were a required high school course then perhaps more people would understand this?

Than why is negative reinforcement the mob's solution to this situation?

You make a good point, but I would like you to consider this counter-point.

I tell you that when my dad hit me like that 20 years ago with his leather belt I screamed like hell, maybe even harder than her. Obviously you never got beaten as a child..I wasn't exactly the best son, as human children it is jusifiable to say we make mistakes, but abuse is not tolerable and there should be no excuse.

Then again, its almost impossible in the times we live in now to prove or disprove who did what and who started it. Any woman, for any reason can call abuse or rape without any evidence on any guy in the State of Alaska, 100% no questions asked, your off to jail. Seen it time after time here in town, some cases get dropped because the young girl or woman who imposed or reports the (rape, abuse) by their husband, father, boyfriend, or unknown man has prior (cry wolfs) of this happening with no evidence and some, very few judges will dismiss them, most give out harsh sentences.

Sometimes I'm afraid to tell my girlfriend when I have one, she's stupid because she might call the cops, and I can't afford a year in jail, I'm serious!!!! this happen way too much up here.

The internet is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

Most of you declaring this to be a crime,,, would not have the balls to say anything to this father's face.
That's right. If you were in a room with this man, you'd cower and keep your mouths shut, wouldnt say a word to him.
The internet is full of people with Napoleon syndrome.

And if you did go up to him, he'd justifiably whup your asses!

If she had just lain on her stomach, she might have got 5-7 smacks with the belt. Instead she thought it would be a good idea to be defiant to her bigger and stronger dad, hence, she got what was coming to her.

All you people crying "abuse, abuse!" have obviously never BEEN abused, nor even SEEN abuse. Child abuse is when he comes in, slaps her across the face with the belt, throws it down, punches her in the face a few times to break her nose and jaw, really get the blood flowing, and then proceed to go to town on her with some other object, such as a rod or stick or frying pan, or any other heavy object.

He wasn't even swinging as hard as he could.(Not that he should, some posters have just suggested that he was) Anyone who says otherwise is ridiculous. I'm literally half this guys size (120 lbs) and could swing a belt WAY harder than that...

A thousand people glaring at him per day, even at work, is much sweeter satisfaction than one person calling him names on the street.

Satisfaction for whom? The girl regrets putting the video on the internet. It's not her satisfaction. It's just your satisfaction.
Why do you get satisfaction from this situation?

I conducted a nice fact-based experiment to see exactly how bad this is.

I got my Fossil brand belt, and I doubled it over.

I then began to smack my own thigh to judge the level of pain that it may cause.

As I escalated the strength of each strike upon my own leg, it became quickly apparent that there was no actual real pain, but rather a stinging sensation that went away within mere seconds after the strike had occurred.

Anyone who cares to test this themselves are welcome. Although it is difficult to get to a full force swing due to natural restraint mechanisms, you can over-ride that with a little will-power.

Even a full force blow with a doubled over belt at my strength was not capable of creating anything more than a 2second stinging sensation.

This person clearly enjoyed giving the blows, as the general public can plainly see. The 10% that agree with him won't glare at him at work. Fair enough.

It doesn't matter really.

Its not your business what people do to their kids. None.
They created them, it's their call.

I agree the punishment is a bit over the top, and I personally do not use weapons when punishing my children. I do not hit the face or vulnerable organs either.

But I have kids of my own and I totally understand whats going on here.

Over the top? Yes for sure.

Our business? Nope not at all.

Why don't we go after this judge for corruption issues like how they imprison innocents just to keep the $$$ flowing or other actual crimes like that?

This is being torn out of context and it's just another way the Nazi Parent - Police can justify their agenda to strip parents of any rights and allow the government to control all of our parenting decisions.

I've been a passive lurker of this site and I've never felt the need to reply to anything until I came across your comment. It's not our business? I disagree. A child who suffers from cerebral palsy is not only being beaten but mentally abused by not ONE, but BOTH of her parents. As witnesses to said abuse, we have an obligation to at the very least report it to the proper authorities. What this "father" (and I use the term loosely here) did to his daughter is disgusting. The mother not only witnessed it and did nothing but actually participated, and that is absolutely mind boggling. If my husband ever dared to hit one of my children I would make sure it never happened again because he would no longer be living under the same roof. You don't deserve to have children if you treat them in this manner. Violence begets violence and it accomplishes nothing.

It never hurts for a person to reflect on his past actions. The satisfaction that Judge Williams can now claim is that he has learned his lesson and will try and be a kinder and more gentle human being.

I'm sure his daughter learned her lesson from the beating. Now it's Judge Williams turn.

Now it's time for the judge to question his motivations. He just enjoyed beating her to much as evidenced by the tone of his voice and his verbal degradation of his own daughter. We reap what we sow...

Because many people are empty inside and thrive on negative emotions such as anger, fear, hatred, and they also embrace ignorance as a strength.

They do not care what harm they inflict on others, or even this girl surprisingly enough.

They only care about pushing their self-righteous beliefs upon others through social ostracism, vigilante tactics, and attempting to shame anyone who disagrees with them. They utilize character assassination tactics, threats of violence and retribution, etc.

By pure definition this is a lynch mob or a witch hunt.

People glaring at someone is hardly a witch hunt, and surely pales in comparison to the death threats that girl from florida received, and since she got off on a technicality, she deserves to be tried by the public, minus the threats of violence.

I must say that I am seriously bothered by the number of people advocating violence as retribution to abuse. It's unfortunate that we can't handle ourselves as humans, evolved enough to understand the place from where our feelings come from and smart enough not to act on our worst instincts.

That said, the Judge should have used restraint in this situation: if your job is to administer the law, then administer to the law. The punishment should fit the crime.

I have already said my peace about abuse and it's effects-treat one another as you would like to be treated.

I doubt if the violence that the Judge inflicted on his daughter was intended to get the social ostracism he is sure to receive from the folks in Rockport, Texas.

If he wasn't such a fool, I could almost feel sorry for him. Perhaps I will if he owns up to his actions and cuts loose the people he sentenced to jail for doing exactly the same thing he did.

Karma has a subtle way of settling the score with hypocrites....

That is very true. I'm sure he is reflecting on his actions. I'm sure he regrets it. I'm sure the family regrets the situation, and will grow from this. It may in fact be a catalyst for the family.

But,,,

When you made love to yourself this week... What if it was recorded by your daughter and put on the internet?
You'd likely reflect on that as well wouldn't yah?
I'm just sayin.
It was wrong of her to do that to her father. The one man who loves her enough to punish her, teach her, and even forgive her after all of this.

Every single person on this planet makes "not so good" decisions. But they don't pay for it on the world level like this man has/is paying.

The daughter will forgive this man. The internet will not forgive this man. When he is 88 yrs old, this video will pop up on his grandson's facebook page.

It's the age we live in. It's scary. And, that's why I defend this man. He is defensless. And ppl have absolutely no problem with kicking him while down. I find that pitiful.

Here's a recent article posted today
Police Investigate Texas judge over video beating. PORTLAND, Texas (AP) — Police launched an investigation Wednesday into a Texas family law judge whose daughter posted a YouTube video of him savagely beating her with a belt during a tirade several years ago when she was a teenager.

The daughter secretly setup the video. According to the article, the daughter, Hillary Adams said she set up the camera because she knew "something was about to happen."

She said she feels some regret over posting the video because she said she doesn't want to see her father punished, but that she hopes it will spur him to seek help.

What's buggy about this is that it's obvious he used the belt in the past as punishment, "Go get the belt. The big one. I'm going to spank her now," Adams is heard saying in the clip's opening seconds.

Her parents have since divorced and in Adams' ex-wife counter-petition, the divorce was filed under grounds of "mental cruelty."

hmmm, wow
