Well, sorry to tell you but you are being used as another "useful idiot". That is not my insult, it is the insult that true socialist/communists have been giving to those who support these socialist/communist movements like the OWS...
I know what I am talking about, I lived and experienced what a similar "unite the workers, let's raise our fist" movements did to the nation where I was born...
I know better than you what I am talking about, and the logos are the OFFICIAL logos of those areas, and in general of the OWS movement...
Some other logos have been submitted by other protesters, but the logos you will find in t-shirts, and the official logos are those of socialism/communism..

Maybe i don't speak for everyone, but can say i speak for those i agree with that being the basic gist of why OWS is there in the first place.

I see more Ron Paul people there then lefties, I met several republicans there as well. Again you are projecting your right wing vs left wing politics on a movement that is not officially political. A movement that gets endorsed by several entities, organizations and can and will receive more. This is the same tripe the MSM pulled with the tea party claiming it was all right wingers. You are doing the same here.

The raised fist (also known as the clenched fist) is a universal symbol of solidarity and support.[1] It is also used as a salute to express unity, strength, defiance, or resistance. The salute dates back to ancient Assyria as a symbol of resistance in the face of violence.[2]

The Federal Reserve Act (ch. 6, 38 Stat. 251, enacted December 23, 1913, 12 U.S.C. ch.3) is an Act of Congress that created and set up the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States of America, and granted it the legal authority to issue Federal Reserve Notes (now commonly known as the U.S. Dollar) and Federal Reserve Bank Notes as legal tender. The Act was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson.
Thomas Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856 – February 3, 1924) was the 28th President of the United States, from 1913 to 1921. A leader of the Progressive Movement, he served as President of Princeton University from 1902 to 1910, and then as the Governor of New Jersey from 1911 to 1913. With Progressive ("Bull Moose") Party candidate Theodore Roosevelt and Republican nominee William Howard Taft dividing the Republican Party vote, Wilson was elected President as a Democrat in 1912.
In his first term as President, Wilson persuaded a Democratic Congress to pass major progressive reforms including the Federal Reserve Act, Federal Trade Commission Act, the Clayton Antitrust Act, the Federal Farm Loan Act and an income tax. Wilson brought many white Southerners into his administration, and supported the introduction of segregation into many federal agencies.[1]

Government systems
Under the influence of Walter Bagehot's The English Constitution, Wilson saw the United States Constitution as pre-modern, cumbersome, and open to corruption. He believed, according to one interpreter, that "the U.S. Constitution prevents the government from meeting the country's needs by enumerating rights that the government may not infringe."[35] An admirer of Parliament, Wilson favored a parliamentary system for the United States. Writing in the early 1880s:
The Saturday afternoon protest crowd was much smaller than the would-be revolutionaries had hoped. However, the comically unfocused messages from the New York campers seem to be finding some filters. While there were the expected few signs with vulgarities aimed at government and bankers and corporations, the major focus of this day’s protestors was concern about growing corruption in the federal government.
a member of the Occupy Ashland KY group, said the goal of the movement is to both show solidarity with those gathered on Wall Street and to make people more aware of problems in society, including banking cartels, big companies that control things such as the food and pharmaceutical industries and the media. “It’s time to wake people up,” he said. “It’s time to shock people a little bit. It’s time to bring forth a little bit of the reality that the majority of us refuse to see because we’re too busy watching ‘Glee,’ too busy tuning in on ‘American Idol,’ waiting for the new iPhone to come out.” Hurst said he knows people who are participating in the occupation in New York City, and he thinks there’s confusion over the purpose behind their actions. “Those people are not protesting Wall Street, they’re protesting the Federal Reserve’s control of the U.S. economy,” he said.

Horribly wrong you are, in fact i have been waiting for people to start demonstrations against Wall Street and the Banks. I expected people to protest the FED before anything but have taken the opportunity to voice my contempt against the crimes that have been committed. You sure love that word "socilaits" dont you. Branding and labeling people makes things easy and simple for you.

Front groups of the community organization ACORN played a major role in organizing the OWS protests nationwide. For instance, the Working Families Party (WFP), a longtime ACORN front, helped mobilize the demonstrations in New York City. "We are actually trying to change the capitalist system we have today because its not working for any of us," WFP organizer Nelini Stamp told Laura Flanders of Free Speech TV in an interview.
Meanwhile, ACORNs newer front groups were likewise deeply involved in launching and expanding the OWS movement throughout the fall of 2011. For instance, New York Communities for Change -- led by longtime ACORN lobbyist Jon Kest -- helped WFP organize the demonstrations in lower Manhattan. In Pennsylvania, Action United participated in the "Occupy Pittsburgh" rallies. In Florida, Organize Now took part in "Occupy Orlando." The Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment led the "Occupy L.A." protests. And New England United for Justice, headed by former ACORN national president Maude Hurd, participated in the related “Take Back Boston” rallies in Massachusetts.
The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) was also heavily involved in OWS's formation and early growth. At the heart of "Occupy Los Angeles," for instance, were two Southern California communists -- veteran Party leader Arturo Cambron and his comrade Mario Brito. In early October 2011, Brito declared that OWS's chief objective was to achieve “economic justice,” and added: “This is an international movement ... The vast majority of Americans actually believe income inequality is a major problem. The only reason they haven’t acted upon it is because there hasn’t been a mass movement.” In an October 15, 2011 address to the nearly 3,000 attendees at an "Occupy Chicago" rally, John Bachtell, a spokesman from the CPUSA's national board, claimed to “bring greetings and solidarity from the Communist Party”; he received a number of loud ovations from the crowd.

The raised fist salute consists of raising one arm in the air with a clenched fist. Different movements sometimes use different terms to describe the raised fist salute: amongst communists and socialists, it is sometimes called the red salute, whereas amongst black rights activists, especially in the United States of America it has been called the Black Power salute. During the Spanish Civil War, it was sometimes known as the anti-fascist salute. The traditional version of the salute, originally a symbol of the broader workers' movement, became associated with the parties of the Comintern during the 1920s and 1930s. Since the Trotskyists were forced out of the Comintern, some Trotskyists have made a point of strictly raising the left fist in the tradition of the Left Opposition. Some anarchists also prefer the left fist to denote their libertarian socialist opposition to Marxism.

Look at what the real grassroots of this movement are doing. Go out to an actual protest instead of arguing online. I have yet to see one of these socialists in the flesh at the protests. I am not a useful idiot, you however are being a useless one. I know I am not because I have helped spark conversation and helped organize one of the protests and general assemblies and there was a cohesive message and it wasn't one of socialism. In all honesty my actions there in a few weeks of this protest have probably allowed me to do more for this country than you ever will complaining on your computer.

Democratising Global Governance:
The Challenges of the World Social Forum
by
Francesca Beausang
ABSTRACT
This paper sums up the debate that took place during the two round tables organized by UNESCO within the first World Social Forum in Porto Alegre (25/30 January 2001). It starts with a discussion of national processes, by examining democracy and then governance at the national level. It first states a case for a "joint" governance based on a combination of stakeholder theory, which is derived from corporate governance, and of UNESCO's priorities in the field of governance. As an example, the paper investigates how governance can deviate from democracy in the East Asian model. Subsequently, the global dimension of the debate on democracy and governance is examined, first by identification of the characteristics and agents of democracy in the global setting, and then by allusion to the difficulties of transposing governance to the global level.
...
The governments of Europe, the United States, and Japan are unlikely to negotiate a social-democratic pattern of globalization – unless their hands are forced by a popular movement or a catastrophe, such as another Great Depression or ecological disaster
enough proof that you are just a troll. You are accusing other people without any proof, yet you come here and justify these cops...

Yeah there is... if you want DO YOUR OWN FREAKING INVESTIGATION, but find out who is exactly the organizers, and the money behind the OWS movement. You don't have to take the word from some BLOG like some people were doing trying to dismiss the Tea Party movement. The information can be found even in leftwinger sources, and it clearly shows who is behind this movement... Just a hint...it is not "the 99% of the people in the U.S."...

Indeed it is in full effect. Have you been over to GLP lately? Wow, it's just beyond laughable. Now GLP even has demeaning images (demeaning for OWS protestors) at the bottom of every page. A few days ago one of the images said something like "Occupy a Job". That is laughable coming from a douche like Trinity who sits at his computer all day making money from what other people post. Their latest image really takes the cake though:

Thus it begins.
ATS seems to be full of threads of bought out people loudly shouting against OWS... when the ATS poll has shown that most of ATS is for OWS.
There is a war on for your mind.
Don't let the disinformation rule the day. Go down and see for your self. Watch the independent media.
There does seem to be a lot of anti OWS sentiment lately, and a lot of the reasoning behind this is ridiculous at times. The propaganda war is clearly in full effect.
What I find really interesting is the stark contrast between ATS and GLP when it comes to our perspectives on OWS. These are two of the largest conspiracy forums on the internet, it's interesting to note how differently the membership perceive certain events. However, the perceptions of the GLP membership are clearly warped and tainted by the administration. At least the administration of ATS isn't censoring certain opinions or pushing certain opinions about OWS (well I haven't seen it happen yet).edit on 1-11-2011 by ChaoticOrder because: (no reason given)
